And regarding the screenies.. I've been able to use short cut Print Screen Key and save it to Paint. My F9 key goes directly to the Pirates folder.

I tested screen capturing a bit last night and it was still quite broken for me...but we all know D doesn't like me. :tongue8:


ETA: And Cass is now a whopping level 5...

The issue with screenshots overwriting themselves (ie not changing their names) is a directx issue as far as I can tell.
Its always been that way, discovered this problem when using Vista (Laptop does not support OpenGL), and discovered the fix playing with API settings on my XP system at home.

I had the same problem, changed my API to OpenGL (which luckily my system supports), and the problem disappeared.

DX9: Press F9, immediate rename screenshot or wait a couple minutes.
OpenGL: Press F9 to your hearts content, it works as expected.

Tomorrow night is the first night of this 2 night event. If you are already in a crew for it, start planning when, where and how you are going to meet up. If you are signed up, but not in a crew, don't worry. I make the rules, so I can bend them. I will make sure that you get a chance to participate.

Please, review the rules, ask me any questions you may have. Since there are less restrictions than the first time, it is going to be harder for me to keep track of any issues once the game begins. It's better to ask your questions now.

Scavenger List

For the evening:
Don't forget the rules of the Scavenger Hunt.
Random teleporting guidelines are suspended. Teleport at will.
You can use any server, or change servers as need be.
Purv may teleport to any crew at any time.
Sections 1, 2, and 3 require screenies and all crew members must be in the screen shot.
Section 4 is questions that you must answer, you can split up, or do these at time periods when not all crew members are available.
Don't forget, any screenies that are posted/ or answers that are PM'ed AFTER 12 NOON Eastern do not count!
Don't post the question answers in the threads, PM or email them to me.
Since the Scavenger Hunt is a two night event, each night is separate. You cannot get credit for items from the first list if they are not posted by noon tomorrow.

Section 1
Fighting Enemy Bosses.
Screenie's required. Remember, all crewmates must be in the picture.
For each enemy Boss that you fight, you receive 2 X that Boss' skill level.
Example: Samuel in Beckett's Quarry. Team one fights him and he is level 15, they get 30 points.
But when team two fights him and he is level 18, they get 36 points.

You are only allowed to claim credit for each Boss once! No double credit for fighting Samuel twice.

Bonus:
If you fight 12 different Bosses, 25 points bonus.
17 different Bosses, 50 point bonus. (total)
21 different Bosses, 90 point bonus. (total)
Possible points for this task are Variable!

Section 2
Boss Battle
Now that you have battled the Bosses, go do a Boss Battle! Anyone can initiate one! You can only take your crew of 4 (5) pirates. Verification is by a single screenshot of your crew on the Pearl with the Goliath in the scene! (You have to get past all the bridges!)
75 points for the Boss Battle screenshot, a bonus of 25 extra if you add a screenshot that proves you won the BB. (The Pearl with your crew aboard sailing off into the sunset, the Goliath health meter showing that it has sunk.)

Couple of things!

One, Dang I wish I could have been on vent!!! (Stupid hotel blocking the ports,) The trash talk must have been hilarious! And WHO was claiming they had 34 Bosses? I'd have choked laughing if I had heard that claim!

Two, Thank everyone who posted the results, or PM'ed the answers to the questions. Y'all did a great job of itemizing and marking things up for me. Last hunt it took me (as you will remember) over 2 weeks to figure it all out. This one, as I'm still gonna be OCD about it, I should have the results back by ,,,,,, Oh,,, I don't know,,,,,,, Maybe,,,, Tuesday, just before I post part 2 list!!!

Thirdly, I hope everyone enjoyed it. If you remember, the enemy Bosses and the ability to rerun the BB only got released a day or two before the first hunt. As soon as that one was over, I already knew that there would be enemy bosses and BB's involved in this hunt.

Basic observance: Part Deux took a big lead in the Bosses, but lost it back on not getting the BB. Rum Runners and Ruthless Raiders did the best on the Qand A, and tied for that section.

Will give scoring details and answers after I do the score verification in a couple o days.

They estimated their Boss kills the same way the scores will be tallied.... they doubled the numbers .

