In beta I would have agreed that sailing was a great way to earn gold, but they really toned it WAY down since then. You really don't make that much money sailing anymore.

There are some things you can do to increase you gold intake while sailing or other times...

Before you go sailing get the 2-3 quests from Bart (something or other) he's in Port Royal in town cowering behind some boxes. He should have 2 or 3 quests for sinking ships, and oddly enough you can finish most of these without even sinking the kinds of ships described in the text. They are worth 35g each, so you make a cool 105g extra just for grabbing a couple quests on your way out to sailing.

Sam Seabones (also in Port Royal) gives 2 repeatable quests for Navy Officers and Skeletons, which are right up the road from him which are worth 25g each and can be done in about 3 mins, or even faster if you have a friend hang out at Sam and let you teleport back to them.

I've never been a gambler so I'm glad some people can make money at it, but for me I like the sure thing :dancetl6:

I know there are a lot more quests out there, but those 2 guys are the simplest and quickest I've found so far.

Poker sure isn't simple but it is quick. A few hours yesterday and today and I've got six thousand gold from it.

Fort Charles is up on a hill on Port Royal. With your back to the ocean, it will be to the left.

Is that where Elizabeth Swan is?

Elizabeth Swann is in the Gov. Mansion in Port Royal. Go through Port Royal Town and you will pass a gypsy and her cart. Keep following that path-the mansion is up there. (This is opposite the direction of Fort Charles)

Happy Plundering!

Okay.. Well, someone give me directions to Fort Charles!

Thenishall 11-07-2007 04:41 AM

Bump. Anyone know how to get there?

Cannon Mad Dan 11-07-2007 04:53 AM

Someone already said. Though, I can't believe you need directions. It's a huge stone fort on the top of a giant hill. You can see it from virtually everywhere in Port Royal.

Peggo 11-07-2007 05:58 AM

Fort Charles? It's that big fortress on Port Royal. When you're standing on the big pier, facing away from the water, Fort Charles is way up the hill to the left.
You'll be there many times in the future. :dancetl6:

Fort Charles gave me ungodly amounts of gold, lol.

Sam LockHawk 05-02-2008 02:30 AM

ya just sink ships and play card games!!

I am lvl 21 and rising and got grenades!!!

the quickest way ive found of getting gold is either contasntly killing the block unit of Navy vetrans at kingshead with staff or grenade. Or as you come out of padres port swing a wide right and go behind the island stay near the edge of the big ships (just outside of compass), take 2 or 3 crew mebers with you and lightning all the high levels ships.

I took no damge and made 14,000 (full treasuresense) gold in one night and mastered sailing.

Moody Grimm 05-02-2008 12:01 PM

Go to kingshead and hang out by the fence. If someone is tossing grenades ask them if you can sweep their enemies with your sword for tons of very easy gold.
I make the most gold at KH with my staff because I'm a lazy sailor and even though I maxed out treasure sense, almost all my royals have emeralds in them..
