I had the same problem with my computer. And I've fixed it in a way no one's ever suggested.

For me, the problem was my internet. For some reason it just didn't like that transition to/from the high seas. When I connect directly to the modem instead of the router, I have no problems. So maybe you want to try that?

Eustace The Monk,

I already try like this, but when I launch the game, I heard the music from the main menu, and the screen of the main menu is black!

The issue you reported may be due to an incompatibility with OpenGL and your video card driver. Enabling POTCO to use DirectX 9 may resolve the problem.

To specify POTCO to use DirectX9 you will need to edit the "game_options.txt" file located in the POTCO root directory.

1)Navigate to C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\PiratesOnline
3) Double click on game_option.txt
4) Make sure state has working on the line directly below it. If you see attempted_working change it to working
5) Under api, change the text from default to pandadx9
6) Save the file then launch the game

Good luck!

After 5 months of having an ATI 2600 HD 512 MB card that I couldn't use - these steps actually worked!!!

I didnt need the working bit (but I didn't look either) - I just changed what was under API from DEFAULT to PANDADX9 - bam! I can sail the seas!

It looks so AWESOME... all that 512MB just soaking it up... amazing...

I know several here with ATI cards should try this option - what Disney could not provide - POF forums did :)
