Its a good idea, but low levels will still. POTCO should put it on test, just to see how people like it.

Sorry, but this idea only seems good, when you are brand new to the game.

It is a very important learning curve, truly essential to the remaining game elements, for low level people to die over and ever when they are somewhere they should not be.

Without that remaining element of gameplay, all enemies should just as well be level 1. Putting level restrictions on individual islands fundamentally undermines the entire game. Spoonfeeding it is only that much worse.

The social interaction of the game often starts there. How you deal with a level 4 pirate in Tormenta, determines whether you will make a new friend, or an enemy to the last. Arrrgh!

----

There are reasons to have a level 1 pirate in Tormenta. I have attended numerous guild events where a level 1 pirate's survival through Tormenta was the actual goal of the contest. (Several variations; sometimes a race, sometimes a set path, etc.)

There have been many times were I have parked my low level pirate in dangerous places, just to chit chat with guild members and give them crew rep while they level or loot.

There have been many times where I have parked my low level pirate in dangerous places to act as a "teleport totem" for guild members, while chatting or doing other things.

"Hey, can you TP here while I get some more siege bombs?" Why should a level 1 pirate be prevented from being useful or helpful?

I have an idea which actually may be better, and is quite simple...

Lets say that you were a level 18 pirate, new to the game. Upon landing at the island/entering the area, if the average level of all the enemies on the island/cave/jungle were a set amount of levels above you, then during your loading screen, instead of one of those hints, it will say something like:

Quote:

WARNING!The area you are about to enter has enemies that may be too powerful for you. Enter with caution.
This would allow the player to know that they are entering a dangerous place. If this person is acting as a teleport totem or rep booster, then you probably can just disregard it.

Not a bad idea, my friend. I think it would be a wise thing for Disney to do. Of course, though, they never do the wise thing. So I'm just gonna shut up. Humph....

Nice Davy but it probably should say:

WARNING! The area you are about to enter has enemies that may be too powerful for you. Enter with caution. Oh and say goodbye to your rum!

I think sometimes people forget that little kids play this game as well. I'm sure there are some who can't even (or barely) read that just wander around aimlessly.

You guys are turning this non-issue into way too big of deal, if you don't like low levels hanging around high level islands then don't revive them when they die. Pretty simple and doesn't require a wasted effort by Disney to try to give them some sort of warning message or screen popup.

Trust me most low levels do indeed know that they will get killed easily on Tormenta and other higher level islands but they don't care because people revive them most of the time. I would much rather big D spent there programming time on some real updates to the game and not something as trivial as this. My .02

There's no such thing as a non-issue and we never turn anything into too big of a deal...what you need to remember is that we all come here to open discussions and then we debate them, be they good ideas or bad ones...

And there's always two sides to every topic...on one hand you have those that believe they should apply some restrictions as they do in other MMORPG's while others feel "let 'em explore and learn the hard way"...regardless we can only hope Big D reads these, which I'm sure they do, and then go from there...

Btw here's your change... .01 :pirate2:
