When they greyed out, my overall rep was still only 23.

I did NOTHING but grenades from the time I got the quest. I even got my wife to sink all the ships and kill the officers guarding the crates/barrels to keep my rep down.

Im in deep trouble in this one,

Im level 39 I have mastered everything except Grenade(15) and Staff(19)

I am haveing a very difficult time finding a place to level up these two, see i didnt know about the "keep your skills at one point you gain more rep theory" until it was too late, I have tryed leveling up at Tormenta going up against brinescum and Molusk and that get's old really quick because you have sword welding fiends running around.

I tryed goin to Kingheads and everything is in the grey. Besides the sword wielding fiends.

Padre's Beach Everything is green and yellow "im picky i want to earn the highist rep possible" i like them red target

Outcast i can't really use nade's or my staff because no one there to heal me as for the stumps are a larger version of sword wielding fiend's who hit harder, and my nades are "thrown at my feet when every i try to use it against them"

Im lost i dunno what to do now....Unless disney goes back and reverts the XP gain for nades and staff i dunno what to do..(finding people to pair up with on land nowa days is hard because im being such higher level then them)

I think that the new French and Spanish enemies have given a potential solution to your problem. Just go to Cutthroat or Cangrejos, and see if the new undeads are any good eats.

You get the same rep for red and yellow.

Green cuts that rep in half.

Grey cuts it in half again.

LOL WOW, where you been? it depend's on how many one point key combinations you attack an enemy with that determines your rep.

you do not get the same rep for yellow and red kills..:laughks2:

Are you being deliberately obtuse, or are you that snarky all the time?

The rep you get is based on both the number and type of attacks you make, and the color of the enemy (red/yellow/green/grey).

The same attacks on the same enemies will give you the same rep if the enemy is red or yellow.

When it turns green, those same attacks will give you half the rep they would have when the enemy was red or yellow.

When it turns grey, those attacks will give you half the rep it would have when it was green. And as you keep gaining skill and rep levels, the rep you get keeps going down, eventually reaching 0.

For example, when I started working the grenades on Kingshead, I got 40 rep per kill, mostly. If it took one fewer grenade, it gave 36 rep. If it took one more, it gave 44 rep. But mostly, they all died giving me 40 rep. This was constant when they were both red and yellow.

As soon as they turned green, it went to 20 rep per kill. Just as is was previously, if it took one fewer grenade, I got 18. If it took one more, I got 22. But mostly, they all died giving me 20 rep.

When they turned grey, it went to 10 rep, sometimes 9 or 11.

Now, as you can see half of 40 is 20. And half of 20 is 10.

What I was trying to do was help you realize that you don't need to limit your targets to red ones. You can use the yellow ones too, and still get the same rep that you would for the reds.

ok chief...I don't see where geometry has play in your answer, but if you really must know I'm naturally snarky, and if you go ahead and try my method you might see a diffrence. let's for exsample: Go to Tormenta use hex shot on a Molusk and sit there and just throw dagger's at it don't click your mouse to attack it, just use # key's only and attack it, let's see how much rep you get then....(should ammount to somewhere around 100+ depending if you have crew or not...do the same for grenade's pal...same amount of rep. your theory where ever it came from must be a hell of a good one, because it sound's like you have been doing something wrong....(oh must be the fact you signed up in feburary..ya that must be it.)

You misunderstand.

I am not disputing that you can get different rep from using different numbers and types of attacks. I am also not saying that you always get the same amount of rep from a mob.

What I am saying is that if you use (for example) your dagger attack on a RED mob, then use the identical dagger attack on a YELLOW mob of the same type, you will get the same amount of rep. If you then use that same dagger attack on a GREEN mob, you will get half the rep.

Do you understand now, or should I try using smaller words?

This is a great guide, I've been using it and after a few long sessions I leveled up to 13. I agree that you have to change servers, there are some real pests around when you are working on leveling with this weapon. Helping each other out if you find someone who will cooperate helps a lot, if not and they are low level free players I usually let them get killed off if one of the the Vets hops the fence (I'm evil that way).

Cloudburst 06-03-2008 03:14 AM

Problem at Kingshead... I have been leveling my nades there since last night and now the guards are all coming through the fence! What to do?

I noticed that if you hit the soldiers that walk back and forth along the path that they sometimes will jump the fence. I think it has to do with having too many mobs in one spot. Stick to the veterans/officer from the parade ground itself.

Cloudburst 06-03-2008 06:28 PM

That's what I have been doing. I throw my stink pot then they all come over and walk back and worth while im hittting them with the nades and then, suddenly really fast they spread out come back and go through the fence.

podbuster 06-08-2008 01:17 PM

Very nice guide, except that grenades aren't exactly my favorite weapon... meh. If I saw this at lvl 20 tho I would have used it.

League 06-10-2008 06:55 AM

As long as the grenades are easy to level up, they're my cup of tea. I really loved them after I got Long Volley...
