There is a players guide on the potco site. I haven't looked at it in a while, not sure if it's totaly updated, but it does go over the basics of game play.

As far as helping out random pirates, I'm always willing to help, but not babysit. In fact I randomly ran into a guild members kid yesterday...kind of funny. Sat there healing her for a bit when she suddenly said "Hey, my mom and her friends are in your guild!" Never know who you're going to meet ;)

Hey, they added a paragraph for Revive already... and updated the ship cargo maximums - so the instructions do get improved as the game changes.

I'll generally help random pirates, but only if I feel that they can use the help. I won't except random friend invites though. Instead, I prefer to work and chat with the person some, to try and gauge how good they'll be to play with in the future.

As for TPing without asking, I usually will give a warning before removing someone from the friends list. I tend to be a lone wolf when doing my quest and leveling,(that's just the way I am) and I don't like pirates dropping in uninvited.

But if you really want to help a noob. take him or her sailing in your big fresh War Frigate, plunder a ton of Royals and fill their pockets with gold.
Best advice yet for helping out a new player...Can't emphasize that enough!!

I'd hate to crash the party, but I'm not one to help low levels.
The ones I find NEVER listen. I once had my ship open to public for the first time to try it out, so I told the pirates ( low levels of course ) to stop shooting, but they wouldn't stop. I landed, and it was the LAST time I EVER used Public. Except not the VERY last.
Since Test Realm has mainly advanced players, I don't mind Public being on.
So, as you can see, I'm not a fan of helping newer players out, but it's my opinion.
Sooner or later I'll try again...

Oh, I forgot to add, sometimes they don't even talk, so that annoys me, because they don't even say what they need, etc.

I understand your irritation with some new players Thunder, but remember some of them are kids. Kids with chat filters.

If you think they're filtered, use the prepacked phrases to get their attention. And if they are new.. they surely don't know all of the phrases to use to ask for help.

Believe me.. as a new and infrequent player of Toontown, I get lost on Toontown's chat because I'm not familiar with it.

I think I'm in shock... all them times I've looked at that manual only to see it still holding spider-web info - and NOW they finally decide they want to keep it updated :)

Well I hope it continues :)

I admit I do hate when they don't talk, except to command you to do things or reproduce their current quest objective... That will get you cut off my list real fast.

I agree with a lot of you

new players asking this and that it be comes to much some times and if your running your own guild like me and many others i would try and set rules with the people that are in your friend s list if they keep TP let them no to ask first that's what i do if they ask you first to TP then you will not get so mad be cause you could say no i have a guild of 300 mostly low lv's and like i said some times they just got to learn on there own heck i did every thing on my own up till i needed a crew for the take back the black pearl part.

But these new people need to learn on there own most of us did.
I cant baby site 24 hours a day lol

I agree, but again, it's hard to run a guild these days...
I've never bothered.
1 cuz i'd doubt i'd get 20+ people.
2 cuz I dont know what to name.
3 cuz it'd be hard to get people.
