Personally, I like all of it. The caves are incredible, and will take some getting used to , as to not get lost. I also like the new compass.

Disney sends an email, you download the link, and you're in.

...Less than helpful, I have no idea what this means, AND I've had no trouble getting in game before this past update. SO FRUSTRATINGGGGG...I am planning on giving them a call tomorrow. Will let you know what they say.

Thanks Ducky for the info...
I sent a Bug report as well, got no reply. However, it wouldn't have helped anyway if that's the reply ya get...... SO FRUSTRATINGGGGGG does not even begin to describe it!!!!!

BTW... Is anyone out there gonna say that the new Caves suck, they wasted their time and ours, we waited all this time for junk, don't waste your time if you can't get in on Test, you are not missing a thing, yadda, yadda, yadda???

Oh and did I mention...... JIP! Yet!!!

I cant say I love the new caves - but I cant say I hate them or that they suck. I hope they do some adjustments to enemy positions or other slight adjustments - but it isnt that bad.

As I mentioned already - players need the Raised Cap (and make sure its working) before releasing the next storyline, otherwise we'd all continue to get no Rep for doing it :)

Now that D has finally shown that they are serious in continuing to make improvements and put a serious effort into our requests - now is not the time to complain about what they are actually giving us :)

This completely depends on the level of your pirate. My level 29 pirate ran through every cave without being touched, even running into enemies.. UNTIL I got to Padres, and the caves there in. These enemies being close to my level got their attention all the time. Lower levels running through Padres were being untouched (unless they attacked).

If ye had a working test account prior, I sympathize. Hope they can figure out what the problem there is!

I've seen at least one comment of similar content.
I used to be one of those that would have, however I believe I have opened my eyes, and see a much bigger picture now as they now appear to be putting what they likely had planned for the game back in, what they had to yank out to get it published in time. I see these changes as vast improvements to the game overall, and giving us alot more direction for the future.

If Disney was a little more upfront with their plans, they would avoid alot of the frustration shared by the pirate community.

Well, I called Disney and spoke with a not very friendly employee, however they told me they are aware of the issue at hand (Being the "No Mac users connecting to the servers"). They don't have an eta as to when it'll be fixed by, though. Ugh...

That IS the next logical step wether its what we want or not, meanwhile us level 40s will be grinding trying to reach 50.

I really hope not.

I like all the redone caves, the Nort Cap raise, and all the other little changes but I don't like how they NEEDED to go back and change things.

I probably don't like the fact that this whole year has been about island/cave changes because I've never experience something like this in any other game. The only change of area toontown had was toontown central, and they redid it before beta ended.

Yes, I like the changes, but I don't like knowing that all the money I've spent just was just for content that would be redone. POTCO didn't need to rush through the game making just to release before POTBS. I don't see why they had to do that. Were they afraid that more people thought the game that came out first would be better? I hope not, because toontown was released before WoW and there are more players in WoW than in toontown.

I just don't understand why they would go back and redo almost everything when they could have waited another year or two just to work on finishing things up. Yes, the new changes are great, but IMO they should have been here from the start of the game.

JM Ohara 08-22-2009 06:30 PM

Okay, just to clarify this here... The new caves are not an addition to the old but a replacement? ARRGG! I'm gonna loose my nades spot? Well drat. How odd that just Wednesday night I asked a guildmate what was up with the area you can glitch to in the Catacombs that leads to stairs to nowhere. I speculated that it would be a neat place to expand. There were a lot of cool places they could have expanded on in pretty much all the caves. Eh, oh well.

I know how long some of you have waited for this. A few minor annoyances to me are a small price to pay for what you guys have been waiting for.

These changes may have been required in order to fit in the designed story chapter 2. The game as it was perhaps could not accomodate the next part of the story line. See how many more enemies we have now, but didnt have when the game came out?

In this case though - Toontown and WoW are geared towards two totally seperate players - the competition is different (I know WoW players - and most 20 something guys don't care about Toontown).

But in this case - its is all about marketing. POTCO and POTBS are going for the same players - first one out wins (may not be a win... but in marketing its how you play).

It won't matter now anyway. Two years later the release, the target market, the economy - have all changed. Now and for some time I think we're going to see what was really the intent of the games direction. :)

Zep basically covers the other point, so I'll leave it at that :D

MacIronhawk 08-22-2009 07:04 PM

Ok, I understand now.

But now I want to know one more thing. In the release notes it said that the nort and weapon levels were raised, but did it talk about HP? Does it go over 2501 now?

Jack I 08-22-2009 07:10 PM

While my pirate is nowhere near 50, I would have no doubt that it does. Between getting +HP everytime you level not to mention you have more skill points to add to those skills that raise HP (If they aren't already maxed), you should be able to pass the previous HP limit.

combatlizzy 08-22-2009 07:29 PM

I luv the changes...except for the compass when sailing...matter of getting used to it. I played POTBS for a very short time & hated it. The only thing I liked were the clothes & hair styles...lol But the sailing didn't compare to POTCO...course this is only IMHO...