Well - we knew we were in trouble with BB's from the lockups, the late time, and having 2 pirates out of 4 under 20... so we pushed harder for the extra bonus on Bosses... seems to paid off :)

I totally missed that! or I would have mentioned that there 'are' over 40 boesses - just to stir the pot even more LOL :D

Keep your team as close to the way it was for part 1 as possible! i.e. Hunny stays with Ruthless Raiders, if at all possible. What I am really concerned about is if someone can't make it, and finding a replacement, orif we get more people involved, that weren't teamed up for part 1.

After letting it stew for a few days, I finally sat and redid the scoring for part 1.

Remember Rule number 6 and 7!

And now, without further ado, I give you the scores for Dueces Wild Scavenger Hunt II, Part 1.


Team PETR --- 890 points
Team Rum Runners --- 814 points
Team Part Deux --- 830 points
Team Ruthless Raiders --- 867 points

After carefully evaluating every pic and answer to each question, the scores changed slightly from the first evaluation. Rum Runners had one pic posted twice, and another that wasn't theirs, so their score dropped. I also gave the super secret bonus of 18 points to PETR for doing the BB with only 3 pirates, since Cat couldn;t go, and I also gave it to Part Deux for their 2 attepmts at the BB, even tho they didn't win it, because they were the only team that had 2 team mates under level 20 on their team.

I will give full scoring details after the second part of the Scav Hunt is totally over.

NO TEAM is eliminated from winning. There is still plenty of chance for every team to pull this one out.

Now for tonight, there are going to have to be a few team changes. We ave a couple people who were there last week, not going to make it tonight, and a few new people who would like to join. SO, I will get ingame as soon as I can, around 7:30, and try to organize and reassign teams. Please help me with a little cooperation. The sooner that everyone is teamed, the sooner I will post the list for tonight.

Not penalized!!! I counted them as scores the first pass, so I had to take them away after I had a chance to reevaluate everything! So, your score shifted about 48 points. I had given you credit for 16 Bosses initially, but you only had 14.

Sven, Thats what happened...On the first go he added in the score of the 2 pics so at first we got credit where we should not have

The 18 bonus points had nothing to do with beating the BB. It had to do with the conditions that each team had going into the BB.

PETR had a player start the hunt at level 4 or 5, and then Cass couldn't go on the BB cause she is limited. I offered to bring in Lars, at level 17, to give them 4 players for the BB. but they went after it all by themselves, and beat it. I had already set aside 18 points for just such a situation. The original teams were supposed to be only 4 players. One HAD TO BE level 20 or less. If everything had worked out correctly, those 18 points would have been given to the team who had the LOWEST level player on their team. Then the teams got changed. Some had 5 and others only 4. Part Deux was the only team with 2 players under level 20, and only 4 players total, making them the most junior team. THEN they had disco problems, I watch the logins and logouts. I saw what was happening. I gave them the 18 points out of pure respect for what they at least aattempted to do. If they had just said no, and not even tried, I wouldn't have given them the points.

Now, with all that being said, I will take the points away from Part Deux, since they are the ones who want to give them up. But PETR is keeping theirs!

Screenie's required. Remember, I must see your ship and the enemy ship(s) in the pic, And, I must see the crew HUD displaying all crew members names. I know this does not prove that all crew members are on board, but this is to be taken as proof.
From the lists below, select one enemy fleet that you will do battle with. Battle one of each ship tpye from that fleet. Scoring is 2 X the ships value (the ships's level) for each ship.
Sink one of each type of ship in your enemy fleet, 100 Bonus points.
Now for the SUPER BONUS!
You must complete your entire fleet to even attempt this part. After you have completed one entire fleet, go after a sceond (different) one. This time you recieve straight points based on the ships level, but if you do a full second fleet, you get an additonal 125 bonus points. YOU MUST do one complete fleet first! If you give me pics of different fleets, but neither is complete, you will only recieve credit for one fleet, and no credit at all for the second one. If you complete one fleet, but not the second one, you will be given credit for those ships in the second fleet that you sank, but no bonus for the second fleet.

So a few questions?

1) We got all the ships - though our Death Omen has no number. We would think the pic counted for the total group (completing the set for 125 points) but it gets Zero score (which we're fine with - no number = no score) - would this be correct? Or is it gonna get a 'low score' value as mentioned in some threads?

2) As we started with 4 and picked up players (we should of called our team Sarah and the Lv 20's Munchkins LOL :D since we were all 20s except for Sarah) - obviously the first pics would count as they were taken before they joined. Since each team had to have 4 players minium in the shots - would this be the accepted practice? (for example - you start with 4 and take some shots - you pick up 1 or 2 and they are in your shots - you lose 1 and get more shots - but because there is at least 4 in the group the shot its a good kill)?

