Sven Osymthe 01-10-2010 05:17 AM

I liked today (even though I forgot to bet on the first game), 1-0 on bets, 1-1 on who I thought would win, and 2-0 on who I wanted to win :D I don't feel so bad for 500 on the Cowboys...

For tomorrow.. I said Packers over Cardinals and Patriots over Ravens. And assuming that is the outcome.. Colts over Jets, Cowboys over Vikings, Patriots over Chargers, and Packers over Saints. Might change my final bet on that scenario, but if that is how it plays out, those are who I want to win.

The Skirata Clan 01-10-2010 06:19 AM

Blasphemer! Colts will play Jets. Colts play lowest seed. And Vikings will be playing Cowboys. Saturday is a bad day to play football, I go out saturdays.

Sven Osymthe 01-10-2010 06:26 AM

Colts play the Jets if the Patriots win. They play Ravens if the Ravens win.

The Skirata Clan 01-10-2010 06:28 AM

That's right! I thought Jets was the Lowest seeded team.

Tom Sharkwash 01-10-2010 05:50 PM

Good-bye Eagles! Hello Vikings.

swordshot 01-10-2010 06:58 PM

Err tom lol i say our war is over until next season ;) GO COWGALS!

Tom Sharkwash 01-11-2010 02:32 AM

So now your a Cowboys fan, for the time being?

Sven Osymthe 01-11-2010 02:38 AM

Darn... 0-2 for today.. at least I didn't go all out on these two :D

My picks as of now for next week are Colts over Ravens, Chargers over Jets, Cowboys over Vikings and Cardinals over Saints.

The Skirata Clan 01-11-2010 02:43 AM

I ended 2-2.

Colts Vs. Ravens and Cowboys Vs. Vikings are going to be the best games to watch. Best of luck you Cowboy fans... You are going to need it.

Captain Del 01-11-2010 02:47 AM

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!

I've got confidence in them by the likes I haven't put in them in... well, forever! Just think about it. Two years ago, the Giants were the underdogs all the way through the playoffs, even after a fairly terrible season. YET, they went on to win the Super Bowl. I don't know, I'm just saying, maybe the blood runs in the Hudson :D Even though the Meadowlands is in New Jersey... The Jets defense is starting to come together, and Sanchez is starting to look like an actual QB (finally). I know that the Jets can beat the Chargers, they just got to be sure they wake up.

Colts over Ravens, JETS OVER CHARGERS (WOO!), Cowboys over Vikings, and Saints over Cards.

Sven Osymthe 01-11-2010 02:53 AM

Quote:

But the Giants had a Manning, which is already a disadvantage for the other team... :piratetongueor4:

TooHip 01-11-2010 06:03 AM

Wildcard round settled, time to bet on the divisional round games!

The Skirata Clan 01-16-2010 02:02 AM

My picks are...

Vikings over Cowboys, Chargers over Jets, Saints over Cardinals, and Ravens over Colts. However I think that Cardinals and Colts are going to win their games.

The POF Casino has Ravens over Colts, Cardinals over Saints, Chargers over Jets, and Vikings over Cowboys.

Game to watch so far is Cowboys Vs. Vikings.

Lets all agree to one victory post. That way no feelings get hurt.

Tom Sharkwash 01-16-2010 02:23 AM

Here are my picks
Cardinals over Saints
Ravens over colts
Cowboys over Vikings
Chargers over jets

Sven Osymthe 01-16-2010 02:29 AM

My picks are Colts over Ravens, Cardinals over Saints, Chargers over Jets, Cowboys over Vikings. At least, that is who I think will win. The teams I want to win are the same, except I want the Jets to win (doubt it will happen though..)

Jack I 01-16-2010 03:25 AM

Since I don't rarely go for Football, not dropping bets on them all, but I'm going out for two.

Cowboys over Vikings, and Jets over Chargers. I have a strong feeling Jets won't win it, but I have my reasons for betting for them.

Kid Heartbreaker 01-17-2010 01:29 AM

Who Dat!

Sorry about the Font Size - must be the Rum talking ;-)

Sven Osymthe 01-17-2010 01:36 AM

Glad I was too late to bet on that game, but got some in on the other 3 :D

The Skirata Clan 01-17-2010 11:15 PM

I have only one thing to say...

How 'bout them Cowboys! Did they even showed up for the game?

.....That was my only victory post.

Tom Sharkwash 01-18-2010 01:41 AM

Well I'm not sure what was up with the cowboys. Romo wasn't getting any protection.

Sven Osymthe 01-18-2010 01:49 AM

Well this week was interesting... 1/3 on betting (good thing the two losses were only 100, while the win was 1000 :D), 1/4 on who I thought, and 2/4 on who I wanted.

My current guess for next week, Colts over Jets and Saints over Vikings.

