So - how about we move this thread towards possible upgrades we would like to see in the game? How about a voice server? I miss not being able to talk when in battle. I used to use TS for my other online game, but the push to talk function doesnt work with potco. Definitely a customise your ship option would be nice.

Along with the bug fixes, and new quests (and something to actually do rather than the personal shopper quests)

Second - it is a Disney game - there was never gonna be any blood in it. Its based on a Humourous Pirate Movies based on a Dissney ride... of course it cartoonish. :D

But - there are other MMO Pirate games out there - and for the 'hard-core' gamer like yourself - maybe this should be the avenue you seek (I played some games for 5 years loving every second - others only a few weeks just because they didn't meet my expectations).

Good luck in whatever you decide :cards:

I never said there should be any nor do I care if it's in there. What I meant is that shooting someone is less bloody in real life than cutting someones head off or tearing out their guts with a sword. Also I dont play anymore now that I have maxed out my characters.

And now people are compliaing about not enough content to grind for 12 hours a day 7 days a week for months on end?

And I'm sorry, you wont find as much content in a Disney game that is based on a movie than if you were to say compare it to a game/lore that has been around for hmmm over 10 years now on the PC market.

Also, I think this game did what it tried to do quite well, and that was find a market and a nice spot for casual gamers, for the hardcore and the people that love the grind/indepth system of more;

kill x then goto y
goto x defeat 2 y's and then return

and so on and so on, fire up some PotBS.

I would like to point out this has very little to do with the movies.also This should have a higher rating because of the gambling and drinking. As I read on the internet Disney bribed the rating company to lower it.

Targ - You want hard core MMO go elsewhere. This was always gonna be aimed at kids and part time players. I had no illusions about that. And it has not really disappointed me.

As for guns not being bloody and gory, what world do you live in? You get shot, you bleed, you get gore.

Not as much as if your throat gets sliced open or if it tears into your stomach and you see your insides go to the outside while your dieing.Just to let you know im in the US Army i know what guns can do.They do alot less and is what i meant than swords.

Ok lets not go there. He is in an ALL VOLENTEER ARMY. He is doing it so u don't have to.

I do not agree with his opinions. But, lets just leave the whole military/war thing alone.......

I agree 100%. Some of the smartest people I have ever met are in the Army. That was a cheap shot. Even if the individual has trouble spelling and punctuating, that has nothing to do with his honorable sacrifice as a volunteer member of the army. A cheap shot indeed.

Thanks, Targ, for serving our the US Army! Guys, please. Look at yourselves - discussing whether a game rated E-12+ should have blood and more violence in it. And, worst of all, it's a Disney game! You'll never get your blood and violence in a Disney game - if you want that, play a playstation game.

We cant type our names, you think they'll give us a means of 'saying' them? They would have little or no ability to police voice chat other than individual complaints/reports, and then there would be little or no proof to move against anyone breaking the rules.

Although im all for it, the likelyhood of this seems to be in the "never going to happen" category.

Absolutely, thanks to Targ, and all those that serve our country.

Furthermore, anyone that knows anything about firearms, knows that a bullet hole is much smaller, and likely to bleed much less than a slash to the midsection from a sword, which was what these INTELLIGENT army guys were trying to convey.

To bring things back to focus here.......
I think we're paying Disney ten bucks a month to be beta testers.
I wouldn't be half suprised if the game quietly disappeared one day and we all got emails thanking us for playing.

But I'll give it until july first before I end my subscription.

dangerousden 04-24-2008 09:57 AM

Can I just jump in here and say I highly admire how you US people get behind your Armed Forces. I only wish more people in the UK would be so admirable about our Ladies and Gents putting their lives at risk in some country just because they have been asked to.

I hope I did not come across as attacking Targ personally (It doesn't read that way) just disagreeing with his point about guns and no blood. I do agree with his clearing up the fact that guns do less damage than hacking someone with a sword. But it is a game aimed at kids and I see more blood in my Seafight.com game when I harpoon a sea monster.

Enough off topic mumbling - I agree that we may be in the second phases of beta testing. there are still issues. I get a bit fed up of seeing people running out in front of my cannon and jumping on to other boats.

Interesting point about the gambling and drinking. They dont actually show your pirate drinking anything but there are a lot of references to Rum (see Gunner quest lol) and how many times do we have to gamble for someone to finish a quest. Not good training for a new generation.

Occupational training to become a "Personal Shopper", just what we all needed! The challenge? Finding what you need.. not much more. No need to use your brain, find it, and hack it with a click click click, then return your groceries to the NPC your gathering them for.

I myself have 3 pirates, 2 with quest finished (lvl 32 & 40), and another level 25 with almost no questing (12% of story quest finished), and is only having fun with the weapons (he wants to be a pirate, not a personal shopper).

I think the game has potential simply from its subject matter, and the product line it came from (the POTC movies). I fear disney is complacent due to biased reviews we constantly see. (cmon best game, etc???? do the reviewers actually PLAY the games?)

I would like to see more, is POTCO dieing? I think the assessment of the running of TV advertisements, 1000's of signups... not paying, maxing thier basic pirates, and then dropping it, likely does explain a lot. There are several that got tired of the monotony of limited activities once they achived Pirate Mastery, or even simply completed the boss battle which I was happy with, but many were disappointed with.

I have not played WOW but have read about it, and have friends that have played it and there is apparently a plethora of content to keep a gamer busy, allowing them to change things up and keep busy even if they've maxed thier character.
Quests that require teamwork, etc..

ALL the quests in potco are just grocery lists like I mentioned before.

As for the target of the casual gamer, they need to find a happy medium to keep the regular gamers happy to. Unless thier object is to not profit or make money from the venture (I GUARANTEE YOU THEY WANT A PROFIT), they need to accomodate the regular gamers also, because the big dollars... are in this gaming group, not the casuals.

Looking forwad to the spring/april updates coming this summer, and the summer updates likely coming this fall/winter (snicker).

ALL the quests in potco are just grocery lists like I mentioned before.

YES! i hate that all you is people dirty work

Jack needs to get the black pearl back and get a crew but he is to lazy so he asks gibbs

gibbs is still too busy and asks you

various people are also too busy and ask you to do MORE!

so u end up basically like u say grocery shopping for all these people and when i play the quests i dont feel like im part of them i feel just like a mere person doing someone elses work
