Maintenance

We are sorry!
Pirates of the Caribbean Online is currently unavailable.
We apologize for the inconvenience and are working quickly to resolve the problem. Please try again soon.
Thank you for your patience!

Its 8:41am (PST)
Please work... T.T

Captain Celtics 02-12-2011 05:57 PM

Well, I'm basic and it says "Don't want to wait? Upgrade today!"

I guess they think that I am stupid or something, lol.

Captain Sharktooth 02-12-2011 06:11 PM

Bleh..... I hope they fix it soon. I hope they stayed up for a good chunk of last night trying to resolve some of it!

rawrr_Quenn 02-12-2011 07:24 PM

They didn't say anything bout when it was going to be back up, did they?

Tiberius Fireskull 02-12-2011 07:26 PM

They didn't. We can only hope for later today.

Ropeburn 02-12-2011 07:29 PM

I hope for now.. heh...:P

Some of yall should go do some homework now or read a book, perhaps go outside :P

jk

Guess i'll check out test

sharynjean 02-12-2011 07:40 PM

I am all for being patient, I have tons of errands to run, however.... This is day 6 this month where the game has either been closed for maintenence or there's been a glitch, and then the game crashed. And it's only the 12th. I'm not at all fond of paying for a product that I can only use, if lucky, half the time. If Disney knows what's good for them, they will reimburse those that are paying for the game for this month. However, dealing with their customer service people/tech support, I wouldn't expect any kind of competence from this company.

The Stealthy Pirate 02-12-2011 08:14 PM

I have to admit... they will start refunding us when they let me go onto test... which was about a year ago i sent the asking if i can be on...

Maria Goldcutter 02-12-2011 08:30 PM

I have been playing this game for 3 years and have never seen such a huge crash...usually there is a small one after they do thier updates or scheduled maintence..but always come back on in a few hours. This has been 2 days now.
Maybe they should be putting some of the servers back to handle the high traffic?? I will be calling them for a credit.

maggie mae 02-12-2011 09:29 PM

No they havent said. I got on live chat they were no help either. I was so hoping to play today. They did tell me if you played last evening you would probably lose what ever you gained but if you played in the morning you should be ok. Sorry Im not holding my breath. This is the second time this month. That Ive lost out on a sadurdays play time.

Captain Will Cannonfury 02-12-2011 10:04 PM

I am very angry at POTCO. If they're not done with fixing this annoying bug. I will flip out because The Glorious Order is supposed to have a guild tournament for a guild event in about an hour!!!!!!!!!

Well, that didnt really ask for a bug, so you cant really blame them, this laways happens when you have new stuff. it's wither no new stuff, no bugs or new stuff, and sometimes something goes wrong.

Hookshot 02-12-2011 10:52 PM

yeah I really dislike all of tis too, and in an e-mail they said the Boards would be back up and running, well to my "surprise" they weren't. I mean we really can't blame them. They are going through budget cuts and they're getting more and more people their engines must be running through the wall... I feel sympathetic for them but at the same time, I really think they should have prepared more for this.

maggie mae 02-12-2011 10:52 PM

Just off the phone with Disney, they were polite but unable to say when it would be back on-line. The guy I talked to did say however that Ravens Cove did not cause this problem. That the tech dept. was still working hard on getting it back up and running. Lets keep our fingers crossed that this does not last the entire weekend.

Yay! Now we can be doomed to a life of lag and Disconnects for the rest of our POTCO lives! You won't even be able to walk through any main island without getting disconnected! The only time we will be able to play will be 3:00 AM, and even then we will have lag! Can't wait!

Anyway, it probably is something to do with the servers.

They were prepared, but there wasn't anything else they could do to prepare.

_kaytay_ 02-12-2011 11:52 PM

Wow i've been gone about 6 hours and was hoping to come back home to play and they're still doing maintenance. That's one day of my free month wasted.

titanic95594 02-13-2011 12:12 AM

^ You should have seen the maintenance they did 4 months ago. They were down for 14 hours! (I think)

Isaiah Ropeswine 02-13-2011 12:17 AM

Wonder how long they'll keep this up....

maggie mae 02-13-2011 12:31 AM

Ive been checking throughout the day and they are still down. I would have to agree that its been a long time but i think for me any way its been almost 24 hours now. Its almost 4:30 pm my time and it started messing up at about 5pm. Im glad this doesnt happen very often. Im trying to be patient, and i understand that they are working on this, that it could take awhile, but isnt this going a bit long for down time and repairs.

The Stealthy Pirate 02-13-2011 12:38 AM

:piratesing::treas:Sigh.... i took a break... still under the maintenance... wonder how long they will keep this up.

Are you kidding me? This happens everytime they have done a maintenance...just not to this extent.

