I can't remember exactly what they said, but i do remember everyone thinking it was ship customization when repair minigames came out, then later when scoundrel of the seas comes out.
And... big disappointment in both places.
Hopefully the pattern doesn't comtinue....

There was a video were an effects guy was showing off animations and weapon effects, etc...

As a Developer they have access to codes that allow them to get any weapon in the game without having to loot. When said Developer used said codes in the chat it said "Yarr! Ye Trade Worked!" Too confirm that his Dev Code worked.

Unfortunately some people jumped to conclusions and took this as a hint that Trading was coming, when it wasn't.
As far as when Repair Mini-Games, The Developers didn’t say anything, and the only reason people thought ‘Ship Customization’ when Scoundrel of the Seas came out was because the Bounty Hunters had different Sails & Hulls.

If Ship Customization started out small, then it wouldn't be a surprise. All things start out small, no?

I can see the sloop getting basic.

Remember the Light Frigate? I ca also see that becoming basic in the next year.

What I don't understand is why the Pirates Online developers don't have a link on their website that directs new/seasoned players to their official YouTube page, as further news/hints/stories/videos/etc.

Like, it should be on the home page, connected with the blog or something, or even attached as a tab to the left side of the page, where the other tabs reside that hide sub-categories.

Players need to be aware that Pirates Online has a YouTube page.

I agree with Ice.Not many players know about their youtube page.

Good work Disney. Make up for yourself after something as awful as Scoundrels was pitched as a big update. I sincerely hope that you don't let us all down by making this a mediocre update. Now you just need to fix your timing. Seeing as it is already late in the summer, a large amount of your players won't be able to play as much, with their break ending. Ironically, Disney always seems to appeal to kids with their update content, but release the updates right after their breaks. This happened with fishing and the new daggers last year.

Come on, John, don't be hard on Disney. They do all they can, and do you know how much coding it takes for even one small update? They work hard, so we shouldn't be criticizing them, we should be using constructive criticism and send them suggestions.

I'm assuming this will be launcher in the beginning of September to keep their players throughuot school whom would normally quit like they did when they raised the notoriety cap (IF THEY RAISE THE CAP I WILL BE SO ANGRY). This will be great, I will definetly extend my unlimited access for this though and play through September.

SOTL was never intended to be released ... that was a mishap and instead of taking them away from Pirates we received them why not just let them keep it. What will be coming with our next content are a ship you've never seen before.

Apologies for being very tight lipped about it all but we don't want to make any more promises we can't keep. Lessons learned. However, I can say with confidence the wait is well worth it.

Darn, I was hoping it was the old set of ships. I had my eye on the Revenant! I am curious what this new ship will look like. Hopefully, it will live up to our expectations.

This makes me a little annoyed. I kind of expected more than one new ship. However, one new ship is fine with me. It just depends on what this new ship is and whether or not it'll be more useful than a War Sloop.

But still, I'm glad there's at least ONE new ship. I was afraid all we were getting was armor. Pfff, I don't need that stuff.

The one new ship is probably a base model that you could add a bunch of features to. Like a Mr. Potato Head. Start out with the tater and add whatever you want.
