I dont use ATI because I prefer nvidia but even if gateway provides drivers it would be unlikely that you could not just install the latest ATI drivers.

your graphics card is not too bad and should be able to support potc but there is a good chance that the memory in the laptop may struggle.

also try installing the latest version of DIRECTX 9.0c which is obtained direct from microsoft.

Hanging on the High Seas (not the good kind)

I've been playing pirates for a few weeks now. On Saturday I started having problems with sailing. the problems are. I'm on a G5 iMac.

1. I hang up on the loading page. I hear the ships sounds load, but the screen stays on the loading page.

2. If sailing does load, navy and EITC ships don't take damage

3. I get to an island and try to drop anchor. but nothing happens and I sail directly threw the island.

4. Or I hang on the loading screen when I drop anchor.

5. Leave the helm to go to a cannon and when I press shift to mount the cannon, I never get the the cannon view. I can still rotate the camera, but can walk, shoot or esc.

Any ideas?

skulkandle,

some of this could be caused by lag, I occasionally have the issue where steering or cannon doesn't load and only way to clear it is to draw a weapon.

with the circle just going round and round I usually have to close the program and reload but this only happens very occasionally for me.
