LOL :D Well that why I noted that in your case - it probably was for fun.... ;)

But I can find lots to do in game without having to get married me thinks :D

Nelly Darkpaine 08-29-2008 01:53 PM

Actually.. no... we hit 40 and have moved over to WoW. ****

While I love the game, I will say that I think people sometimes are forced to come up with things of their own invention to keep playing...

Like tag, hide and seek, Tormenta Tag (LOL A fun game.. feel free to ask)

But.. the lack of places to explore, and involved new content does leave many players with nothing left but the social aspect of the game.

Agreed - many do make up other activities... and I too wish or new content every day...

I guess 'Weddings' though is more than an activity... espcially since the OP and many others I know have been 'rudely' asked to leave or other things.

If this was a thread of "Have U seen Wierd Things? How about 'Hide and Seek'" I probably would of just posted "yep - game every Thursday" LOL I'm even cool with the 'social aspects' to a degree - but its still a game. :) Weddings / Commitment just kinda goes 'over the line' for me I guess... its a very real life thing in a very non-real life world :D

i like having my playing partners. That's what they are playing partners. We get online at the same time, we do quest together, we sink ships together. Explain why i would need to be married to that person.

I know sometimes you might already feel like your married to them, because you spend so much time with them, but come on this is just silly.

No offence Nelly, I'm sure your wedding was beautiful and i mean no disrespect towards you. It's the constant barrage of teenies that give other players **** that are just trying to play a game for enjoyment or like me a STRESS REDUCER.

This is just my opinion, please don't take anything I've said personal.

Pirates and marriage don't mix IMHO. And Maximus is correct...POTCO is not a dating site...it's for swashbuckling and sinking ships. Enuff drama in real life without bringing it to POC...But I do have a question bout these marriages...can you also get divorced? lol

Was a BLAST - had Bridesmaids, groomsmen, a reverend. (A real one at that!)
I have pics up if anyone would like to see! I can link em!

I married the person Ive played with since I was a wee level 17 or so... LOL We leveled to 40 together on the SAME stump. Huzzah! LOL

Stuff like this is fun, and makes the small in game friends and groups come together. I say, why not!?

If the person marrying you was a REAL Reverend (in REAL LIFE), then you may actually BE really married in real life. Better check the local laws.

Davil 08-29-2008 04:51 PM

Besides, you only see their avatar.Second the person might be lying about, well alot of things. I don't mind people "getting married" but i think dating on Pirates isn't really the purpose on the game. No offense to anyone who is dating on the game and/or dating.

"Reverend" is an adjective like "calm" or "relaxed", not a real liturgical title. Someone with that as their title is a fraud to begin with and does not deserve your (nor anyone's) respect.

Ok - I admit it, I have been to a POTCO wedding. I thought it was a gag. Had fun, made a half-hearted attempt at jokes and humor.

But - a very real part of "play" for some (and remember - this is an all ages game) is getting married.

I remember being invited the day my daughter (who was 5 or 6 at the time) decided that our boy dog and girl dog need to be married if they were going to live in the backyard together. Handmade invitation, a veil for the she-dog, cake, a reception (fortunately, they were registered at Wal-Mart and were out of dog food at the time).

Her Barbie dolls have been married so many times to so many different dolls / stuffed animals / items it makes a soap opera look tame.

So, let them play. As for being told to leave, you have to judge the situation for the expected level of maturity of those involved.

Nelly Darkpaine 08-29-2008 07:59 PM

I guess my take is... its a game. We are all playing... its as much 'role playing' as the people who walk around speaking pirate lingo... to each his own, and have fun how you want as long as you treat others with respect.

But.. thats just how I see things. :)

Nautical Nattie 08-29-2008 10:42 PM

I think it's adorable lol. I've been to a pirate wedding but the two people getting 'married' were actually dating in real life and had been in a relationship for a year or so, and they were in their late teens i think. But when it's little kids it's very strange, but very cute :) just let them have their fun i say. In another online game i play there is an option you can click to 'roleplay' in which you create a background for your character, a personality etc and act according to it, so some people just prefer playing along. The younger kids might take it seriously, i get a lot of requests to be wedded and be their gf when i've said about two words to them, but hey that's just kids it's what they are like at that age i guess lol.

P.S. Tormenta Tag? Just hearing the title makes it seem so much fun!

Half the game is hiding... the other half is surviving! LOL :D

Nautical Nattie 08-29-2008 11:27 PM

I want the rules to that game, it sounds fun :) Good thing i'm a good enough level to survive at Tormenta ay lol.

Charlotte Grey 08-30-2008 12:02 AM

BHAHAHAHA a marriage online? WOW. okay.
I've had situations where random guys have asked me out or asked me to be his girlfriend....and my guy friends would go out and pretend to shoot them because they were so annoyed with them haha lol ;)

Nelly Darkpaine 08-30-2008 12:25 AM

Tormenta Tag!

LOL Its actually VERY fun.

You start at the 'wet' entrance of Tormenta... (With the pond thing when you go in) go with a crew of friends, one or two at a time is best. Run in, cutlass, or dagger blazing, hit EVERYTHING you encounter along the way and try to make it OUT the OTHER entrance ALIVE! ****

NO HEALING NO TONICS!

Its a BLAST to follow the two who are 'hitting' as crewmates and watch health meters.

Sounds like a pointless game, but once you try it with a few friends, you will find yourselves cracking up and wanting to go again. Jail is inevitable, but SO fun to watch your friends wail on passing Seabeards then RUN AWAY!

**** Try it, I PROMISE you will have fun!