OK, OK, I'm just an innocent bystander...but how did land battles "J" work out? The only mobs higher than level 40 are driving level 41+ ships...and nobody was supposed to glitch...so how on earth did anyone get that?

Well, I posted my question after the deadline...but still. Was it just a typo? I mean, I was ready to join DW on open with my level 50 pirate just to show it could be glitched. :-)

Actually, if it didn't say "LAND BATTLES" then it is possible without glitching...after taking off the masts and parking behind a level 41+ ship, just shoot the captain with round shot or grape shot until a high level captain appears. I don't think it is possible to get a conclusive screenshot of it though, without glitching.

Bah, maybe I should break out my level 80 pirate instead. :-)

No - Basil has a habit of putting one question on the list as an almost if not impossible task (ah, hello... pantaloons? LOL) - its like a trick question... if your team gets fooled into taking time to find it - too bad for you ;)

Oh, and I just bought a new War Clipper Ship if you wanna take it out with that new L50 pirate of yours ;)

My team spent about an hour (probably longer... LoL) working on a level 41 and then level 43, and never got a captain higher than that enemy's normal level (ie - lots of level 33 Raiders). Unless we were just really unlucky, I'm thinking they took that out.

I did post a couple of example pics in my team's (PETR) thread, btw.

And every few minutes I would say that, "This doesn't even exist". Haha, let it be known I was not fooled!

And as far as I know, there is no current flying glitch (because when D's not busy giving girls complexes and not fixing the really harmful/annoying bugs, they're trying their hardest to limit my in-game hobbies).

I have a few things to say, so put on your reading glasses, grab a beverage of your choice, sit back and get comfortable!

First off, You all amaze me! I cannot believe that you would all fight so hard and long to participate in an event that has absolutely no signifcance other than to say "I did it!" I admire all of you, and am proud to play the game with you!

Second, Obsessive Compulsive doesn't even BEGIN to describe it. I never intended for anyone to sink the entirety of ALL 3 FLEETS. You don't even get points for the third one! The instructions were for one, then a bonus for a second one. Yet every team tried for, and I think got, all 3! (Haven't really gotten a chance to verify that.)

(Note: for those of you who got pics, but because of the Lightning reflection or other reason, can't see the ships value: I will look at the shot to verify it, and give you the same value as the LOWEST of the other teams for the same ship type. EG. A Juggernaut, but can't see it's score, the other teams score a 41, a 43, and a 44 for the Juggie, I will give you 41. I think that is fair.)

Thirdly, those of you who posted were even concerned about the double posting rule here on POF. Asking the Mods to forgive, or even merge the posts for you! Unbelieveable!

I apologize to those of you who stayed up til the wee hours, trying to finish the complete list, but again, I never asked/expected you to go after all 3 fleets, and I even said that early in the Hunt, when questioned. 2 fleets got you all the points. The third fleet earned you nothing, except bragging rights.

Next, I would like to thank you all for being so flexible. The intent is for the teams to be stable, evenly matched, and well organized. Adding, making up for losses of crewmates, taking on 'extra' players, in my opinion, makes it that much harder. Trying to get a screenie with 7 players is much tougher than with 4. I know, because I've tried it. To answer Max's question in the earlier post, of course they all count! I watched, and commented on, the number of people getting booted, relogging, etc., and I would never penalize a team because of that, or the lack of the "added" players that came in in the middle of the game.


Most importantly, to me as GM and as organizer of the Hunt, I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GOOD TIME!!! After all, it's just a game, and our guild nite events are just a way to break up the monotony of grinding weqpons, June, and Gunner, only playing alone, or in our small groups that we would otherwise tend to break up into.

I"ll start scoring as soon as I can, but it's going to be a little tough on me from now through Friday. Ending this job assignment tomorrow, got to pack up and ship the 6 computer systems, travel to another hotel tomorrow night, and travel Friday. I will work on it as time is available.
(Since I just got notice of my 24 hour Disney vacation, I should have a little time, since I won't be ingame! See the Ban thread.)

