Although we aren't planning any 'formal' event for this Wednesday, it would be nice to see everyone try to get ingame just to be able to pass well wishes.

I'll be there, and hope that everyone else will, too.

Bug 12-22-2009 03:55 PM

I will try to be on for a bit Bas!!!

Robmac7777 12-23-2009 12:01 AM

Ahoy TK, what's up?

Basil Dreadflint 01-12-2010 06:30 PM

Wednesday, January 13.

I'm working on some new guild night events for down the road, but don't have anything "New" ready yet. So, I was thinking maybe we could do something that we've only done a few times before.

SVS night!

Form up 2 teams and have at each other. (There's a few people I would like to sink!)

Start around 8:30 Eastern, and go from there.

JM Ohara 01-12-2010 06:43 PM

Sounds like fun!

PS, Came to say hi TK, but ya weren't in.

Bug 01-13-2010 05:27 AM

I will try to make it :)

Sarah 01-13-2010 07:28 AM

You know I"ll be there, ready to be sunk... :)

lostmymarbles 01-13-2010 11:33 AM

That's okay Sarah, the Coast Guard inspected and approved our sailing vessels. Plenty of flotation devices for everyone.

ThunderKiss 01-13-2010 02:24 PM

Basil Dreadflint 01-13-2010 02:29 PM

Happy one year anniversary, TK!

ukebec 01-13-2010 05:42 PM

Umm - I'll show up, but can I just agree up front to be cannon fodder? I SvS like I PvP, which is to say not at all. :D

JM Ohara 01-13-2010 06:06 PM

Hehe me too. But you'll get a kick out of this I'm sure. If you've never seen a bunch of DWs together in ships.... :D

Basil Dreadflint 01-17-2010 02:31 AM

For Wednesday, the 20th, I have a new game for us.

(Brought to you by the "Dueces Wild No Rep Players")

How many remember "Red Rover" from grade school?
Well, that's the game for Wednesday!

Two teams in SvS sails.
Each person on a team sails their own ship. The team Captain decides on who sails which type of ship. There must be at least one ship of each type on each team.

The teams form into straight lines opposite of each other, and facing each other broadsides. One team "Dares" one of the other team's ships to come at them. The dared ship has to sail through the other teams line. If it makes it, it can repair and rejoin the team line. If it sinks, it is out of the round.

The teams take turns daring each other out. Either all of one teams ships are sunk, or the dares go to 5 dares each team and whichever team has the most ships left is the winner.

We can play multiple rounds of this.

ThunderKiss 01-18-2010 05:57 PM

I think I'm too young to remember Red Rover LOL:piratetongueor4:

JM Ohara 01-18-2010 07:03 PM

If you're too young to remember Red Rover what does that make me? :laughks2: This will be a kick!

Sarah 01-18-2010 08:03 PM

Yeah, too young...*ahem*

This is going to be a riot :) Til Wednesday!

lostmymarbles 01-18-2010 11:29 PM

Have fun ... I'll have to be satisfied with seeing the screenies.

(RL = Work. *sigh)

Bug 01-19-2010 12:10 AM

I will try to get on again. I did earlier today so cross your fingers!!

And I certainly do remember Red Rover, and the associated arm pain. ;)

Richard Ironskull 01-20-2010 12:36 AM

I might actually get to be there!!! Woot!

Red Rover Red Rover, everyone come over!

I can take them in big bites :piratear::agapirateju3::Pirate7:

ukebec 01-20-2010 05:47 AM

Yer an evil, wicked man Cap, to be foisting off another SvS so soon. ;)

But I'll be there. I'll be "out" quick, but I'll be there. :piratetongueor4:

Basil Dreadflint 01-20-2010 03:07 PM

Rules for tonight's guild night game!

There will be 2 Captains, one French, the other Spanish.
They will select their teams and go to their respective islands.
Once there, each person will be sailing their own ship. The Captain can assign who sails which type of ship, but each team MUST HAVE at least one Sloop, one Galleon, and one Frigate. After that, it's up to the Captain to decide.

Once the fleets are ready to sail:
I will line each team up. You will be facing each other broadsides.
Once you are in position, NO SAILING! You can turn in place to shoot, but no dropping of sails unless you are the one trying to break through the enemy lines.

One team will 'dare' a single ship from the other team to come across. That ship then drops sails and goes straight at the opposing line. The object is to 'break through' or sail past the enemy line. You must sail somewhere BETWEEN the enemy ships, not around them. If the ship gets past the line, I will call CEASE FIRE.

The team doing the daring tries to sink the approaching ship before they get past. But, they are not allowed to sail to do it, only turn in place.
If the Dared ship gets sunk, they are out of the round. If they make it through, they are allowed to repair, and return to their own line.

The ONLY ships that are allowed to do repairs are the ones who have successfully broken through the enemy lines. NO ONE ELSE is allowed to repair! (This means, if your ship gets damaged while defending your line, so what. You cannot repair.)

Now the other team gets to dare someone to come across.

A single round is until all of one teams ships are sunk, or 5 dares each team, whichever comes first.

I expect the first round to be a little rocky, until everyone figures it out, but I think we can do a few rounds of this during the evening.

