I saw a War Gallion off Kingshead on Galaacare or Galaana server all day yesterday. I hope they finally got their ship ported. That would irk me to no end.

Yeah someone i know has the same problem, i haven't asked too many questions about it but apparently according to his friends he's always at sea (the ship icon on friends list), so can't launch as it says he's already on his ship (when he's clearly not when i saw him). He's spoken to support everyday for about three hours in the past week or so and nothing is being done.

Things like this is the main reaon why they made Live chat, heres what you might get from live chat if you talk to them:
"Can we login on your account to see what the problem is?"
Say yes!, they dont need your ID and password, and this works better if you are online so they can see it. If you are offline, then you just tell them to launch a ship and nothing happens, and they will do their best to fix it up :)

This has put a serious halt on my questing for 2 of my characters. They both have ships locked at sea. Very frustrating and hope for a quick resolution.

I am currently having the same problem. I also went to live chat today and the person I talked with initially said that this was not a known problem. I basically told him that he was lying, because I had read about it on here. He quickly changed his tune and said it was a known problem and they were "diligently working on it". If they have been doing that it has been at least 2 months they have been doing that! I had a friend push me from shore and was able to get within firing range of some ships, but they didn't seem to "see" me and would not attack my ship. With the help of a friend I was able to get a flagship over to me, but I was too far away to get a hook into it until it was too late and never did get to board. I will probably try again, because although I can use other pirates, this is the most developed one that I have and don't want to lose all my progress. I appreciate this forum, I probably would have given up and not tired these other things without this information provided here!

Something similar happened to me several days ago. In my case, I landed my ship just fine, with only minimal damage. I wasn't able to repair it. It is now showing my ship at sea, just off port. Can't sail it, can't repair it. And since it's "at sea", I can't launch my other ships.

Live Chat told me it's a known issue, other pirates are experiencing it, too. They said this problem has no current solution or work-around...... when there is, they'll download a patch in the updates.

In the meantime, he said when the server re-sets the ships should reset. Servers do this at 12 midnight Pacific time. But there is no set day/rotation that this happens. So it's a matter of playing the waiting game. ** sigh **

Very good solution to the problem

But when i woke up from jail ship was full green health bar and no yellow bar. Could repair and everything was unlocked.

I did something similar and it worked like a dream. You would think that the technicians would be able to tell you how to accomplish this by now. It would seem like they would monitor this site as well and be able to advise people who ask. I had a friend attract (but not damage as it is important that I be able to grapple) a skeleton flagship. Once I was able to board the ship, I just stood and waited and in no time they sent me to jail. Once out, I went and repaired and boarded the ship and it worked just fine!

I'm guessing that you're paying members. Have any of you asked to be compensated for this? Sailing is a major part of the game and required to finish many of the quests. To be asked to wait 2-3 weeks (the majority of a month) for a fix :piratear: - IOW, to get your ships back - is ridiculous.

I'm not even going to address the issue that live chat is now blowing people off ("diligently working on it") or not even checking to see if it's a known problem. :psmiley35:

If they actually are working on it, is there really anything else they can do? Front-line tech support people in any organization are usually about the farthest you can get from actual software devs.

Since these are two separate issues,

Yes. They can offer to compensate you for the time that your game was not playable as normal which has undoubtedly decreased enjoyment; which is what keeps people paying month after month. It's a small thing to offer (since not everyone is experiencing this) and goes a long way to good will.

My assertion that the 'diligently working on it' was a placating nod to the problem was that prior to Captain Dobie telling them that he already knew that it was an ongoing problem from these forums, he was lied to and told basically that this was the first they'd heard of it. It would appear that whoever he was talking to (1) couldn't bother to read down the list of known problems to find that one; (2) when caught in the lie, uttered forth the known customer service phrase that causes people to say 'ok, well then, thanks. I'll go away now;' and (3) if instance one and two have happened, I seriously doubt that the customer service agent put in the trouble ticket.

In my experience, the more instances of a problem that you can get in and look at, the more likely you are to figure out why it's happening. But if they're not being reported, the developers can't possibly begin to see what is causing this problem which means that it will take longer for it be found and eradicated.

Yes. This is true. However, they are the first in line to deal with the customers and hear about the problems. They are the ones responsible for reporting problems to the organization, not dismissing people with platitudes because they don't want to do work.

People are leaving the game in droves. (I know this because I haven't seen many of my good friends in months. The game is also much quieter than ever before.) Let's wait to see what happens once everyone has a pirate that has a ship stuck at sea.

There is a reason why Developers do not take direct contact from people in games, they wouldn't get work done. This is done in all games that you play. There is nothing more a technical support person can do for you. It's not as simple as you all think it is to fix an issue in a game. First a code has to be tracked down that may be causing the glitch or bug. To track that down you first have to figure out what is causing the bug to happen. Than you have to change that code and make sure it does not conflict with other code. Then you have to test and fix till it is good to go to a live server as a patch.

The game is still playable and for people to ask for free time makes no since. I would start to ask for free time if I were not able to play at all because of a bug. Not because a feature in game that has some temporary faults.

opening the ship to public has no good results.

You do not get crew bonus

You do not get loot bonus

all you get is gaming issues... so why do it? if someone uses public to get on your ship and has a 10 year old lap top then quite frankly you are all gonna sink as the ship will lag to a standstill and most likely if you are lucky you will get booted.

Will Badbreaker 12-09-2008 02:17 AM

I had my ship get stuck when I ported and I fixed it. I was unable to repair it or use another ship when porting, so I went back to it, made sure it was not set to public, etc then asked anyone left on it to leave. (I don't know if that matters or not but I asked them to leave)
Then I switched to a quiet server and bingo my ship was released.
It is definitely a bug, I heard it can be caused by someone joining your ship just as you are porting. So a fix might be to make sure you uncheck the boxes for public at least when porting.

You should get crew bonus, if you crew those on your ship, it does require a few extra steps, but crew bonus is always helpful.
You should get the captains bonus if its your ship, are you sure that they dont?

It is definately a random way of getting a crew, but sometimes can make for quite an interesting and fun experience as long as you accept the possible downsides.

Today on test in all the release notes there is alot on the issues with ships stuck, taking wheel etc. Soon as this gets out hopefully this will all be fixed.
