I have a friend who either let his membership expire or cancelled it. He retained his notoriety (level 28, if I remember right) and skills, but all of the weapons and skills that are unavailable to basic access members were locked, as well as teleportation abilities. My guess is that once he starts paying again they woud be unlocked.

I'm sure there are no guaranties that this would happen for everyone that cancels, or that he will continue to be allowed to retain his notoriety, and locked weapons and skills. But, unless somebody else cancels with different results, I would feel pretty safe cancelling for up to at least a year without worry of losing the character and weapons and skills I had earned if it was me.

done that they want me to call a number and pay:laughks2:

Disney has never been known to do this in over 6 years of Toontown. Your best bet is ringing them or emailing them.

Good Luck!

Thank-you Nick, its nice to know we've been heard. I wasnt sure if the admins had a part in the POTC game or not. I'm definitely gonna do that and post here what I find out.:buds:

mind you this is just my opinion but im thinking the boss battle will not be back up until they have more quest added so for all those who are waiting on boss battle will have something to do after the battle otherwise they will just be waiting again.
anything is possible but it will surprise me if it comes back up before after boss battle quest are added.

mrcharisma316 01-14-2008 10:21 PM

yeah i was thinkin that but i personally have lots of work to lvl up weapons etc and skills and will still play after i beat the boss battle

Well, I just got out of live support and they were pretty much useless. I've attached a screenshot of the convo below.

Pretty much i got nothing from them.

The initial submission was:

Trying to find an answer to a question i've been asking on the forums.

SERVER:Customer is waiting for Response...
SEAN:Hello Rachael.
RACHAEL:Hello Sean. I was wondering. I joined monthly membership a month ago
RACHAEL:I have completed all that i really can in the game (without maxing out my weapons
RACHAEL:
RACHAEL:I and many of my friends are waiting for the boss battle, but
RACHAEL:i'm wondering about puttin my account back to basic membership (free) until theres actually something i can do
RACHAEL:
RACHAEL:i hate paying to play a game and basically wander around aimlessly, i can do that for free lol
SEAN:One moment please.
RACHAEL:now if i do change from unlimited, do i lose all i've worked for? is my account gonna be deleted?
SEAN:If you choose to go back to basic access you will not be able to use the special items you gained with unlimited access. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may cause, and hope this information is helpful.
RACHAEL: Well, how long until the game is back in full form? i mean i'm paying for a service i fell I'm not getting
SEAN:Everything I know about new features I've learned from the Pirates Online homepage. I recommend checking the front page regularly for the latest details on new features. I apologize that I could not provide any further information.
RACHAEL:so basically i pay for something and get no useful help or info on it?
RACHAEL:
RACHAEL:I'm very disappointed in this
SEAN:You can call Customer Service at 1 (877) 427-7744 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Time Monday through Friday, and Saturday and Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Time and our agents will be glad to assist you. RACHAEL: So your telling me that live help support cant help answer our questions?
RACHAEL:
RACHAEL:ok, thanks
SEAN:You're welcome, and thank you for choosing Pirates Online Chat support. Have a great day!
SERVER:Agent has closed chat session.

Pirate Rose 01-14-2008 11:26 PM

Then everyone should go and call customer support.

mrcharisma316 01-14-2008 11:33 PM

but they charge you for that a way to get more money from you

sneaky sneaky disney

Sarah 01-14-2008 11:41 PM

What an incredibly un-helpful live chat you had.....

I've called cust. support in the past, and all they have only been able to help with account issues (subscribtion type stuff), no help with tech or game issues. Basically, cust. support is the billing dept.

If anyone calls and finds out otherwise, PLEASE post it here so we can all call :)

I'm also sick of waiting for the boss battle, and I fear all that new content they have promised us in February will keep us busy for a day, changing our looks and getting a tat.....

sigh

mrcharisma316 01-15-2008 02:15 AM

i wouldnt completely knock changing youre looks cause my pirate looks like a midget:laughks2:

This is the email I just got yesterday, utterly useless, and I asked in my email for them to refrain from sending me a "canned" reply, but no one there seems to listen to their customers anyway. Here is the 0.5 seconds of automated "customer service" I got - Dear Pirates Online Guest,

Thank you for contacting Pirates of the Caribbean Online.

Please know the Pirates Online team is currently looking into this
issue. All players will receive a fix to this problem in an upcoming
patch, which will be automatically downloaded and installed when
released.

We appreciate your help and patience in resolving this problem, and hope
you continue to enjoy your time spent in Pirates of the Caribbean
Online!

Thank you,

Dessira

They appear to be updating the game tonight, rather than just random maintenance.
Hope its the boss battle? o.O

Black Beard the Pillaging 01-18-2008 01:39 PM

well im not at the boss battle but i looked at the start date of this thread and its a long time for disney to fix a few glitches. they're probably making a whole new story chapter and making the battle more hard

Alexy13423 01-18-2008 03:24 PM

They didn't.
That stinks.
