No annual accounts?? Oh that can't be right. (please) I'll be making some calls after dinner....

djr_8fan 05-27-2009 02:46 AM

Ok...decided to double check this. They still do have annual membership. Seems that the bugs and glitches arent just in the game. They ventured into the piratesonline.com website too and took away the annual option for a while. I'm very glad to see that it is back.

Sorry that I didnt get back with this till now. Too many irons in the fire here at home.

Yes, was afraid to do so since I never technically got an 'invite' for test, created the account when they let everyone join. But anyhow I did it anyways.

No response as of yet.

Live Chat

I was on live chat about this issue. What little she could tell me is this isn't planned to go to the live server. The linked accounts on test we stopped in order to stop the abuse of those that weren't invited from accessing test through friends accounts.

Zep your account was created when they opened the doors to everyone/anyone. That would be considered an invite?

Just been told by POTC Live Chat that the POTC billing system is down, Basic Access only until the maintaince is completed.

Ok, this frustrates me. That means when I creat a pirate for my son, he has to play alone. Very annoying. Very very annoying.

djr_8fan, as Di said above from what she heard from Live Chat support, this does not look like it will be pushed to Open. It was just done on Test to keep people from accessing Test who don't actually have Test accounts which, IMO, is just fine.

Well, I agree, and disagree here, as people still like to play with their family. Just wish there was a way to allow it, and 'police' it better.

I have my own test account now, but got in when they had a very brief 'open' invite.

Sure, I can see where a family could want to get on Test together and test things... But if Disney only wants people who have been given the privilege to access Test to log on, then whaddayagonnado? Their rules eh?

Evie 06-02-2009 03:59 AM

I personally think they threw their own rules out the window when they opened up a free-for-all on test one morning.

I'm glad to see that this will never make it to open, but its not the fix they're looking for. If too many unwanted players are on test, they have themselves to blame.

Augie Doodle 06-02-2009 01:47 PM

The update is now on open, the linked account change DID get applied to open "for security reasons".

Basil Dreadflint 06-02-2009 02:00 PM

Yes, the linked account ability to choose your pirate is now GONE on open. The release notes say that is for "Security reasons".

I won't say what reasons I think they did this.

Dr. Zeppers 06-02-2009 05:55 PM

Well its not the first time Disney staff have lied to us.
My annual account will not be renewed.
No more of my money for Disney, they dont deserve it, they have effectively killed the game by making changes noone wants or cares for, and cutting off access to families.
Why would anyone want to pay for an account that "JR" is going to play a couple hours a week with their parents.

Security reasons, sheesh, money grubbing reasons are more likely, it appears they have a mentaliy challenged individual guiding POTCOs development and management. The game is sliding into obscurity and lack of paid membership, not because people are using linked accounts to get around it, but because they keep eliminating the features that make the game appealing to families.

Evie 06-02-2009 06:43 PM

We're canceling both of our accounts today. We were going to try to keep them and see what came out, but this ruins the way we play, and I'm tired of what they are doing to those who have played so long.

Basil Dreadflint 06-02-2009 07:28 PM

Evie,

Don't give in. FIGHT! We are the customer here, and if Disney is truely the "Family" oriented business that they claim to be, they will listen to us. But, they can only listen to what they can hear. FIGHT!!

Post everywhere! Call, email, blog, whatever, just make them hear us!
