It gives players plenty of time to finish what they're doing, in my opinion. Although it would be better for Disney to give a day or so's warning, maintenance only happens for a short time when it does happen. Though compared to all the time we get without maintenance, it's only a tiny amount of game time we lose.

Aye, but if you've been planning a big party bash, or whatever, and after 4 or 5 months of planning or so, a one hour warning will not help very much.
They should have at least a 3 days ahead worth notice. That way, you can just say "Move it to the next day" or say "It's going to be a day early!".

Yes, they would post it days ahead or a day before the update day, this way people know when to expect the downtime and/or if it gets delayed into the next day, etc.

The in-game message is not visible for everyone to see, as it only pops up for the people who are online. They block access to log in to the game after they announcement such message. So, people could check the website to see a notice on the home page explaining the reason why players may/may not be able to login for whatever time period.

As I've said in my other posts, it's a very basic message they could type up, should not take longer than 2 minutes, and anyone can do it. The only other part disney would have to worry about is that someone has to include the release notes if there is a Game Content Update after the patch has completed.

I liked the way they used to do it. Put up what they fix and/or crashes and/or updates.

When i used to play in the morning, i opened this window to see about maintance.

What happen? did disney wanted to make it hard on us?

This is what I think disney thought of not putting what they fixed or what revisions were made to the application (This story is completely made up by me. I didn't use a developer name, so I used the letter "A"):

Quote:

Web Designer: Hmm, it looks like not many users cared to view our release notes page on both the website and launcher in the past 2 weeks. I have to bring this up to the developers.

(Web Designer takes a trip to The Crew's office)

Web Designer: Hey, could I speak with you for a minute?

(Developer A replied "Sure", and Web Designer places a graph and fact sheet of the traffic for the Pirates Online Official website)

Web Designer: Well Developer A, it seems like our traffic has always been low for users being interested in our "Release Notes" section after we posted somewhat confusing terms that the kids might not understand.

Just look at this chart.

(Web Designer shows "traffic" chart)

Developer A: Wow. Almost no one visited the Release Notes page for those 2 weeks. What did you want to ask me?

(Web Designer puts the data back in the folder)

Web Designer: Well...... I think we need to replace the Release Notes launcher window with actual News summaries from the official website, because this game is targeted mainly for kids and they probably don't want to read all those somewhat technical terms we've been putting since our game launched 2 months ago.

I would like to take charge with the News summaries, I don't think we need to do the release notes as often. It would probably attract players to click on the links in the launcher and make them visit the official page.

Developer A: I understand what you're saying, but I am not the one that can make any immediate changes. However, I will bring this up during one of our meetings with the Team and the Supervisor. Thanks for bringing this up to me.

Web Designer: No problem and thank you.

(Web Designer exits the office and goes back to his desk and continues working)
