Well as far as this goes for being harmless....I heard a guy on Abassa once (Mind you I rarely go to Abassa) and he was telling someone to go tell one of the other 'infamous' Abassa Tortuga PvP fighter that he wanted to face him.And something like we won't crash each other this time.If people can actually crash other people's computers like this than something really bad could happen anytime soon.I have been on Abassa once and suddenly my game froze for a minute when a group of PvPglitchers were fighting neerby.I like some glitches but this one is far to dangerous at this point,if I had a different opinion before then I have certainly reviesed it.

They are talking about crashing each other's GAME not their entire computer. A game crash is caused by killing someone who is in jail. (Had a strange KO on a flagship yesterday and duplicated this exactly.) The second time you go to jail (from within jail) you get an "infinite" jail loading screen and have to restart Pirates of the Caribbean online. That's the only "crash" they are talking about.

This is against Disney rules, mates. And you can be banned for it!! This is one of the reasons that I stopped PVP'ing months ago. What is the fun in PVP'ing if the odds are stacked against ya? Just my 2 cents for what it is worth-but glitching is totally against the rules of the game! Pirates are expected to report glitches-not exploit them. And I am not posting this to put anyone down-just stating fair game play.

Bubba Bunny x 04-01-2010 05:36 PM

I like to glitch in the game as much as the next person, but its never crossed my mind as agaisnt the rules. If it was a glitch that gave unlimited health like the god glitch for example then yes, I would say thats a big no-no and it should be against the rules. Ive had people call me cheaters when the rules clearly state "do not use any programs to enhance game play"!!! I didnt see anything about glitches if Im wrong then correct me now. As for the pvp glitch I do see it as harmless, but I would like it to be fixed because some people take it a little to seriously and I dont like the idea of my game that I pay for being crashed.

Alright, might as well throw my opinion in here..

The PvP glitch harms the gaming enviroment, end of discussion. It causes lag, and slowly degrades the preformance of the server. Even on the random times Abassa is Ideal, I STILL notice it runs a little slower than the other Ideal servers. Why? Because the PvP glitch is an exploit in game, possibled a broken code of some sort. It pirates time after time pound away at that one exploit on a specific server, chances are its going to affect the entire server as a whole. A server is like a window, and the PvP glitch is a crack. If players keep pounding at that crack, sooner or later, its going to break the window.

The reason pirates do the PvP glitch seems to be a few reasons.
  • The different enviroment - lets face it, your first or second PvP is kinda mysterious and stuff like that, but after a while, you get sick and tired of staring at that cave.
  • Continued play time - PvP's have a, what, 6 minute timer on them? When doing the PvP glitch, you can keep fighting for hours without having to stop. Its like a never ending battle against your foe, and you aren't pressured by the timer to try something different.
  • Making a name for yourself - The big reason. Pirates like to the glitch out in the open, on a hugely populated server, in the middle of crowds, so that they can "show off." Whether they want to boast their popularity, make their guild's presence known, or degrade their enemies, pirates like to do this for the social aspects.

Now, the only real way to resolve this problem, is not by just fixing it. Because we all know, the master glitchers and PvPers out there are gonna find a way to start it up again. No, Disney can't just fix it, but also shift the action somewhere else. A PvP server, per-say. Of course, a lot of things will have to be set up to prevent mass newbie killing sprees and spawn killers, but at least it will be a way to make pirates not WANT to find exploits.

Now, do ALL glitches have to be fixed? No. Wall glitches that can be used for leveling, invincibility glitches, etc. YES, those need to be fixed. But do glitches like the Empty KH glitch need to be fixed? Not so much.

well i have had ppl have their hard drives crashed after pvp glitch where someone kept crashing them, go firgure

KRAKEN OF THE EAST 04-10-2010 12:58 AM

The glitch does NOT harm the environment. Period. It might cause a small lag, but hey, if you don't like it, go to another server. However i DO like the idea of pvp servers, and i think they should add those. But wanting to get rid of a harmless glitch that doesn't make the game unfair to any other players whatsoever, is ridiculous. It isn't hacking, it isn't harming anyone and it isn't giving the people who use it a higher advantage than the ones who don't. Also, this glitch has never been a nuisance or a struggle for disney. I think that since they haven't fixed it yet, they obviously don't mind it. But if they ever do fix it, it would probably only be because they want a break from the uproar of complaints sent in by noobs with their panties in a wad.