Ropeburn 02-13-2011 01:03 AM

.......
Dear diary,
It has been 12 hours without POTCO I don't know how to keep this up
I am really starting to lose sanity, I need to get a grip.
.........
Will Ropeburn find true sanity?
How long will maintenance will last?
Find out next time.. XOXO

Maria Goldcutter 02-13-2011 01:08 AM

Just got off the phone with Tech support..

They said that it possibly might be up and running functional by this afternoon or evening..(California Time)

I asked what happened.. She said that when they were doing thier scheduled Maintence and updates it didn't go as planned, and didn't finish correctly.
I asked about issuing credits...she said that once the game is fixed and up and running, depending on how long..that might be a possibility.

I asked her what happens if you lost things..such as me leveling up to notoriety 50 before the crash, and then signing on this morning and being a level 49.
She said don't worry about anything until the game is fixed and running.. if anyone has lost anything..She is pretty sure Disney would work with the people that lost stuff and try to get it back for them.

So that is it..

A little shred of light on a dark day in the caribbean perhaps.

rawrr_Quenn 02-13-2011 01:17 AM

You think they'd at least notify people and tell us when they expect to have it up and ready. There's going to be a lot of angry customers. =/

Tiberius Fireskull 02-13-2011 01:22 AM

The thing is, that they don't know when they will be done. They have a MASSIVE bug on their hands, and it looks like a little reset won't squash it. I honestly wouldn't be too shocked if POTCO was closed down for tomorrow as well, all though I hope it isn't...

The Stealthy Pirate 02-13-2011 01:22 AM

sigh... i hope they fix this...

_kaytay_ 02-13-2011 01:36 AM

I'm an angry customer and i'm not even paying yet but I did just upgrade for a free month today and now the day is wasted. It's 6:28 p.m. central time here and by the time they get it fixed i'll be in bed if my child lets me.

Davy Bluekidd 02-13-2011 01:38 AM

Never seen a matienece THIS long before (except when they were changing the Beta 1 phase to Beta 2...)
However, I say everyone who has test meets up on it :P
Remember, programming is VERY tough, and this is the biggest bug POTCO has faced.
Remeber, patience!

pieisbetter2 02-13-2011 01:47 AM

There isn't much we can do but wait this thing out. Bugging the tech support people won't make the process speed up. And everyone is blaming the removal of the servers, which I can sort of agree on. But everyone is also saying that Disney did it for no reason. That is totally not true. Maybe they couldn't support the servers anymore. They didn't just take them away because they felt like it. Keeping a game like this together is harder work then it sounds. Back at the offices where pirates is run, I assure you, every person in there is trying to fix this terrible bug.

Solomon O 02-13-2011 01:54 AM

Potco Resets

So for the past couple of days, Pirates has been reseted over and over. I was gonna buy membership today or tomorrow but no Im wondering what will happen If they decide to reset it to right before I got my membership. That will mean I loose my membership and i wasted money :(

Will pirates be givving it back after its been fixed. Or is it best to wait till this has been fixed?

Captain Celtics 02-13-2011 02:16 AM

Making a transaction with disney wouldn't be erased by them resetting the game servers.

Captain Will Cannonfury 02-13-2011 02:53 AM

I don't know about that Solo because I just got access yesterday and when my pirate like restarted what it did on Friday Night I still had my Unlimited Access. Or if that happens to you then contact Disney.

The Stealthy Pirate 02-13-2011 02:53 AM

I hate playing the waiting game...

Captain Will Cannonfury 02-13-2011 03:13 AM

Man oh man I didn't expect the maintenance to be this long! Well, I might as well listen to some Potc songs and watch some Potc movies too. :dancetl6:

bartholomew bladeroberts 02-13-2011 03:22 AM

even though test is VERY buggy i can still get on

ego4th 02-13-2011 03:35 AM

I wouldnt call this maintenance. This is disaster recovery. But even restoring backup tapes wouldnt take this long? I noticed that they didn't post the message and start repairs until 8am PST when support opened. Now that support has gone home for the day I wonder if they are still working on it at all.

Captain Will Cannonfury 02-13-2011 03:39 AM

HEY GUYS! XD I THINK YOU CAN PLAY IT NOW!!! The play button is red YAY! - cheers -

Slouyx 02-13-2011 03:40 AM

Yes, the game is open.

titanic95594 02-13-2011 03:40 AM

Its ready to play!

Captain Will Cannonfury 02-13-2011 03:40 AM

and hopefully its fixed

Slouyx 02-13-2011 03:49 AM

Not exactly. Once again, Kokojillo is the only usable server. Members in guilds were lost. And you can't stay on the game for more than 4 minutes without getting booted.

