If you notice, the kneel emote is the exact same stance your pirate is in as when they are at a cannon. If you want to see it in game, just go on a ship and look at a cannoneer. Its the exact same. I observed this recently.

lol I remember doing the kneel emote when it first happened. I honestly kneeled to this cute Southern belle I've known as a friend and openly asked her to 'marry me' in front of a lot of people. She obviously liked it. Disney/POTCO can frown about it all they want and refuse to ever bring it back, but that night, it was pure Disney magic for that Southern belle... and it was worth it. Seize the day! [or night!] ;) --- winks at everybody reading this post
