So true so true

The first that I'm taking off is Soul Flay, then I'm taking back the wasted skill points that I used on Banish and Desolation. I thought that they would be good for leveling at first but now they're only good for show and tell. ;)

Doing that kills you. Pressing "3" within 1 second is too early and is ignored. (Go ahead, ask me how many @#$%@# times I died because of this. Go ahead. I dare ya.) :)

Wow, I hope you are wrong. I can't think of any reason you would be wrong, but MAN I do hope you are, this time!

It says spent skill points in the news. I hope and expect starting skill points to be unretainable. Thrust. Thrust. Thrust. That'd be a ridiculously stupid way for combat to be done in the game.

As for the question asked about Blast: all you do is press control. It makes for good leveling, and is costless. You can use it while voodoo recharges without impending it. I rather like it, even though it does very little damage. It doesn't charge either, so you can run as you use it, or take steps backward.

ok desolation does kinda stink but it is a good training move for the 3 dots to lv 22 to 25 in kingshead but with rellocation i am gonna smack them all down to 0 i will also take off pestilence(takes too long to charge for little damage) and banish(too much voodoo and really too long to charge and the undead thing)and i am gonna take off soul flay and i might leve 1 point in desolation (for people who heal me during flags) and then max out them passives yay!

Just FYI guys, you visit an NPC at a blacksmith who will reset all of your skill points for that weapon for 250 gold the first time and 2500 each time after that. So, not very practical to change them around a lot, and you can't move just one or two around.

Edward Edgemenace 10-06-2008 08:41 AM

2500gp in-game is astonishingly little. It means you could individually max out ten of the eleven items for any weapon, on the first two passes then put together a real build on the third try. Spread across four pirates, you won't be expending much in-game gold at all.

League 10-07-2008 02:27 AM

Actually, that's beside the point. You can simply redo your sails, and get Treasure Sense maxed alongside maneuverability-increasing moves and Open Fire for quick, easy moola.

Once again, I must warn everyone that the current prices for reassignment might be easy to allow for testers to try the options - as many of us just don't have the cash like we do with our Live 40 pirates... thesee prices may change as it gets closer to live - and I'd hate to see anyone get 'shocked' when they do finally come out :D

I think the first skill point i will remove on staff is from pestilence. I mean who uses pestilence? At least I don't. I want to max flame since it is pretty powerful. Oh and I want to max Desolation. Desolation is not useless like everyone says it is. You can kill several lvl 25s in one hit of desolation. I know, it takes down your health. Then just take a tonic after you use it. Desoltaion is useful as a life saver because it can never kill you.:)

...Can never kill you on its own. But the fatally long charge time (compared to wither) can kill you. I seriously doubt it does more damage per second. But if you have to take a bathroom break, it is good to let desolation charge up...or go out for pizza...or catch a movie...

Another problem with desolation skill, is that one hit puts your max voodoo below 50%...casting again immediately is not possible without tonic. But even then, you can't manage to do three strikes in one minute. The second strike (with tonic) will happen within 20 seconds, but the third strike will be a while. With wither, I can fire 18 rank 5 shots in a minute, without resorting to tonic. The officers on the Black Pearl only rarely, will last for 7 blasts.

The only situation I might think that desolation might be needed, is when you are alone on the colossus, with level 37 officers and all 6 charge you. But desolation won't kill any of them on that first shot. Therefore, you are dead anyhow. But you'd be dead long before desolation finished its charge-up.

Desolation is only good for astronomically stupid stunts. Like trying to foil a rep-stealer on Kingshead. Or showing off on a busy server.

I hope they are at least ten times more expensive on open! Playing around with builds on test is fine - maybe they can keep low prices there?