JM Ohara 01-20-2010 04:46 PM

So then it's alright for Rover to shoot back as he or she passes the line?

Basil Dreadflint 01-20-2010 05:00 PM

Rover can shoot all she/he wants. Even before crossing the line.

Actually, I was going to space the lines just far enough away that the lines could barely shoot each other.

Sarah 01-20-2010 08:09 PM

Gonna have to get a new snorkle for tonight ;) Look forward to the mass sinking!

Kid Heartbreaker 01-21-2010 12:17 AM

Basil Dreadflint 01-23-2010 04:07 PM

For this Wednesday, See the thread "Basil's Retirement"

Crazypirate 01-23-2010 10:17 PM

Who was that sinking in that last screenie? LOL

Basil Dreadflint 01-31-2010 06:04 PM

This Wednesday:

Ship Tag!

Look here tomorrow for the rules! (Sorry, but RL has me a little busy this weekend, don't have a lot of time.)

Basil Dreadflint 02-01-2010 06:49 PM

Rules are going to be simple.

Everyone but me will be sailing either a Frigate or a Galleon. I will be in a Sloop.

You will all set sail from PR. Your ships MUST stay in a limited area of the sea, from PR to Devil's Anvil. No circling the islands, or going out of bounds. It's sort of a triangle shaped area, if you look at the map.

I will chase the ships. TAG is by bumping or ramming one. Once rammed, the ship that I hit becomes a chaser, too. That person can continue to sail whatever ship they were in, or choose to shift to a sloop.

We continue to CATCH all the other ships, until there is only one uncaught ship remaining. They are the winner.

We probably can run a few rounds of this during the evening.

Sarah 02-02-2010 03:55 PM

Nice ;) Looking forward to it!

ukebec 02-02-2010 05:50 PM

This sounds like fun. Can't wait!

Richard Ironskull 02-03-2010 06:30 AM

I can actually make it!!

Yay. I am looking forward to some tag.

ThunderKiss 02-03-2010 02:59 PM

Sounds like fun! But do I need to buy a small ship? :degen: I aint doing it lol :piratewheelgo2:

Basil Dreadflint 02-03-2010 03:10 PM

NO TK, no buying of ships is required. Use the ships you already own. Those being chased must drive Frigate or Galleon class. Only those doing the chasing can be in Sloops. Doesn't matter what size, just the class.

(Those doing the chasing get the slight speed advantage of a sloop.)

ThunderKiss 02-03-2010 07:34 PM

LOL I'm just being a smartie :dancetl6:

mlratto 02-04-2010 12:45 AM

AngelStormbreaker 02-04-2010 05:17 PM

Thanks to all of you. I had a blast!

Basil Dreadflint 02-05-2010 08:58 PM

Next Wednesday: 2/10.

Glows as normal. So if you have glowage coming up, please post so that everyone can be there.

(Another event brought to you by "The Dueces Wild No Rep Club")

Anyone remember the game of "Kick the Can"? I used to play this as a kid.

Sort of a cross between hide and seek, tag, and capture the flag.

Here's how we will play:

There will be 2 teams. One team is the runners, the other team the chasers.
There will be one person who isn't on any team, they get to be the "Can".
We will be using an empty KH for the game.
The Can will be given a small area that she/he must stay within. The runners scatter and hide. The chasers then go in pursuit. If a chaser tags a runner with their doll, that runner must freeze and no longer move. When all runners have been caught, the game is over.

Now for the switch:
The runners ARE allowed to run, not just hide in one place. (I am going to allow use of the compass and map for this, since the Runners are allowed to be on the move.)
As the runners are tagged, they must own up to it and freeze in place.
This allows the chaser who tagged them to continue chasing others, even if they lose attunement.

If a RUNNER tags the "CAN' with their doll, all the frozen runners become free again.

Game example:

Team A is runners, Team B is chasers, I'm the "Can". Each team uses their own crew chat to talk to each other.

I have to stay in the center courtyard, but can walk around that area freely.

Team A scatters and team B chases them. 2 people from team A get tagged and must freeze in place. The rest of team A is still on the loose. A third member of team A gets caught and has to freeze. The few remaining members of team A attempt to get to me, and tag me, or "Kick the Can" before ALL of them are caught. If any one of them make it, and kick the can, then the entire team goes free and must be recaught.

The can can be kicked at any time! If someone attunes me, I will yell it out in Guild chat.

Game is over when the entire team is frozen in place, or caught. Then the teams change roles, and we do it again.

Bug 02-05-2010 09:15 PM

Sounds fun Bas!! I will try to make it :)

ukebec 02-06-2010 02:41 AM

Sounds like fun, but I never played kick the can, so I have questions. (I'm so sorry to be a bother, but this is all new to me, and I'm picturing empty KH in my head).

Using your example:

Does everyone know ahead of time where the "can" is stationed?

Do the runner teams and chaser teams start at appointed spots?

If the runners manage to "kick the can" and unfreeze their teammates, does the "can" move to a new location? And do the runner and chaser teams return to their original appointed starting spots?

