Thats what we call "Stocking the server".
Is that like stocking salmon in a pond? LOL :) Someone call me when they see the 'hand of POTCO God' reach down and start dropping little Golden Chests into the water :D

Snorri 05-22-2008 03:11 AM

Darnit, looks like I've been doing it the hard way for so long. I just did about 8 runs off kingshead getting the flag manowar and my War sloop brought in a whole lot more than my Galleon just like angel's results.

Arg :P!

Yes, I have had "shadowers" too, that is annoying, so I definitely don't do that, But I have taken shots at a ship being engaged by someone else, whether it be to defend my own ship or to try to help, I have done it when a low level ship is taking on a Phantom or a really BIG ship, I know I appreciate a little help when I am up against those big guys as I usually am sailing alone. . and only taking them on for a quest of some sort. . . . ;) If it looks like they are doing fine on their own, after I see where the big ship's HP is at I will back off and move on.

im not one to complain....but these guys shootin me when i get a ship before them is starting to get on my last nerve

what sever were u on i want to make some crazy money like that or maybe it is ur treasure sense

Gee, I always think of it as me helping out. I usually only get crates but I have a low level ship. I like it when other ships come along and help me sink something be it high or low level. I just hate it when a stronger ship sees me heading for a target, then just has to beat me there so they can sink it first, and on top of that think it's funny to fire upon me as well. I've actually had high level player ships chase me all over for no good reason firing on me. They think it's funny to pick on me.

But as far as me firing on other ships that players are targeting, like I said, I view it as helping them. Just like when someone's attacking someone on land I'll run up with my voodoo doll and do what I can to help them. Cause I like it when people do that for me, so why shouldn't I do it for others?

I agree somewhat.

However if I see ships obviously leveling cannons, or something where it appears like they are after reps... I try to leave them be.
(sorry if your shooting one of my quest items!!! I'm gonna take a shot at it.. I "NEED" it and some ships are just hard to find...)

If the rewarding of treasure from a ship is related in any way, it's likely similar to how reps are divided. But I think its still based on how hard it was for you to take down the target (regardless of help), with some random processes joining in.

See, I think the treasure has to do with the level of the player's ship. I've crewed a few higher level ships of people in my guild and even when one to three other ships fire on our target, we still get a large haul. Where on low level ships I've been on who take out the ship all by themselves get a small haul, usually crates. So I don't think the number of players firing on a target have any effect.

I mean, I appreciate it when someone comes along and even just fires once or twice. Now I agree when they shove inbetween me and the target it's rude. But I've done that many times by accident. The server lag, even on quiet ones, is really rotten and makes sailing extremely difficult. I often can't respond in time and find myself shoved between ships. I try my best to get out, but sometimes I just can't.

I agree Jami that sometimes it is someone trying to help out and I don't mind that, but when they are shadowing you, in their light sloop to get a shot at the big ship you can bring down and they can't ( I sail a War Galleon) and getting between you and your target making it hard for you to get a shot in is just rude :sadmh9: I usually change servers when there are shadowers following me around.

I too try to help a low level on land, and sometimes at sea, I like healing them and allowing them to defeat the higher targets to level up, but not all appreciate it :0, so if they fire on me or swing a sword at me I back off and let them fend for themselves. :degen:

I try to help out the smaller ships without sinking their prey. It's hard to tell who need help at sea though. If we could see their ship hull's status maybe we could know when to rescue and went to sail on.

JamiSings 06-13-2008 01:44 AM

See, high or low level I do my best to help my fellow pirates. Cause I've had random people who'll come up and heal/guard me when I'm searching a crate or digging I feel it's only right I do the same for others. Sort of a "pay it forward." And I do the same for ships.

Now granted, right now I have a whole slew of sea-related quests - I need, in total between two quests 16 bottles of battle-touched salt water. I also need barnacles, cursed wood, ect. Almost all my quests between Tia Dalma and the tattoo lady on Padres are sailing related. So there is some benefit for me to do it right now, but I do it even when there's no benefit to me.

nat sharkskull 06-13-2008 02:25 AM

How do you do that??? I sink most of the time because there is about four baddies hitting me at the same time. I have a war sloop but it getting pretty water logged these days. lol

Wheelsim 06-13-2008 02:44 AM

I definatly agree with this. But really what can we do about it anyway?
