AS a marketing tool? Promoting POTCO like they did when it first started, with those commercials, wouldn't come up with a similar result. And they can't just hire more people. Like Davy and Del said, there are a hell of a lot of other factors that would eat up the constant income of money, slowing down updates. But when Disney does get another big update out, there may be enough money to hire more, therefore, creating a steady pace of updates, and getting right in that sweet spot. Basically, big update + more money = more workers and more updates bringing in even more updates, and continuing on etc. Catch my drift?

POTCO is much better than 2008 when the only updates were promises about more updates.

When Pirates 4 opens, I think Disney will start marketing POTCO again with TV ads like they did in the past.

Well all we can do is wait and see.

Where do people get that they are in the red and that they have to quit NOW? I have Panda3D on my computer. The cost? $0. All they have to pay for are employees, computers, and a building. Not that much in business terms, when you compare it to the amount of Unlimited Access members. So, you go ahead and be moody and gloomy and be cynical, I believe that the people that complain that it is going down the tubes secretly, maybe subconsciously, WANT it to fail so they can have more things to complain about. Think about it. One of the most expensive things for a game company is making an engine. They got theirs for free and didn't have to make it. The employees are the only constant cost here, the computers were bought from the beginning, and I'm sure they don't need a skyscraper or anything to develop a rather shoddy MMO in. Most likely, a small office in a small building. I DON'T think it will fail any time soon. This is not a high-budget game like you are used to playing, it's rather low-budget.

I certainly hope that it won't end soon, but usually when something is in the red. They try to jack up the prices and add additional services and whatnot. I'm not real educated in that department, but in my fair opinion I don't think POTCO will end as long as there's a strong fanbase.

Potco will end at only one point when it is no longer profitable and they feel that it has no potential to do so. I for one agree with davy and del (note not the spanish word meaning of the)

Not necessarily.

All memberships are paid through credit cards, with 3 subscription options: Once a Month, Once Ever 6 Months, and Once Every Year. For math's sake, we'll use your number of 700k, and the options are divided evenly amongst these subscribers. That means there is about 233,333 people per subscription option.

For all of those that have the monthly $10 subscription, that would mean $2,333,333.30 of income for POTCO. For the semi-annuals, that means $11,666,650.00, and for annuals, that would mean $18,666,640.00. Over the course of a year, the monthly's would amount to $27,999,999.60 a year, and for the semi's, that would mean $23,333,300.00. Adding up all net totals together would make a yearly net income for the game at $69,999,939.00.

Now, before you all scream "Money hoggers!," this is where other interests come in.

We need to factor in to that net pay all sorts of deductions: state taxes, federal taxes, taxes by the credit card companies, money for keeping the servers open, money for designating space for the site, taxes on both of those, collections by corporate Disney, and probably dozens of other things I can't name off the top of my head. Taxes are EVERYWHERE!

Taking all of that in to account, you would realize the budget for this game, when factoring in paying for the developers, is ALOT lower than most games. Also, I noticed a lot of you are screaming "Disney has a bazillion dollars!" Yes, Disney as an overall empire does, but you need to realize corporate Disney couldn't care less about funding this game, when they had television networks and theme parks to run.

In terms of staying with the game, even if I didn't have all my amazing guild members and friends (and fans ) I would probably still be here, just because 1. The imagination is a wonderful thing, and 2. With the amount of updates Disney has been pumping out in comparison to 2008, you can't say they're being slow.

That salary seems more accurate, plus when you think about it that is not a very big salary for a year. But everyone is different on their position.
