I agree, quality is always better than quantity.

I think the bigger ones would get kinda confusing and too clique-ish. But some people like the big huge guilds, while others like the smaller ones. I just personally don't see the advantage of the big guilds. I'm in a small/med size guild, and there's more than enough people around to play pirates with :)

I Disagree

Burning Legion is a large guild. We do have alot of active members and so far we have had no major problems with anyone. That whole quality over quantity thing doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me being that it is VERY to get rid of members who make things unpleasent for the rest of the guild. It is so nice to have a full ship of just guildmates everytime i log in. It is a huge advantage to all of us in Burning Legion as there is ALWAYS someone on to help out. Never any searching for help in Tortuga for us!! You can have your small guilds ... BURNING LEGION sails DEEP!!

Haha, it may be fine now, but when your guild gets bigger, and no room is left on the Friends List, it's gonna be crazy. It's also pretty silly to just recruit anyone, you'll find a lot of noobs nagging.

I think it's better to have not very many members, so everybody in the guild can be friended, so you can teleport to instead of having to sail to them. It's also a WHOLE lot easier to go around with 3-5 experienced players then 30 newbies.

So you'll soon find that quality over quanity makes sence.

( Everybody in the guild is done with the BP quest except for a couple, so we can go around and conquer anything... )

Selfish

Sounds a little selfish to me. We don't mind "noobs". We were all once noobs and needed help.

~Jade Heartbreaker~ 12-06-2007 05:39 AM

I agree with Dread!!

Our noobs don't stay noobs very long. They ask questions, we answer, they learn...after awhile they know as much as we do and can help others also.

You were new to Pirates once, did you learn EVERYTHING on your own. Probably not. Someone probably helped you out along the way. That is what a guild is about. We talk to everyone. Sure some of us do more things together than others...but the opportunity is there for ALL. Whats so hard about saying "go to Port royal or Tortuga on the Anibassa ocean and meet at the shiprught"? Someone will be able to get to the person and friend or crew them and off a plundering or questin we will go. If they don't know how to switch oceans then we walk them through it. It takes what maybe 2 minutes to do that and we have made some great friends that way.

BURNING LEGION all the way baby!!

Actually, I did everything on my own. Nobody helped except for a couple on the Grenade Quest and Bowdash's last chest on Isla Tormenta.

Everybody always say's that... " you were once new to Pirate's/Toontown/VMK " but people need to learn stuff to do on their own... I get tired of people who always ask for something. The first few times, it's fine. But then constantly they ask more and more. And a couple of people always teleport to me when I'm on my ship, and they don't even ask. Maybe I like the crew size right now, and I don't want too many.

Then some noob's in a few recent guilds have ALWAYS taken helm, which gets REALLY annoying. I tell them not too, and they go ahead and do it.

So I'm tired of large guilds. Just too many noobs who can't listen when you tell them the first, second, or third time.

~Jade Heartbreaker~ 12-07-2007 04:17 AM

Guess what, its not just noobs that do that. I have had high levels take the helm and try to sail away or start to shoot down other ships while we were waiting for the Cuda to respawn. If they do it once we tell them not to and if they keep going on and doing it we dock, kick them off the guild/crew/friends lists and go back out.

I myself have things I have to ask more than once because my brain does not always register every thing the first time. I have a very analytical mind and need things in black and white. I can replace a video card/ram/dvd burrner/whatever with out thinking twice about it but try to explain a new concept in the game to me and forget it (just ask Bella or~figment~ as she is known here on POF about me and the take aim skill) it doesn't sink in right away. I am an adult and a Lvl 23 in the game and feel that I am a VERY good player but some things just throw a person off.

You can not judge a player by there actions a time or two. Over and over...yes. Once or twice may be all it takes for a good player to become a great player.

But taking over the helm and the constant teleporting..no that is not cool.

OMG isn't that the truth!! I hate knocking heads with you!! As for quality/quanity....Hmm that is hard. I just added 3 new members to BL today. They are not exceptionally high in lvl's but I added them anyway. I made friends with all three of them and I will keep my fingers crossed that they will work out. I found them in a quite district/sea/server (whatever you want to call it) lvling up their weapons together, I decided if they were "smart enought" to know about the bugged grunt well then why not add them. I think both quality and quanity are important, you want quality players to help out with quests or just keeping the grunts/skeles/navy busy while you look for stuff. But quantity is also important cause you may need some help and no one is around....well that just stinks..... I like being able to send out an Ahoy in guild chat and getting a response from someone. I like logging on and seeing Ahoys on my screen from guild members. Each guild has their own requirements, and in BL we tend to be friendly, helpfull, and very chatty! We know that some of the members are kids, teens, adults, and even Senior citizens.... Who really cares, we will help out all new members find their way. With every new member added I use guildchat to introduce the newest members, send an Ahoy to them, tell them about POF and let them know if they ever need help just ask (I also add in use the guild chat not local) and most important I tell them about Dreadbeard our guild master.

To each their own, as a BL officer I'm out to build a large, helpful guild... When asked for help, I drop what I am doing and help out, I've had help along the way and will gladly share a hint or my cutlass when the need arises.

Now that you have joined BL what do you think?

HaveAMagicalDay 12-13-2007 05:25 PM

Our guild has about 9 to 10 members. We do not invite anyone we see, if they have nice skill, and help us out, we might invite them. But at the moment, we do not make them officers, because we want to make sure they would be a good addition to the team. We only have i think 6 officers, which we've had since the bigining of POTCO, and most of them were from beta!

It's awesome and amazing! I love it and I'm staying - I'm yours forever now XD

Ive was in a few guilds and kept on having problems with either nobody being on or just getting ignored when I asked for help but have now joined ' the brotherhood ' which is easily getting on for about 100 players now and it is a great guild to be in, the only problem I now have is trying to add all the guild members to my friends list :D as I hate it when somebody wants help and you have to find where they are and change worlds etc just to go help them.

IThe dev's really need to look at the guild options and I think they should be the same a friends list so that you can use TP or whisper to people if u need to.

Silver Beard 12-17-2007 05:25 PM

I am "Downsizing" my guild now. I have too many non playing members that just are in the guild but I never see them.:xsad: I will only have about 10- 20 members. And I agree with "quality instead of quanity" very much now.

Dreadbeard 12-17-2007 07:09 PM

Huh?

Im starting to get a little confused with this thread. The topic is BIGGEST GUILD. Alot of these posts should go under smallest guilds.