...im gonna throw out something here....Disney moderates the game...is it remotely possible they remote "crash" players..or boot em...and then ya get the bug report that actually will prove where and what you were doing, specifically....I mean think about it...I have tried the harmless ones like flying behind pr cause its pretty,,,the first time I actually glitched thru that wall as a new plyr while fighting a merc...anyway,,I have done some of those on empty servers late at night...and got booted off game....I finally came to believe its because of moderation...I rarely get the boot on a empty server...only crowded ones or during invasions...most times if you enter a glitch, its fine...but if you start looking for more in same area...or a bunch of friends tp to you...you might notice if you get booted....when pvp is going on where everyone who enters tort town can see it...and it goes on and on and on...and a few start "crashing/logging out"...I always wonder anyway...:skull:

Glitching of any kind is unintended to be in the game. Glitching damages the code, thus damaging the game environment. Disney has fixed this glitch numerous times in the past, indicating they don't want it to be there. People keep rediscovering it, and I think they've just given up for now - who can blame them, no matter what they do, someone just HAS to have a PvP glitch.

Nothing else to really add.

There really ISNT anything else to add, only the ones against the glitch have been saying their point over and over. It was obviously unintended at first, but now they realize it isn't hurting anybody or anything, meaning it IS NOT hurting the environment. And believe it or not, they haven't been fixing this glitch over and over. Like i said, it hasn't ever been a nuisance. They don't care anymore because it isn't a real problem.

Actually, both sides have said their points over and over again. Wanna know the difference between both sides? One has been giving facts, clearly showing that the glitch is harmful to the game. The other side.. well, they've just been denying everything because they want to have fun with something unintended in the game.

The glitch was unintended, we all know that. The glitch doesn't harm the PLAYER environment, again, we all know that. However, those against the glitch seem to mix one very important detail up, the PLAYER environment isn't the GAME environment. The game environment is the coding of the game. What is a glitch? An error in the code. What's an error in the code? Damage to the game environment.

And, believe it or not, they've fixed the glitch numerous times. I've been playing this game since March of 2008. From now to then, there have been so many variations of this glitch that I lost count. Why have there been so many? People keep rediscovering the glitch. When do they rediscover the glitch? AFTER the developers FIX the glitch. Don't believe me? The glitch used to be as simple as teleporting to a person on your friend list. Can you do that now? NOPE.

If you read the last part of my post, it's obviously a nuisance to the developers of the game. They've fixed the glitch numerous times since it first arrived, yet some players can't just play the game, no, they have to rediscover the glitch time and time again. If anything, the developers have just given up for now because they're tired of dealing with it, either that, or the updates on Test are more important. Here's an example for you. You build something, then someone comes along and breaks it. You fix it, they break it again. After 5 or so times of this happening, are you, or are you not, gonna get tired of fixing your stuff?

This glitch doesn't belong in the game, no matter how much people want to deny it. If Disney wanted it in the game, they would add PvP servers. That being said, I fully support the addition of PvP servers. Not only because it would be fun, but it would actually be INTENDED to be in the game. That and, those that have nothing better to do than rediscover a glitch in the game would be distracted on a PvP server.

More denial will follow, seems to be a pattern.

Ham 04-25-2010 11:49 AM

Having a pvp server would be a great thing. The only reason I do pvp glitch on abassa is because I can find a person that will do it with me. Pvp servers would be cool, long pvp and in a lot of areas.