The Skirata Clan 01-18-2010 02:51 AM

Colts better win. They allowed Jets to be in playoffs, so they better finish them.

Colts and Vikings are going to the Superbowl.

Captain Del 01-18-2010 03:54 AM

Ah, so it seems the Jets won, ey? Indeed, as I predicted ~_~ Reminds of the Giants two years ago, huh? ;D

Hmm, I'll say Jets over Colts, Vikings over Saints.

Basil Dreadflint 01-18-2010 08:07 PM

I won 3 out of 4 this weekend. Darn Jets kept me from perfect bets.

Bug 01-19-2010 12:14 AM

Vikes are going ALL the Way!! I have my pirate Jade Willows & ALL of my Pixies in Purple & Gold. What team can hope to beat a team of Vikings with a Gunslinger for a Quarterback & Fairies as cheerleaders sending all that Pixie Dust to them besides LOL!!!!
See Bas Pixie Dust & Maple Syrup are good for something!!
Yay Purple People Eaters!!!

TooHip 01-19-2010 07:09 AM

Down to three games to bet on. Get your pick in for the two this week. Good luck!

combatlizzy 01-19-2010 06:46 PM

<<crawls out from under her Terrible Towel>> Okay, now that I am over this, bets placed. But I'm not telling where my shiney went!

Not to cause trouble, but how about a team decked out in Black and Gold with a human Laser Beam as a QB, all the voodoo cheerleaders on the sidelines are related to Tia Dalma, and the game is played in the old stomping grounds of Jean Lafitte.

I hearby give notice that Kid & Bug will be very very AFK on Sunday!

Aaron McEagle 01-23-2010 12:20 AM

You for got one thing....

THE BEAST

Adrian Peterson

The Skirata Clan 01-23-2010 09:40 AM

I want the Vikings to win. They are my team. But Saints have a great advantage, and that is that key Defensive players of The Vikings are injured and are questionable. If they play they won't be at 100%.

The winner of the NFC will win the Superbowl.

Tom Sharkwash 01-23-2010 11:33 PM

Here are my picks for tommorw:
Jets over Colts
Saints over Vikings
I need some money so I am going with the Jets considering someone bet 3000 on Colts.
I don't like the Vikings because they knocked out the Cowboys.

swordshot 01-24-2010 03:45 AM

viking jets superbowl vikings win!

Kid Heartbreaker 01-24-2010 04:47 PM

Since everyone will be restless until kickoff, I thought I'd start the day with a few football related jokes. I'll pick on the Vikings - but you are all welcome to use these on your own team too. Add to these if you know any:

Q: What do you call 53 people sitting around a TV watching the Super Bowl?
A: The Vikings.

Q: What do the Vikings and possums have in common?
A: Both play dead at home and get killed on the road.

Q: How do you keep a Vikings player out of your yard?
A: Put up goal posts.

Bug 01-24-2010 10:49 PM

All I have to say Kid is ... GO VIKES!!!!!!!!! :piratedanceeu8:
The only thing I have against the Saints is that we are playing them! :laughks2:

combatlizzy 01-24-2010 11:42 PM

Sven Osymthe 01-24-2010 11:51 PM

Well, no matter what happens in the other game, the team I like is Miami bound again :D

Jack I 01-25-2010 12:13 AM

Well here my Jets were winning before I left to eat, I come back and the Colts have done gone and hung them out to dry.

There went my 5625 doubloons. lol

combatlizzy 01-25-2010 12:16 AM

YaY!! Bet the Colts this week!

Li Wildtimbers 01-25-2010 01:07 AM

My Colts won and headed for the Bowl!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!

Would like to see them against the Saints but the Vikes just scored again....darn it

Sven Osymthe 01-25-2010 04:12 AM

Bug 01-25-2010 04:33 AM

Kid Good Luck to the Saints at the SB!!
I am still full of Purple Pride!

Li Wildtimbers 01-25-2010 04:34 AM

WOOT WOOT!!!!!

Colts vs Saints for the Super Bowl......my pick would be Colts by 10

Li

combatlizzy 01-25-2010 04:36 AM

Well, I won my big bet on Colts but lost my small one on Vikes...should have known not to bet with Mr. Farve! Isn't he the dude who can't make up his mind--->do I wanna play or not?

Li Wildtimbers 01-25-2010 04:39 AM

that be the very one Miss Lizzy

Sven Osymthe 01-25-2010 04:42 AM

Hes also the one that threw an interception on his last pass with every team hes started on... :D

Basil Dreadflint 01-25-2010 04:42 AM

Like Lizzy, I won on the Colts, but lost on the Vikes.

I really wanted to see the Vikes and Jets in the big game though. The guy who invented football against the rookie on the team Favre left would've been fun!

