A friend of mine was recently banned for talking about music. He said "Listening to Deadmau5 now, Got some Boys Noize and Daft Punk later on my WMP playlist." (Ever heard of those guys? If not, than we have some serious differences in music taste...) I said "Yeah I love those guys. What about Chris Lake?" He said "Yep getting stuff from iTunes now

I don't wanna say too much on this, it's flat out crazy.

It's a tragedy, really. PNC is all really disappointed about this misunderstanding :P

Sven Osymthe 07-25-2010 01:09 AM

Bad Andrew! You know better than to say yay!

In all seriousness.. you should contact them. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the way the first to words sound together.. although you clearly didn't mean anything wrong.

muffin pirate 07-25-2010 01:19 AM

That is so weird... Contact D on that.

Andrew 07-25-2010 01:35 AM

I sent an email back explaing the whole situation, I also tried to log in and it took me to a page the said the back is only for 24 hours, so no biggy really. Honestly I could use a little break from the game. xD

muffin pirate 07-25-2010 01:39 AM

Way to think positive!

It annoys me that Disney's method of banning is so simple, that it often bans those who really don't mean anything bad.

Disney's "ban machine" simply scans, and if it finds one or two phrases that don't fit together appropiately, you get banned. It's like taking a document, and only reading two sentences in the middle of it. It doesn't give you the full story, and makes you think something different, than if you actually could read it all.

What I think they should do, is not just skim and scan for a phrase. Instead, when the machine finds a phrase or phrases it doesn't like, it will take the phrase(s), and then take the 5 phrases above and below it, with the bad phrases in red. Then, it will be sent to a worker for Disney. It should look something like this: (NOTE: This is just an example)

Quote:

The following dialogue, used by [player name], shows possibilities of abusing the Pirates of the Caribbean Online chat system, by giving signs of breaking the agreement of [insert rule here, in this case, "no use of inappropiate language.]

Joe Shmoe: I hope I get good loot.
Joe Shmoe: Darkhart hasn't dropped anything good recently.
Joe Shmoe: Can you guys not use blunderbuss? I can't seem to get a shot in.
Joe Shmoe: Thanks! :)
Joe Shmoe: Sweet, another skull! Let's hope this is good...
Joe Shmoe: GAH
Joe Shmoe: Yay, vest.

Joe Shmoe: Err, darn raider, almost scared me in to hitting the X on the loot panel.
Joe Shmoe: Hehe, how do I look?
Joe Shmoe: Now all I need is red pants!
Joe Shmoe: C'mon Dark, papa needs new pants!
Joe Shmoe: LOL!

Ban this user?
[Yes] [No]
If yes, for a period of [insert time].

Based on this broader amount of information, the banner can get a better idea of what was said and why, which could save a lot of innocent pirates.

Of course, due to the amount of man power and the time Disney has, this is highly improbable this would happen. But it would be nice.

CaptainMonkeys 07-25-2010 01:56 AM

The funny part is, there was an awkward silence between those two phrases :P

Andrew 07-25-2010 02:11 AM

I tried to get a hold of them on their Live Chat and it said I had to log in. Of course what happens when I try to login? This message:

I click the OK button and it takes me here: http://disney.go.com/index ... like nothing is done at all.

CaptainMonkeys 07-25-2010 02:13 AM

Oh well... just wait it out :p then talk to them about it. Or better yet... call them >:[

muffin pirate 07-25-2010 02:14 AM

Not sure what you should do now....

Andrew 07-25-2010 02:23 AM

Yes but they said that the ban would not start untill I agreed to their terms, which I can't do apparently.

Sven Osymthe 07-25-2010 02:25 AM

You should be fine Andrew, at the top it said the ban is over tomorrow at 4:36 PDT.

The Skirata Clan 07-25-2010 04:28 AM

They should ban for maybe an hour or so while a Disney Cast member reviews and evaluates the infraction and/or decide it there was an infraction at all.