_kaytay_ 02-13-2011 03:55 AM

i clicked on the play button and at the top it still has the maintenance message

Slouyx 02-13-2011 03:57 AM

Pirates Of The Caribbean Online has shut down once more.

Captain Will Cannonfury 02-13-2011 03:58 AM

Oh wow............. we got maintenance again! This is one of the worst days in history of Potco. Today I was planning to lvl up my sailing and dagger then do my guild tournament. - sigh -

Florence 02-13-2011 04:01 AM

has it been closed for the whole day? i tried to go on this morning and it was on maintenance. i tried in the afternoon, still the same, and just now, still the same.

Captain Will Cannonfury 02-13-2011 04:05 AM

Pretty much it has been closed the whole day.

I was able to log on for about two minutes, long enough to see that enemies would not die, or attack, and to see that Hull Ripper that I looted Friday morning was removed from my inventory..

I believe we also lost a few recently guilded pirates as well...

ruisen2000 02-13-2011 04:10 AM

What about to unlimited members? Do they get a refund for everyday they cant play? Eveny time they have maintence, unlike before which takes place in midnight for an hour, now it's a whole day!
I'm really bored and have nothing to do except watch WoW on youtube :xxxk0:

I am annoyed.

Paying $50 for 6 months and with all the maintenance and updates (not just these last couple weeks) the game is nearing about a month worth of downtime. Essentially, Out of 182 approx. days, all the downtime will account for close to 14 to 21 days.

I'm definitely going to re-evaluate when my 6 months is up. Might not be worth renewing.

Tiberius Fireskull 02-13-2011 05:32 AM

Guys, chill. Its ONE DAY. ONE OUT OF THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE! It is not that big of a deal! Would you rather have one or two days taken out of your play time to fix a bunch of bugs, or would you rather be able to play for a week while disconnecting/crashing every half hour and not being able to access anything? Just think about that. Honestly, I just hope that they CAN fix this bug. If they can't, well, I'm not sure what they'd do. Just be patient. Its best that they keep it closed for as long as it takes them to fix it, so that we can have a fun time playing later.

Slouyx 02-13-2011 05:35 AM

What I found ludicrous was this:

Two members who were booted for being inactive yesterday were gone, AFTER new members were guilded. They were unnaffected and not brought back to the guild through the reset.
HOWEVER.

The 4 members who were guilded AFTER the two members were booted were lost in the reset. We now only have contact with one of them, and have no way of getting our lost guildies back to their home.

The few promotions AFTER were also unaffected.

This is highly frustrating and I hope Disney can/ is working restore guild members who recently lost their new home.

Aye what Davy said.
And also instead of all this we could maybe support them. We needed a break from the game lol and I think that game should be closed for about 2 days with no openings so in the end everything is good to go. This would give them the time required to fix everything and test the game themselves.

Tiberius Fireskull 02-13-2011 05:38 AM

^ As do I. We all know that recruiting can be boring at times, and to lose those members in a mistake by Disney is quite irritating. Its like you wasted your time, aye? Best thing to do is just to wait and see how this turns out.

And thank you Leo, I also think that we should support them. Just let them take our time. If you think about it, a big reason we are all so frustrated is probably because we have been playing so much, that when the game goes away, we are lost without it. Go and take a break, get some fresh air, eat some food (thats what I'll be doing...). Perhaps this is a good time for us all to take a break. :)

Mates! I have good news! Pirates Online is back up and when I logged on I wasn't lvl zero I didn't see anybody else a lvl zero either. And then I tried defeating an enemy I did in Fort Dundee I got rep! I think Disney fixed it. But the bad part is, the stuff you guys did on Friday Night seemed like it didn't happen at all. That is the down part. We have to restart. and hopefully the bug is fully fixed guys. After about 15 hours of waiting! Phew! Well, I gotta go off to bed and cya mates tomorrow.

Crestshot 02-13-2011 09:14 AM

Sorry to squash it, but it's down again. They even counted down the minutes for us. One. By. One. If I lose the pretty 'lil Valentine's shirt I got as they told me this, I'm going to be one unhappy pirate, especially as I haven't had the chance to get on in DAYS....

maggie mae 02-13-2011 09:19 AM

I saw zero level pirates when I got on tonight. So i knew it was not alll the way fixed. So I wasnt surprised when at 1:05am Sunday we got booted off. They gave us a 5 minute warning but pulled the plug at about 2 minutes. I hope it wont take all day sunday to get it up and running. I suspect that it wont take long now. I have my fingers crossed. It was good to see my level back and all my gold, weapons and inventory in tact. :piratear:

rawrr_Quenn 02-13-2011 09:56 AM

Ugh! I've been playing Mario for the whole day, and I've beat the whole game waiting for this. I just paid for this month and now I feel like I'm getting ripped off. <_<

Captain Sharktooth 02-13-2011 09:59 AM

Good thing I didn't play a lot on Friday... I really didn't do anything other than get the new Valentines Day clothes on my pirates.... So I won't be losing much thankfully!

