Truthfully, I had a huge feeling since the day they announced Phase 1 of the beta that this would be a game to pay for, Just like toontown. It has 3D graphics, music, and many other things. I think Disney is going to try and pull this off.

Oh well, Hopefully the basic version will be fun also...

If the PotCO developers said it is free, and it is not (which it isn't), I'm going to get mad at them. Disney is a super rich company, and if they lose a thousand dollars a day by this game, it won't hurt them. Besides, this game will draw more and more people to the park - so if the game is free, they still make money.

Okay fellow pirates - here is my experience as a Beta 2 tester and the "free" version. I did have unlimited access - meaning I could create up to 4 pirates on my account and do all the quests that give special powers to TP to the other major islands as well as getting new skills on your weapons. I had a level 16 pirate, level 11 and level 6. (Have been trying doing things differently with each - to see which works best for me) - ANYWAY, over the weekend, I was switched from full access to basic access - which is what you would get if you play the free version. The ads were very distracting; you do have have fullscreen access; quests are locked early on; weapon skills become locked (my 2 that had voodoo dolls could pull them out but they no longer worked) - I could no longer TP to any of the islands I had finished the quests for. That is only what I recall off the top of my head but as a player who isn't very skilled at these kind of games, I can tell you anybody with any experience will max out of the free version (as far as leveling up) most likely in 2 hours. I did tell them in my bug reports I thought they should make more of it free but I suppose they want those that pay to feel like they are getting something... I mean you could continue to play - sailing around in the smallest boat and watching everybody else with much cooler weapons - but I didn't find it any fun. They did switch me back to unlimited when the weekend was over and everything works perfectly like it did - but the bottom line is this - Yes, there will be a free version - it won't include much. To fully enjoy the game, you will need to pay for it. And as a footnote, IF they ever let us change our clothes (something girls like to do from time to time anyway) I doubt we will have to purchase them - I think it would be more like VMK where you just pull up the menu and change that way) However, I would be surprised if we were allowed to change clothes - too many other things going on in the game and that has got to be the least of their worries. Sorry to be the one with bad news here but I have first hand experience.

Ouch if that's the case with Basic accounts I don't know how long I'll play. I'll wind up getting bored and sick of it :zu02zq:
Then again I don't know. I'll have to wait and see really.

When the developers said that the game was going to be free, they meant it can be free with limited access to some features. There's no reason to be getting mad at them :D
