Tacking doesn't do anything either at the moment. Again I tested with a friend, and we turned at the exact same speed, from both with open sails and stitting still.

I like full sail and come about, as well as ramming speed. I wouldn't load those with points though. Maybe 2 in full sail, and one in come about and ramming.

Actually, it's Straight Sailing vs. Zig-zag Sailing. If you travel in a straight line and continue to use Full Sail, you'll go faster than moving around and using Full Sail. Tacking is quite useful; Say you're parallel and a little ahead to a ship, you can cut them in front and fire at will.