Gratz Disney!!

Thank you alot disney...
I LOST 2 FAMED WEAPONS AND MY VOODOO DOLL IS NOT MASTER ANY MOREEEE!!!!
Now i'm asking a question.
How can i get them BACKKK????
It's waste of time playing this game.
I spent 80 dollars for this?
I will say a few words 'bring our pirates back with all the weapons, upgrades, members in guild, quests'.
That's all.

Edit:My brother lost 2 notoriety levels.From 33 to 31.
8 levels of Voodoo staff.From 15 to 7.
3 Dagger levels.From 16 to 13.
8 fishing levels.From 16 to 8.
2 grenade levels.From 13 to 11.

And a lot of good weapons he looted.

This is ridicilous!!
The company MUSN'T rewind the server without INFORMING as!
My brother and I,as GREEK PIRATES are very angry and mad with this energy,
and we DEMAND our levels and our weapons BACK...

Another MAD member which he has PAID for this game...

It may not be a big deal for you. However not all of us have a lot of money. I could definitely use some of what I've spent on something more essential than this.

I'm paying about $3.64 per day over a 182 day period. That adds up after awhile. Could be going in my gas tank or toward groceries.

I just don't know about this game anymore. It got completely messed up. Everyone lost like 3-4 days of game time. Thats just sad on Disney's part. No game with paying members should have to do that :(

There are 3 threads right below your that explains the thing that you are asking.

katrielle 02-13-2011 07:14 PM

You can't get it back... Sorry mate. It's so frustrating.

I leveled up five levels each on two of my weapons, bought a whole new outfit, and finished a quest and it all disappeared.

How are you paying $3.64 a day? Even paying once a month (which is the most expensive payment) 3.64 x 30 = 109.2. Monthly payment is only $10, unless you have 10.9 accounts....

Interruptions during Gameplay?

Has anyone else dealt with these "Interruptions?" Is there any point in going back on? If they're going to happen every ten to twenty minutes I'm not going to. And if you do get interrupted, do you lose your stuff?

I've been online for at least an hour straight and the game is perfect. Looks like it was fixed. Should be safe to go back on, but I think they reset back one or two days.

Do we really thread 3-4 different threads about the exact same thing? Just check any other thread that says the same thing you are saying and that will answer your question...

And to answer your question, you can't. It is frustrating... Yes we all know. Just be patient and happy you still get to play the game.

Yeah, I noticed that when I signed on that they reset it back a few days. I had to restart a few quests, ah well. Gives me something to do!

6 month subscription is $50.00

182 days/50 = 3.64

Anyways, Since they are extending everyone seven days I'd say that is fair compensation.

Seems to be back up for now, but it put me back in my old guild.

Wow. Guys. Calm down. Please.

I dislike having to say this, but you guys are overreacting. If you can't go without Pirates for a few days without being entirely bored, you've become WAY too addicted. Your life is centering around being able to play Pirates. It's not good. It's very bad.

Me? I'm slightly unhappy I can't play. But you know something? I found other things to do. I'm playing Pixie Hollow. I'm going to go read a good book. I'll go watch POTC movies, listen to POTC music, rearrange my swimming trophy shelf. Find something productive to do while you wait. Actually, Pirates is up at the moment with the note that we might have disco issues. It's better than not having Pirates at all.

When POTC has fixed all these nasty little bugs, Pirates will be fine for another few months. This is just a buggy few weeks. Your patience will be rewarded :)

It should be $50/182 days= 0.27/day.
since 3.64 (a day) x 182 days = $662.48 (per 6 months) not $50 per 6 months, which was what you said you paid.

Regardless, money is money.

That's not even the point. It's the principal of the matter.

But, come to think of it, UA is pretty cheap. Maybe I should get it more often. :laughks2:

Maintenance on a Wednesday?

Hey gang...tried to log on just now (1:30 EST) and it tells me the game is down for maintenance again. Anyone else find it odd that they're doing it on a Wednesday? I was logged in for a few earlier (around 9am EST) and everything was working fine. Although, if they decided to do a weekly maintenance bit, I'd not complain at all. The game is working SO well since this round of stuff they fixed this past weekend. I've had almost no problems with lag, forever loading screens, boots, etc. Anyways, anyone know how long it's been down/will be down, or maybe what's going on/what prompted it?

I'm not sure exactly what is going on but I feel the bug is still around since I saw a level 0 earlier today on Abassa. When I clicked on her player card her level was ?? as well as a lot of her weapons.