Kid Heartbreaker 01-25-2010 05:05 AM

WHO DAT!

Sorry Bug (still love ya).

Awesome game! That was a knock-down drag-out head-butt of a game - the best Conference Championship game in at least 10 years.

Just so the rest of you know what it has been like to be a Saints fan....after 43 years of snatching Defeat from the jaws of victory; we finally get to the Super Bowl and are given the Ugliest Conference Championships hats ever made.

The Skirata Clan 01-25-2010 05:51 AM

I knew my Vikings were not going to win. I honestly wasn't expecting the game so close or to go to overtime. Our Defensive front were not at a 100%, The Williams Wall and Edwards were playing with injuries. I am not making excuses we were beaten by the best Team in the NFC.

We had a lot of turnovers. No team can win like that. I was expecting the Saints Offense to capitalize on all of those turnovers.

My dear friend Lizzy, your bragging rights and smack talk ended when your Steelers didn't make the playoffs. However you have to admit that Old Man Favre is one though player. He got late hits left and right and got back up and gave one big game. Say what you want, but that man has a lot of heart and guts.

The best teams of the season are going to the Super Bowl. They both deserve it. I am glad that the best teams will face each other. It would have been nice if both had their undefeated record going into the game.

TooHip 01-25-2010 06:47 AM

This weeks bets have been settled. Place your bets on the BIG game!! Naturally there will be betting for the winner, but there's a few other bets open as well.

Good luck!

The Skirata Clan 01-25-2010 06:58 AM

No Pro Bowl?

combatlizzy 01-25-2010 02:04 PM

Bows politely to TSC......

swordshot 01-25-2010 02:10 PM

Kid Heartbreaker 01-26-2010 01:32 AM

I watched the Saints Vikings game again today and I think more than anything else; they lost because of bad Karma put out by the song Prince did.

You can find it on the TUBE keyword: Prince Vikings. It is the one with the two people in the White jerseys - warning - it is really a whimpy song.

If you are going to do a really bad song, at least do it in jest as PooPoo Broussard did. Just search for: poopoo pants on the ground.

Lastly, my girls have been watching this one all afternoon - keywords: Party in The USA MIA Saints Remix - it is the one with players in white jerseys. That one is actually fairly well done with pictures and words that fit the song.

Bug 01-26-2010 02:41 AM

Hey all, I will be rooting for the Saints on SB Sunday! They deserve to win!!! No hard feelings here :)
Both teams gave us a great exciting game to watch ... gotta love it.

Captain Del 01-28-2010 01:45 AM

I'm still trying to drown my sorrows over the loss of the Jets to the Colts... - cries -

I'm depending on the Saints to redeem Gang Green! Saints over Colts!

Kid Heartbreaker 02-04-2010 06:38 PM

Only 78 or so more hours till Kick Off - Yay.

Every year I grow tired of all the "Team Stats" that are in papers, TV and online. What I like are the "people" stories of the players on either team.

Believe it or not, there are 9 players between the Saints and Colts who are from Louisiana. This newspaper story details the connection and strange travel paths that a few of the players took to get to their teams and the Super Bowl. If you are prompted for a Zip Code, enter 70501 as that is the one the newspaper is located in.

The above article mentions 8 players between the two teams. There is actually a 9th player. Colts TE Tom Santi (on Injured Reserve). You Word Jumble fans will notice if you rearrange the letters in his last name - they spell Saint. What you and the newpaper article writer may not know is that Santi was born in New Orleans.

You may also be facinated to know that as the Saints try to win the Lombardi Trophy, they do so with the help of Quarterbacks Coach Joe Lombardi - Grandson of Vince.

......77 hours and 50 minutes to go!

combatlizzy 02-04-2010 07:17 PM

Me heart wants the Saints to take it, but me brain says Manning is a great QB & wants another ring before he retires. Hmmm..decisions, decisions...

Bug 02-05-2010 09:23 PM

Go Saints!!!!

Basil Dreadflint 02-05-2010 09:24 PM

I haven't placed any bets yet either. This is a tough one to bet on.

Li Wildtimbers 02-05-2010 09:49 PM

i hoping the Colts pull off the win but with the Colts having injuries, the Saints might take it.

Kid Heartbreaker 02-06-2010 12:03 AM

48 Hours and 14 minutes to Geaux

Factoids:

1. Since 2002 when the Conferences were divided into Four 4 team Divisions, the NFC South is the first Division to have all 4 teams make the Super Bowl.

2. There has never been a Punt Return for a TD in the Super Bowl.

3. If you use a timer to Start/Stop the time only from Snap/Kick to Whistle; an average NFL game is only 11.5 minutes of actual play time.........The Halftime show by the Who will be 12 minutes.

Sven Osymthe 02-06-2010 12:22 AM

I know this will be a good game, and even though I personally want the Colts to win, I am fine with either team walking away with the title.