Now for the part of this post that I have had to sit and debate for the past hour or so:

I was notified by PM, from a few different people, that there was some "cheating" going on during the contest... Not just a little, or for one or two items, but throughout the entire event, covering both nights.
Basically, one person, on one team, was having friends from outguild go look for the targets/ships/enemies, telling that person to teleport to them, then bugging out, so that that person could bring their team to the proper site to claim the enemy. I also heard that they were using 2 ships to go after the enemies, but since they were crewed, the pic depicts them as all being on the same ship. (I even had something in the rules/ list post about this.) It's not just one person reporting this, but a few.

My original inclination was to just say"PIRATE", the way Jack, Elizabeth, Will, Barbossa, all say it in the movie. Lie, Cheat, Steal, and generally bend the rules to the breaking point to achieve your desired outcome. But after hearing about this from different sources, finding out that people left the game early because of it, and knowing how hard everyone else worked at it, I can't just do that!

These Guild Night events are just that, for the GUILD! We all belong to this guild for our own various reasons, but a large part of that is because we actuallly enjoy each others company, and think of each other as friends. If I, or anyone else in the guild, had wanted this to be open to the entirety of the POTCO population, all 2,000,000 + registered members, then it wouldn't be a Guild event.

Cheating such as this is a violation of our trust in each other, and our friendships. It taints the entire Scavenger Hunt game, and puts all the results in question. I strive hard to make the contest fair, accurate, and the teams evenly matched. I did allow a couple of outguild people to "Ride Along" , but that would not skew the results. They were CREW, not scouts.

I've been sitting here staring at this post, trying to decide what to do, how to score and deal with this. I don't want to cause any consternation amoung you, my friends and guildmates. (Notice, I have not named names nor pointed any fingers. And I won't!) SInce I won't have too much chance to score it over the next few days, I am going to act as if it didn't happen (for now), until after I have done a full scoring. Before I post the final results, I will have to come to some decision.

I post this info more for myself and those who PM'ed me, than for general comment or feedback. (Not that I could stop any of you from providing feedback.) Those of you who know me for the past almost year, know that I will try to do what is most fair for the group, and try to minimize any and all problems with the best of intentions.

One last item: YES, As Max said, I tend to put at least one "Impossible" task in every list! Or one Unanswerable or trick question. No, it wasn't a typo, it was deliberate. For a short time, there were level 41 plus enemies, usually as Captains on the Colossus or Behemoth Flag. Putting that, or a trick question int he list, gives the Hunt the added challenge of "Finding" the one task that should be ignored. Most of the teams caught the unanswerable questions from last week. The NPC poker players at the table vary! They are never the same from server to server, or sometimes from one time you enter the tavern to the next. The other one was the amount of gold given out by Captain Job. It varies depending on the level of the pirate taking on the quest.

AGAIN, Thank-you ALL for making this a great event, and an even greater GUILD!!!

I didn't worry about this too much as I'm not sure if a sing post had a image limitation... the last board I supervised did - so for such contests (note: only certain circumstances!) we allowed it... I'll have to check to see if there is one here. :)

I'm sure as official ref and the boss - whatever the score will be will be fine with all of us, because it's just such a great time playing the event :D I think no one will argue that we all had a great time :D

Thx Basil for feeding my addiction, its been a while since I was up to 1AM playing POTCO and didn't want to quit.

After due consideration, I have made a change in how I am GOING to score the Scavenger Hunt.

(I'm tired of the griping in the PM's about who sank all 3 fleets, and that "I missed the chat that said you only had to sink two fleets", and the whining, moaning, and general bellyaching.)

Here is what I decided: Since EVERY team went after all 3 fleets; I will score the first fleet as each ship at 2X their level value. Sink the entire fleet you get the bonus. I will score the second fleet at face (level) value, and if sank the entire fleet, you get that bonus. For the third fleet, the one I told everyone they didn;t HAVE TO sink, and they got no points for,, yeah that fleet, I will score them in and give you points at face value only.. No bonus!

This way, all your hard work to get the third fleet gives you some points. (I wouldn't do this if even ONE team had listened/read the instructions, and NOT sank the third fleet. LOL)

Now, quit PMing me about the third fleet, and let me start scoring! (Luv ya all.) ( Well, kinda like ya all.) (Cept when ye whine and cry. ) LOL!

Hey Ive been gone for a couple o days..... Rumrunners was one of the teams who had a ridealong. He is a kid and I didnt mind. However IN NO WAY was he a scout for us. He would pop on my ship from time to time to sink what he needed for a quest. However, our team would split up and take our own ships out to search.
