I would recommend you look at page one of this guide - it isnt about the ships as much as how you use the brain to get the most REP possible from each ship (depending on your level) :)

Nope. No sailing nor cannon reputation (nor quest items) are given when sailing ship vs. ship (SvS) - none at all. Doing target practice on NPC ships while in SvS will get you booted from crew, 99% of the time.

This is perhaps the very best page on all of POF...it makes the site. In-game, to some players, you can say:

as long as you have the space before "com" and after "ineforums."

This is perhaps the best guide I have ever read.
This guide has helped me level up my sailing and cannon level.

Obviously Edward read this before me because he helped me get my cannon level to 20 to 21 in under thirty minutes.(or within an hour.)

I will continue to use this guide until I master my cannon.

got a quick question. im mastered on sail. however i cannot get the last skill level to open. its the one called leadership. it comes after the take cover skill.. im a level 40 pirate master with everything except cannons mastered.. am i missing something. do i need master cannon for that sail skill to open.. arrrrrghhh LOL

Master Sail is the prize you get for completing the Pearl Quest - it is not a 'weapon earned' skill but a 'quest completed' skill :)

Once you see jack after saving th Pearl - you are awarded Master Sail. It also holds no 'earned points' - so you do not need to save points for it to make it better.

Would most likely be easier to do it on land, with accuracy and all that. However on ship, you dont need to worry about getting attacked back ;)
