Stumbled across this today: http://www.freewebs.com/longshotxx/p...rintables2.htm

Pretty funny to see the old "recommendations" elsewhere, there. You don't notice the minor changes much, but over time they really sway the game. A pirate with those skill point allocations today, would be...let's see...

deleted and started over. :-)

Edward, those are just information/tiers per levels which I believe are accurate.

There was no proposed skill point allocations on the referenced page.

Nifty reference though. :)

Will try to get the skill/weapon points tiers into the wiki soon, but have several projects there, and not that much time lately.

You could cheat, ya know. Just start a privateering quest, get the first 100 notoriety points, then drop the quest. Then start the quest again...

Ouch. Printables 2 used to be different from Printables 1. I guess my critique was too harsh, or taken too harshly. I was just trying to point out how things change over time, especially when the underlying game itself (especially sailing) changes.

Looks like there are a few more new pages there. I'll have to peruse it a bit more. Handy reference indeed!

Whoah! Never realized it was 56,000 wow im shocked!

TDSChristy 09-26-2008 09:15 PM

Very interesting. Thanks for doing all that math Basil. :psmiley35: I was wondering if it was mathematically possible to master all the weapons but not reach pirate master. Evidently it is. LOL

davy redflint 09-27-2008 04:48 AM

ok basil, my first pirate davy II to reach lvl 40 w/ this: story quest 99% comp. since the bb was out of commission at that time. all weapons lvl 25 except gnades they were 18 plus. at that time there were no weapons, clothing or infestation or svs quest. w/o the story quest u would not have reach lvl40 i believe back then. now it a lot easier to hit 40 and earn those 0 reps lol.

Update to levelling without doing Pearl quest

Notoriety 27, Cannon 12, Sailing 17, Cutlass 13, Pistol 13, Doll 14, Dagger 13, Nades 24.
Quests:
Tattoo and Jewelry done on Tortuga and PR. Skeleton Infestation 43%. No other quests in progress yet.

Pearl Quest at 1%, The list is 3%, and Pidgeley is at 40%, the step for stealing the list of ships. It was a convienent place to hold the Pearl quest. I never have to go get the list because of other quest objectives.

Will keep udating to let everyone know if Level 40 can be achieved without doing Pearl quest.

Another update to leveling without doing Pearl quest

Haven't been as active as I would like, so it has been slow going, but still at it!

Notoriety 34, Cannon 17, Sailing 21, Cutlass 18, Pistol 18, Doll 18, Dagger 18, Staff 23, Nades 24.
Quests:
Tattoo and Jewelry done on Tortuga, PR and PDF. Teleportation quests done. Skeleton Infestation done. All level 4 weapons quests done. No level 5 weapons quests started. No clothing quests started.

Pearl Quest at 1%, The list is 3%, and Pidgeley is at 40%, the step for stealing the list of ships. It was a convienent place to hold the Pearl quest. I never have to go get the list because of other quest objectives.

Now for some math:
Adding up all the points needed to get to Notoriety level 40, I still need 211,100.
Adding up all the points that can be earned by doing nothing but weapons leveling, I can get 192,200.
I think it is going to be awful close. Does anyone know how much gratis rep is given during the clothing and level 5 weapons quests?

Will keep udating to let everyone know if Level 40 can be achieved without doing Pearl quest.

Sarah 11-22-2008 05:53 AM

Here's a link to what Anne got on clothing quest, even with the fuzzy math, it's a ton of rep ;)

It can be done!!!

Ok, I haven't done it yet, but it CAN be done.

Right now:

Purvis is at level 39, and needs 33,500 rep to hit level 40.
He is Mastered in Sailing, Nades and Staff, so no rep left there.
Cutlass, Pistol, Doll and Dagger are all level 24, and each has about 4,500 rep left, and Cannon is at level 21. This leaves about 35,400 rep to be earned finishing his weapon skills.
ALL rep earning quests are done, except SvS quests, which aren't started.
SvS quests won't be needed.

Pearl Quest at 1%, The "list" is 3%, and Pidgeley is at 40%, (the step for stealing the list of ships.) It was a convienent place to hold the Pearl quest. I never have to go get the list because of other quest objectives.

Based on the above info, it is possible to Master your pirate to level 40, Master all weapons, and never do any of the Pearl quest!

I should be able to accomplish this within the next few weeks, depending on how much time I have to be ingame. When it is done, I will post screenies to show the results.

Edward Edgemenace 01-05-2009 08:20 PM

Wow, you can't master all weapons without hitting 40 on notoriety? Dang. Well, great work Basil! Can't wait for the 40 party!

Basil Dreadflint 01-05-2009 08:37 PM

Edward,
If all you do is weapons, then NO, you can't hit level 40. The point I am trying to make is that you CAN get your pirate to level 40 WITHOUT doing any of the Pearl quest! That is the goal that I set out to accomplish.
But, you can't do it with weapons and skills alone, You must do the side quests.

Aliese 01-05-2009 08:41 PM

Unless you get a lot of treasure drops on the way, I don't think you can get to 40 even with the side quests. Piper has only the SvS quests left (and is on the final part of one), and still needs about 5k rep to reach 40.

ETA: So...yeah. D needs to release some more stuff. I refuse to do the Pearl, but I want her to hit 40... LoL

Interesting. When I tried to measure it, I saw 10% of enemies defeated gave a treasure; 5% gave a cheat card. So if you attack the lowest possible level enemy at all times, you'd then have a greater chance of getting the 25 extra notoriety points 10% of the time, bringing you much closer, indeed.

Aliese 01-11-2009 10:27 PM

Okies, Piper's done.

Where are you at now, Basil?
