I never considered it a weapon, but I almost ALWAYS master sailing first over any other skill, as the questing requires, it as does our treasure chests (pocketbooks).

Grenades are generally what comes next, but ONLY because I hate them so, and want to get them done before they get too hard to master. They IMO are the single most useless weapon in the game. I master them quickly only because I focus on them, and HATE to work them when my pirate has moved up the notoriety levels. But thats just me. Once mastered they can be fun to mess with, but still are somewhat useless from a regular game play standpoint.

Ain't that the truth... its not like I se a group of baddies and thing "oh I'll just whip out my nades to get them ;)"

staff uses voodoo and alot

grenades only use up a second or 2 reload and throw and grenades go farther then flaming skull so if grenades are almost useless then staff must be completely junk

I voted for doll. For me it's the weapon I generally master first for the simple fact that I'm ususally helping friends and guildmates. Rep for healing, rep for the attack, it's easy to master. The skills that are the most fun to master however... Cannon and sailing!

Ye asking me?CUTLASS AND GRENADES ARE EASIEST TO LVL! Cutlass easy because it is fun and im a jumper... Grenades easy if you lvl them as soon as you get them... i always lvl them to siege by lvl 23 noto.

Easiest for me to master was the doll, but thats not what I mastered first. What I mastered first was grenades just because I hated them so much I want to master them and get it over with :D

Fun, but never more efficient. At least voodoo doesnt cost gold, and with the right passive skills maxed out, generally never becomes an issue. Most pirates dont attack enemies at the ranges your referring to, not many situations where such an ability is useful. It is very hard to hit a moving target with grenades. The staff hits everything along the line of your attack, where as the grenades hit where they land, and the staff is much easier to aim. I think the staff looks alot cooler to use! There are a few upgraded voodoo staff quests to keep us busy, there are no additional grenade quests. People often max grenades first, but that is usually because they are disliked (see others posts in this thread, its not an uncommon thought), and they want to get them done early before it gets too hard.

But there are lots of pirates, and everyone does things differently. To each his own. Perhaps we can agree to disagree on the matter, and move on.

Yupperz I'd say grenades is easiest to master as soon as u get them, you'll be done in 2 days or less.... of course its only made possible to get it done that fast with the glitch that allows u to throw nades without reloading...lol =x

1st pirate mastered sailing first...all my pirates afterward mastered grenades first coz its easy money & easy notoriety pts when u dont have staff to kill the vets on KH for gold... I was still lvl 24 notoriety last time I mastered grenades and did lvl 1-24 grenade lvls the 1st day and all of lvl 24 the 2nd day, easy.

From easiest to toughest to master:
grenades, sailing, sword, dagger, doll, gun, staff, cannons

the voodoo stuff I used to think was easy, so was gun when i first started playing potco, but then I realized voodoo ya gotta wait for it to reload/recharge & gun u can only fire 3x then u gotta reload, same goes for cannons, gotta reload after 3rd time unless ur using bolts then u gotta wait for it to reload after every single shot, and im an impatient person...haha...and with nades, the graphical glitch skips the reloading animation. Blades you don't have to wait for it to recharge unless ur doing the # attacks.

Would seem it really comes down to each pirates preference and play style.
Some of what I hear pirates say is easiest, are toughest for me, and some of what others say is toughest, are easiest. I'll stick to my preferences.. hehe

If I were to order them like everyone else.. it usually pans out like this:

Grenades (but not because they are easiest, because I focus on them due to my shear hatred of them), Sailing, Doll, Pistol, Cannons, Cutlass, Daggers, Staff

I would say Grenades, Staff, Doll, Sailing, Pistol, Daggers, Cutlass

Anything that you can kill multiple enemies with at the same time increases rep and decreases time needed to Master I took Staff from lvl 20 to 25in a couple of hours. When grinding weapons pay attention to rep earned using different attacks is it better to use blast to kill a raider in 7-8 min for 100 rep or instantly kill the 7 vets on the parade grounds with desolation at 6 rep each 42 total or 588rep in the time it took to kill the raider. Getting max rep per kill isnt always the best way to level just the most talked about.

well the grenade doesn't have to hit the enemy to kill it or attack it like what u said
it also matters on passive skills have the grenade skill for a greater blast area
and almost anywhere u throw ur grenade u will attack him

and gold is not such a problem with grenades just on kings head for the first lvls
u can make 500+ gold per half hour probably more and well idk how the staff looks cooler to use
take this in to mind ur a pirate holding a stick with a rock saying a spell not very cool IMO like a mix of harry potter and pirates well also other people max grenades cause they r cool who doesn't like to be like that grenadier in the first POTC movie

Doll only took a day, staff took two.

My easiest weapon to level is probably my staff, cutlass, and grenades. Pistol is my hardest. I have none maxed yet, these are my easiest.
