I named my first pirate Bellatrix Blackbones after the Death Eater in Harry Potter. I added the bones thinking it sounded pirateish.....

My second Charlie Baltimore came the name i used when i worked in a "grown up" place LOL....Which my "work" name was Charlie. THAT name came from the character Charlie Baltimore in the movie A Long Kiss Goodnight.

When it came to pirate number two well I liked the name and the reasons so I used it. Charlis has became my primary pirate and Bella is only for admin duties for the guild.

So very ordinary

I don't have any exciting reason for my names. I love the name Grace (my mother's name, and my daughter's middle name), and Dreadfury just sounded fierce to me. She is as tall as I could make her, while I am rather on the short side of average in reality.

The other two pirates I use have rather plain names as well, both using the surname Dreadfury. Charles is my hubby's name (although in-game, he is Grace's brother in my mind), and I just like the name Kate (probably because I love Katharine Hepburn). Kate is as small and thin as I could make her, and it is great fun when she fights some of those really big naval officers....

Karay Redlam;
Karay is a character from my favorite book (a piratey book nonetheless), 'Redlam' i took from 'Bedlam' which is a mental institution in England from the 1800s (I had been reading about it prior to first playing pirates) just changed 'bed' to 'red' cause 1. Red is my favorite color and 2. comes from 'fortune red' a piratey term i always use for usernames, emails, etc.

Well... Blythe... I really couldn't think of a name at all, so I started searching through baby name sites. Yes, I am pathetic lol. Came across Blithe and switched the "i" to a "y..." Blithe basically means "happy." How piratey lol. Then Adalia. Adalia's just an awesome song by Madina Lake. I probably pronounce it totally wrong, since the song doesn't even have the word "Adalia" in it... But it's nice, cuz if I ever get sick of the name.. I might be able to get it changed by reporting myself! Haha.

The Commodore 04-09-2008 12:36 PM

Well, I like navy ranks, and all my buddies call me Zeke. (No idea why) So I picked Commodore because Admiral Zeke's out on the test server. Not a really fancy stroy with mine.

custom names

How long does it take to get your name approved and how do they notify you? My first pirate I just picked a combo i thought was fun and now I am trying to do a second basec off the Roman Gods of the sea and moon that sailors would pray to in hopes of not sinking.

Sarah 04-16-2008 05:17 PM

Getting a name approved seems totally random. Sometimes if you just log out, then back in, you'll be approved right on the spot. Sometimes it takes a couple of days.

Well, that wasn't really helpful, LOL....Just have to wait and see :)

Eilissa 04-16-2008 05:43 PM

If you get rejected how do you know?

dangerousden 04-16-2008 06:19 PM

You get a pop up when you log in telling you it has been rejected.

Macon The Black 04-16-2008 06:30 PM

Dann Jacques 04-18-2008 05:21 PM

Well, La Puette (or de la Puette) was the name of my family around the 1700's. These were french who eventually found their way to the Americas, and among the folks that fought in the american revolutionary war at the last half of the century. Eventually, it changed to Puette, and many other variants. Of course, through marriages, etc, you've got to dig back to the civil war era to find anyone in my family with the name of "Pitts" (that it eventually evolved into).

Dann-Jacques is a variant of my name.

SO, hence "Dann-Jacques La Puette"
