haha, the rumour continues, I was on last night on the abassa server and few pirates were asking about the Kraken. I guess this may be an attempt by some to get Disney listening and get their finger out!

hey swash if you have an inside source please tell us what they're working on and where they are in the kraken please so many people are waiting think of the children lol but please tell us where they are on the kraken and what they're working on

I don't think Swash has an inside source, he simply said that the pirate in the pictures had 55HP.

I don't think pirates that can only play on the open server are getting it. If the Kraken was out, he would be on the test server first and there would be release notes for it. Within days there would be information about the Kraken on the pirates site. So... these "Kraken Sightings" are either by people that take the game too seriously, or they're from people that want a good laugh.

You can rest assured, that as with all updates, it will appear on test before it's released on open.

Mac has it right, as seconded by Swash. I promise you, when the Kraken finally shows it's slimy head on test you will hear (read) the joyous news here immediately.

I think that unless someone has something found on PANDA3D, I wouldn't get yer hopes up.

Eh, well I'm looking forward to the Lv^'s, the Gold carry increases, and higher lvl enemies ( i know the Tormenta guys went ^ in levels ).

Im not sure if it was faked, but i saw a youtube video yesterday that had "proof" that disney had released the kraken on test, in my opinion it was mocked up because the video showed a picture of the site and with the updates down at the bottom had one line saying "the kraken is here!!!" and thats it. then i looked at the date it was posted, may 24, and wondered who was bored enough to get everyones hopes up then with a lame mockup.

i saw that too anoying very anoying but it was released during march concievable but not true

Ya those kind of things are very cruel, trying to lead people along, i have heard rumors of it being here by Christmas though with the way its going they would have a lot better luck with scrapping this game and creating a POTCO 2 with a different engine and better overall play ability.

For the record, there are several textures specifically for the kraken in the games phase files. There are even sounds for it (ie kraken roar). This gives us signs of them working on it. Unfortunately doesnt mean it will ever be publicly released (or when it will be).

Some people love to instigate rumors, just attention grabbers, which even enjoy the negative attention given once their rouse is discovered.

Rumors are such wonderful things. They are quite effective in keeping the masses wondering.

Rumor was that it would be released this spring.
Rumor was that it would be released this summer.
Rumor was that it would be released this fall.
Now the rumor is that it will be released by Christmas?
Do I get dibs on rumoring that it will now be released in Spring of 2010?

First, I agree with you, unfortunately Disney seems to be focused on two engines to support their games. Panda3D (Potco, and Toontown), and Flash (PixieHollow). Flash would never do the game justice. I dont see Disney venturing into any of the higher end engines that would require reinvestment, and redevelopment of the project. And being an MMO, I doubt there will be a POTCO 2, just new versions/releases of the current POTCO.

i agree Zep but they could at least go along with WoW and have different versions? like instead of wrath of the lich king, a new version that would play on the same servers could be "reign of barbossa" or something like that with a totally different story line. I wouldnt mind buying expansion packs and stuff like that if the game was any where near that good.

I understand what your saying (i think). But they would have to change the server software, etc as well. Cant host two different engines like that. Well maybe its possible, but they would have to be separate instances, you think it lags now... WOA! And the game play would be entirely separate, those running the panda3d version would not be able to interact with those in a different engine, as their server instances would have to be separate.
