I would be curious if there is any particular move that an enemy is more likely to countermove (ie parry etc). This may also change the effectiveness of a particular move. It may do 3x more damage than another, but if an enemy is more likely to dodge it then it may not actually be that effective.

Hmm... I have new ideas of a best build. Granted, the points may not be best where you think. It all depends on the effectiveness of slowing your enemy down. That would make a fast slowdown ideal. Another ideal ideal is to do as much damage as possible. The first though is the only unknown corrolory: the second is easy to accomplish with the sword.

PUHLEASE!!!!!

A real fight is usually 1/2 parry as every attack has a counter attack that you are then open to. But this is POTCO and reality doesn't enter too much into the equation.

Standing there and taking every hit might be appealing to you but I for one like the ability to block the occasional incoming strike. Especially since it works when holding other weapons (or no weapon at all). You never know when it's the difference between winning the fight and waking up in jail.

To take it even further, I would love an option to switch to pure parry if you find you are outmatched in a fight to hold off while you gather help. But until that happens, I'll settle for the random "Parry" flashing on the screen. (So if you have it unlocked, you use it, you're either not paying attention or trying to be macho)

I'm not saying max it but 2 or 3 points aren't the waste everyone seems to think it is.

First rule of sword fighting... never parry with your head.

That may be part of your damage formula that you are missing. Or it may not be.

I thought it said 2.5%

So you would just hack slash flourish, hack, slash flourish over and over until a combat attack recharges? I like the cleave and thrust way too much for that but I m a combo guy. I have almost mastered the cutlass as my first weapon to master and Im level 36. I have mastered sailing as well. I didn't even earn the level four cutlass but this is how I remember my points as they are attributed.

2 points for hack

3 for slash

2 for cleave,

3 for flourish

2 for thrust

For my combat skills I have:

3 in sweep

1 in brawl

1 in taunt

4 in blade storm.

For the passives I have

0 in parry (a mistake I admit)

5 in endurance.

I am at work and that is how I recall the breakdown however it might not be completely correct but it is pretty close.