I want the Colts to win mostly because that is my favorite team. Plus, of the two they have been the most consistent team of the decade, and should have had more than one ring to show for it (05, 07, and 08 for example).

Just another fact to add - The last time these two teams had a shot at the Superbowl (2006), the conference title game was almost exactly the same. Colts rallied from a large deficit of points to beat an AFC East team in Indianapolis; the Saints played the NFC North Champion. Then the Superbowl went on to be played in Miami, and for the first time, in the rain.

The Skirata Clan 02-06-2010 06:34 AM

For the first time since I can remember I have no clear favorite or at least a team that might look better than the other.

I don't remember seeing the best teams of each conference play.

Sven Osymthe 02-06-2010 04:32 PM

Quote:

I don't remember seeing the best teams of each conference play.
The last time that happened was when the Bills lost to the Cowboys over a decade and a half ago. Prior to that, i'm not sure when.

The Skirata Clan 02-06-2010 08:46 PM

Oh yeah, at The Rose Bowl, right.

Kid Heartbreaker 02-07-2010 03:04 PM

Unavoidable Super Bowl Fact:

The Loser of todays game will be the 13th different loser in the last 13 years!

The Skirata Clan 02-08-2010 04:07 AM

So, in 31 occasions the same team lost? I don't understand.

Sven Osymthe 02-08-2010 04:11 AM

Congrats Saints and their fans :) But if their division keeps going that way.. Tampa Bay will be the Champions? :piratesing:

And Skirata, that means the loser of the Super Bowl has been different each time in the last 13 games.

The Skirata Clan 02-08-2010 04:15 AM

Next year it will be Browns Vs. Buccaneers.

Edit: I got the Interception bet, and the More Points in second half bet, and the Who scores first bet. I don't remember the other bets. And I didn't bet on a winner.

Sven Osymthe 02-08-2010 04:20 AM

Switch the Lions with the Buccaneers (although that is the NFC title game), and it sounds about right! :piratetongueor4:

The Skirata Clan 02-08-2010 04:21 AM

Don't leave The Raiders/Browns AFC title.

combatlizzy 02-08-2010 04:47 AM

The Skirata Clan 02-08-2010 05:09 AM

It was the Rum Lizzy.

Kid Heartbreaker 02-08-2010 01:18 PM

WHO DAT - WHO DAT - Who Dat say dey gonna beat dem SAINTS!

I won most of my bets. Very good game. I thought it would come down to who could run the ball better or who won the turnover battle.

The Skirata Clan 02-09-2010 04:30 AM

Well, all and all, this has been better than last season as far a betting. Last year we had only MNF to bet on. This season we had all games.

Sven Osymthe 02-09-2010 04:39 AM

And next year should be even better. Hopefully both teams that played in the most viewed show of all time will return to the playoffs (Colts are pretty much a given, someone is getting a big contract.)

Basil Dreadflint 02-09-2010 02:32 PM

Actually, there's a very good chance of no one getting any big contracts this year. Until the players and teams all come to an agreement, most owners will be very skeptical about giving away any big contracts.

The salary caps are gone, the profit sharing is gone, free agancy is a huge issue, the players association isn't meeting in good faith.

There is a lsim possibility that there may not even be any real football next year, if they don't start some truely productive meetings and come up woth some viable agreements. A player lockout has happened in the past, and could possibly happen again!

combatlizzy 02-09-2010 04:34 PM

I remember that, Basil. The real teams were substituted with the amateurish teams. What a season that was! Think I lost interest after like the first 2 games..lol

Sven Osymthe 02-09-2010 06:11 PM

Quote:

True, not many people could receive a big contract next year, but the owner of the team has already talked about making the player I was talking about the highest paid player. Manning is the life of the team, and his contract ends at the end of next season.. can't see him wanting a small one :laughks2:

And next year should be fine. Granted, there will be a lot of changes.. but I don't see them having a big effect on every team, some may not even be bothered in the slightest.

Basil Dreadflint 02-09-2010 06:19 PM

Quote:

Unless an agreement can be reached between the player's union and NFL owners, the 2011 football season remains in jeopardy.
Straight from an NFL press release. As such, if they don't sit down and start serious discussions soon, MOST owners will be very reluctant to give away any big long term contracts when they know they could be faced with a lockout season.

Smart owners will let contracts sit in their last year, or only give one year contracts.

Sven Osymthe 02-09-2010 06:58 PM

I've seen quite a lot released, and mentioned too, but until the next season comes I am still going to look on the bright side about it, because that leaves something left to look forward too. The issue might not be solved this year, but there is still a slight chance.

The Skirata Clan 02-09-2010 07:37 PM

There is a "14" in a scale of 1-10 of strike according to an players' rep.
