Right now, I only have TMI installed. But I got it to work again somehow. Hopefully it stays there. Lol.

@Dawkta: I use Winrar. Mostly because I've found that most instructions on how to install stuff use it.

Only TMI? Have all of your files been inserted? Also, have you deleted META-INF? Although that would just be a black screen... Maybe just export your saves to somewhere safe, delete .minecraft, and run the .exe again. Then reinstall TMI with your fresh install of MC.

I use 7zip, because it's free, for one, and it has drag-n-drop.

It's alright now. It was just being stupid for the time being :P I just had to reinstall TMI xD

maybe that's what I should do... export my saves and reinstall MC... if I decide to do that though how would I do it? just delete the .minecraft? or would I need to do something else too?

Just delete the bin folder. The next time you login to minecraft, it'll download a new one for you.

Dog Gunmorgan 08-11-2011 03:31 AM

Just the Bin? not the whole .minecraft?

Tom Sharkwash 08-11-2011 03:51 AM

If you want you can just open up the launcher hit options, force update, and then just login and it should reset your minecraft.jar

Dog Gunmorgan 08-11-2011 04:02 AM

yeah I tired that trick but there is still a bunch of junk in Minecraft.jar so I think it'd be best to just delete it and reinstall ... I'm just gonna for it. I did put my saves files in a safe place but even if I lose them there's nothing important that I can't rebuild.

Your saves should be unaffected by deleting the bin folder. The only way your saves would be unplayable by deleting your bin is if you had mod items still in your world. And yes, just the bin. Deleting your .minecraft will work, but it's more tedious than deleting your bin.

Well I tired deleting just the bin as you said but it was an epic fail the game would not load it didn't download a new bin or anything like that so I wiped the whole .minecraft and then forced an update that worked perfectly then I just drag and dropped my saves into the saves folder from my safe place and loaded up the game again an it works perfectly. in a little bit here I'm going to try and get TMI and SPC back because I really like having those on my building world because it's a pain to build stuff in a downpour with no supplies... and I would like to get planes mod but it seams extreamly complicated to install so I might just forget about that one for the time being.

To backup your bin and worlds, just copy and paste them.

pieisbetter2 08-11-2011 06:12 AM

So I can just copy and paste them into another folder? Sounds easy enough.

Yes, although it wouldn't hurt to put another copy on a file sharing website or a flash drive.

WitchdoctorDan 08-11-2011 07:34 AM

I have a backup folder alongside my mods folder for every game for this kind of thing. Just a little tip for future modding.
