I don't revive people that I don't know, can't handle the enemies they're fighting with me, and expect me to revive them.

I usually tell them if they want to fight the enemy they should find some friends, because I don't like babysitting people that haven't taken the time to level up to fight enemies they want to fight.

Actually, in my case, I have more trouble with high levels harassing my low level pirate for revives, shouting impolite things like, and I quote, "Noob! Revive me! I have a voodoo staff and you don't! So REVIVE ME NOOB!" Now I'm not saying I won't revive high levels, as I'm more likely to, but ANYONE saying such hateful things can shout "HELP" until they fade away as I type /laugh. People have been kicked out of my guild for the exact same thing and, honestly, I don't miss them.

Ya, see that's just cold. I would not be reviving either in that case Dan.

It is always funny to see them go to jail after such behavior though :D

little off topic on my part here,

Isn't staff overrated now with the new broadswords? Don't have to wait for the sword to recharge before using it and it does attack every enemy nearby.

Personally, I always thought of a revive system. I hated that thought....
I don't really like the whole revive system - and with that, never wanted one in the first place - because dying, and simply going to jail, kicking open a rusted door and teleporting back to your friend - to me - seems much easier than spamming the same "Help" line 7 more times just to get revived.

My whole point: I don't like it - never did - never wanted it - hate it.
It's just me - to those of you who do like it, that's fine.

These days, I use my Bejeweled/Masterwork Broadswords over staffs. They're better since I have the chance to do a critical hit.
Plus, staffs only give 28-29 damage boosts - Broadswords like the two mentioned above give 60+ and have the chance to critical hit.

I did like it better when people just died.

Yeah, I prefer the broadsword to wither, but it doesn't replace flaming skull.

As for revive, I don't feel I am obligated to revive anyone nor is anyone obligated to revive me. I'll revive others when I can, particularly crew members, I just don't have any problem ignoring those who demand it inappropriately.

Oh, and during invasions If I'm down I'll just hit the go to jail button - beats waiting around to see if someone will revive me, they may have better things to do. No snse in having 2 pirates out of the fight instead of just one.

I agree that revive has entirely changed the "feel" of the game. Going to jail really is a Rite of Passage. I like the idea of being at least level 20 before revive works on you. But...

I revive friends, Guild and crew mates and I will drop a tonic on strangers. A simple "thanks" earns a stranger a second tonic. No big deal. No reason to be mean about it. That KO'd pirate you are messing with could be a 10 year-old kid and that makes you a bully. And being a bully is WAY worse than asking for a tonic.

Along time ago, in the early days of Invasions and Revive on Open Servers, Pirates were a little confused about just how strong Jolly Roger really was. They weren't so savvy. Savvy? One guy is yelling "REVIVE PEOPLE NOW!" and everyone else is yelling "HELP!"

Sarah gave me a work-around on the shot tag thing. So I fixed the pictures.

Off Topic: It seems like D just added keggers because people learned not to sword Jolly. Sigh, see why I don't do invasions anymore?
On topic: Over time I have stopped reviving strangers. Tonics are in short supply for me, why should I waste them on an ungrateful stranger? Maybe people that say Please and Thank You, but not people that expect me not to have better things to do.

I think revive has been one of the better additions to the game. Aye, back in the days before revive, a pirate would quickly learn their place or they would find what evil a higher level NPC could bring. There is a different feel to PvE now and not every pirate is so keen to prove their mettle. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I revive most pirates when I can and prefer reviving them to healing them.

Red Nations 06-17-2010 09:58 AM

I too think revive is a good thing, and generally don't have an issue with reviving, I won't revive or heal rep stealers or other obnoxious types. During a battle I don't see the ones spamming the chat for revive and any different than the ones who used to show up in Tormenta and then demand that we heal them when they got in over their heads.