Thanks Boss! I know this sounds like a great time if I can just get a handle on it. I can't tell you how much it means that you embrace suggestions from your guild. Never experienced that before.

Dueces rock!

lostmymarbles 02-06-2010 02:50 AM

I might be able to make it this next week.

Basil Dreadflint 02-06-2010 03:25 AM

RL News Flash
Just got hired back at my old job & starting tomorrow (2/10/10) so I will try to stop in for a little bit if I get a chance for guild night but can't promise or stay very long.

Basil Dreadflint 02-10-2010 06:02 PM

I really doubt if I'll be around for guild night tonight. Still snowed in, no power or internet access. If cable comes back on, I'll be there. I've been waiting for this one for a long time, so I'll do my best.

lostmymarbles 02-11-2010 01:45 AM

Sorry, my friends. I might be able to show up, but I don't think I can hang in there. I'm feeling like carp.

Sarah 02-11-2010 02:45 PM

Looks like we're gonna have to try for that one again ;) Somewhere between Colosus hunting and an attempt to get to play around in an empty KH, my connection went wonky and I got the boot....grrr.

Richard Ironskull 02-11-2010 08:18 PM

Haha, we were wondering.

We ended up playing some games of hide and seek and one game of tag.

Basil Dreadflint 02-12-2010 06:17 PM

Can we try "Kick The Can" again this Wednesday?

My electrical and internet problems kept me out last week.

lostmymarbles 02-13-2010 10:22 PM

Fate is still against me...work next Wednesday.

ukebec 02-14-2010 11:10 PM

I'd be happy to try it again Boss. The tag games we played turned into great fun. I'm sure Kick the Can will be a blast.

I'm looking forward to it! One last miserably long shift today, tomorrow, play time! :)

Kid Heartbreaker 02-18-2010 02:12 AM

I'm about to head out for the night shift on my project - should be done with nights by the weekend. Have fun and Sea Ya all when the work is done.

SteamweaverJ 02-18-2010 03:06 AM

Working. Waaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:sadmh9:

Basil Dreadflint 02-18-2010 05:08 PM

I think last night was a blast!

I really enjoyed being the can, although I didn't get kicked as often as I thought I would. (Thankfully)

Now, I won't be here next week, so it's going to be up to you to decide what you want to do as a guild event.

(I won't be here at all after tomorrow, til Sunday the 28th.)

ukebec 02-18-2010 05:30 PM

And unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it last night. I hope a great time was had by all!

Bug 02-19-2010 11:48 PM

Bummer I missed all the fun but was in immense pain from work, kind of overdid it & couldn't even move my right arm. Not sure when I can get on with my new work schedule. Always thinking of you all though!!

Sarah 02-24-2010 07:02 PM

Hey Gang! Planning on being in game tonight, nothing "formal" planned, but if anyone has any glows or masterings in the works, let us know ;)

Richard Ironskull 03-02-2010 11:05 PM

Well, not sure if anything is planned, but I am not going to make guild night this week. Chilling with the gf.

I'll be back muahaha

Basil Dreadflint 03-03-2010 04:04 PM

I was thinking of just a pure plunder party tonight.

Cannon and sailing rep, and gold of course, to anyone who needs it.

Prob could use both cannon and sailing, and I'm sure others are in the same boat!
No pun intended.

Besides, I'm so busy right now, I just can't plan anything more detailed.

Sarah 03-04-2010 02:41 PM

Sorry I had to bolt last night, life got in the way...It was fun while it lasted ;) Hope you sank them all!

Basil Dreadflint 03-10-2010 02:39 PM

Tonight would normally be a guild night. RL has been kicking me HARD the last few weeks, and I just haven't had much time to even get in game, let alone plan anything special.

I apologize.

Does anyone have any ideas for anything for tonight? Otherwise, I'd just plan on normal guild stuff.

lostmymarbles 03-11-2010 02:33 AM

ooo mischief and mayhem

*pfft ... rl does kick your tush when you go on vacation..

PS: the montage of DW bodies is pretty cool, imo. An apparently we are all tat and jewelry hounds. (i love Picasso's blue period stuff ... but yeah, its a little creepy).

In case you haven't figured it out, I'm having MASSIVE internet problems at my hotel. I can't seem to keep an internet connection for more than a minute or two, then I disco.

I've spent hours talking with the isp tech people, and they tell me that nothing is wrong, that it's my puter. I took it to Starbucks and paid their dang fee, and it connects up just fine!

In order to even post this, I had to write it in word, have it cipied and ready to paste in here. Even then, it didn't post til the second try.

I'm telling you all this because, A) I have all the time in the world to be ingame, and can't, and B) I can't scedule a guild night event since I can't play.

I'll keep trying, but until someone figures out what's wrong, I'm pretty much on forced AFK.

Sorry you missed last night Basil.

Grats on the BB TK! I know a few of you said you were ready to take back the Pearl, next week perhaps?

Wednesday night Guild night! 3/24.

GM Challenge!

Teams of 2 players, and I won't tell anyone what the challenge is until just as we get the game started. I'd like to kick things off as close to 9PM Eastern as possible.

It's something we never did before.
