I almost entirely agree with you, Basil. Except for the potions thing.

I think potions are the exact opposite of what attracted many of us to POTCO in the first place. It is not social. It is not interactive. There is no risk and no real reward.

I think that the first week of potions on the TEST server was the most boring week I have ever spent playing POTCO. No one was sailing. No one was chatting. No one was leveling.

I'll take the rest but leave potions out of it. For now. But if they are worked into a new chapter? I'm there...

Going to have to disagree with you there. My former guildmates have been using these potions over and over again with each other and laughing their arteries out. They've been having "too much" fun imo.

But yeah, it does keep some people from leveling on test, but I still see plenty of people doing both on open.

I really think POTCO actually needs more stuff like these, instead of gameplay being based on a linear story and leveling system. There was hardly any "for fun" stuff at all.

I hear ya Speedway Master. Test really does have a different vibe to it...Fewer servers, fewer people. And I may be at an age where burps and farts just aren't as funny as they used to be.

Not a HUGE fan of the potion making process. It can be wildly addictive but it is also isolating. As for the "ship repair" games...I think I would rather pay to get my boat fixed. Still wondering what "fishing" will bring. I can't shake the feeling that I will drop a line and catch a Magikarp...

Can we guess on island names now please? :/ Thank you. :) and a quick question for everyone Would Disney release "two game updates" to The Test Game and then to the Live Game in a month since we have like a little more than 2 weeks left of May? Because I think that more islands is definitely coming next to The Test Game and I just hope it is this week that it comes depending on which week or day it will come? What did you guys say about when updates come Monday Night when it turns Tuesday at like 12 am to 3 am Pacific time and Thursday at 12 a.m. to 3 a.m.? I just wondered. Thanx guys. :)

There are no set names for these islands, which makes them susceptible to change. As in they could be storyline, for show, or something else.

All they're called are "mysterious_1", "mysterious_2", etc...

Speedway Master 05-18-2010 05:17 AM

I was just wondering guys... have all the fishing phrases been posted yet? I'm not sure whether to post them or not.

Edit: 8 Mysterious islands? Isn't it possible that these islands can be put close together to group them as one area? Some doesn't seem landable, while there's one with a beach on it. Then again, they do have unique world map pictures of them. Only time will tell. Only speculation, but I'm kind of used to it.

ill ask the npc's and force them to telling me what is happening! ill be all like : :degen::pirate111za1::pirate91: :p

I also found more information about the fishing and Cannon Defense minigames based off of their speedchat phrases.

I only included potions because I am hoping that the next story chapter will REQUIRE them. A cave that you can only enter if you use the shrinking potion. A dangerous maze that you can only defeat if you use speed boost. A pygmy tribe that only allows you to survive attack if you can out burp the chief of the tribe.

That's the only reason that I can see for any of the potions. If htere isn't something like this, then the potions are worthless.

I agree they have to be necessary for some future quest or they are just a distraction.
:cat-ani: Most okay for a laugh but that is it.

Here are some random potion thoughts:

I used the potions to boost cannon damage in a eitc fleet and to run swiftly through padres to Darkhart.

Can you use them in pvp?

I guess the phantom spirits might make hide and seek fun.

I really would like a necessary use for the shrinkin' and growin' grogs.

Ghastly Visage, I do not like clashing with my clothes. Fashion is important.

Flatulent Fizz and Belchin' Brew, have gotten old quick ... I find the noise annoying.

Double gold ?... eh money not an issue.

Double rep ?... at level 50 eh... and do not like to level baby pirates quick.

Better health? ... rarely die now anyway.

No real desire to be a crab, scorpion or gator.

I need to have a reason to make them more than just for fun, otherwise I will only level potions on my main pirate. These new islands better have things that need potions

"Something Wicked This Way Comes"...have to agree with James Blade on that!

OK. I think those are great ideas. As long as the potions are required...I'll keep making them. Even if do completely isolate myself from the game while I am doing it...
