Well put lost. Last night while I was working on leveling Jack Jr. with my guild mates, you wouldn't believe the rudeness of some of the other low level pirates and BASICs demanding that we heal them because they couldn't handle the heat in Beckett's Quarry.

We just simply ignored them and just went about our business. Disney needs to focus more on the rudeness of demands for heal and revive.

Like I said previously, if we used the fallen pirates tonic than I have no problem wasting one of theirs to revive them because they fail to realize they are not as strong as they think they are.

I agree, but it is obvious that Disney is unconcerned about the retention of established accounts. If most of the changes seem designed to attract new players, it's because Disney has decided that is where the money is.

As with any computer game, there is an expected fall off of interest as time passes. I am sure Disney keeps meticulous records about account start and end dates, and I'm sure they do studies to determine where to spend their development dollars.

That's a great point Roger, I am sure Disney will not do much until POTC 4 comes out. Then we will see an influx of new people again and maybe old.

Right now it seems we are in a stalemate.

It's quite obvious that there is many disagreements over this particular subject, but as the saying goes: "Take what ya can, give nothing back." Disney introduced this system as a helpful feature to all players to give them a little aid when leveling. The enemies now at Tormenta have been raised an extra 10 Lvl's in notoriety, no? This will now be a more extremely difficult place to level or quest, but not just for Tormenta.

While leveling my second character, I was given quests that almost seemed like it was for a Lv30+ such as killing Urchinfists, Seabeards, Brinescum, etc. I find the revive system a very useful tool, for example. If you're questing on Outcast, Tormenta, or Las Pulgas (the annoying and difficult places to get to) and you get defeated along the way (on land) - someone in guild per say can come to tp and revive you without having the trouble to travel all the way back to where you were.

All in all, everyone has a right to their opinion, but there's just one thing I'd like to point out. Please be grateful for these additions. How would you feel if you've spent months and weeks on creating something you poured your heart into, and then be mocked and criticized for it? The Disney staff does put alot of their time and hard work to keep up with our selfish demands for new content, the only thing really is you need to be patient.

My patience is costing about $10 a month. And I doubt 'tonic' took them months and months - if it did, that's pretty pitiful.

Ill maintain - Disney needs to focus. World of Warcraft keeps players interested. Large maps, many enemies, many weapons, a trading system, etc. The money IS in the longterm players. Disney just thinks its easier to put less work in, and keep the new people interested till they max out - then they run the same old ads and bring in a new influx of newbies. IMO Thats where their money goes.

You do have the option to play other games you know if you're interested in "investing wisely." But also consider that WoW has been out longer, along with many other games. And - keep in mind that starting out in 2007 up to now, there have been alot of changes that many of you enjoy everyday such as the parlors, salons, tailors, privateering, etc.

I've been playing for a year and a half, and the only "new" thing there is SvS (which I don't do...).

The fact of the matter is, we were told there'd be updates, and either our definition of what constitutes a real update is vastly different than Disney's, or they simply did not deliver.

combatlizzy 08-20-2009 06:27 PM

But remember it only uses your lowest tonic...Oh wait a minnute...Hmm...I don't use low tonics...<<sigh>>
If you go to Fort Charles on a busy server...which is where I go to help new pirates..it looks like a hospital ward with all the bodies strewn across the ground! I'm sorry, I like to help, but not gonna spend my shiney on tonics to keep reviving the same pirates over & over again. I like revive to help pirates in trouble when they need it. But, now it seems like all low levels are going after Mercenaries! Did no one inform them that they have to level up a little more slowly???? You can't fight a tank with a butter knife...

Aliese 08-20-2009 06:38 PM

Encouraging low level pirates to attack enemies they can't handle on their own/encouraging high level pirates to help low level pirates that attack enemies they can't handle on their own is just silly.

Now, if someone asks for help before the fight, and another pirate agrees, then having the supposed helper not help if something happens is kind of mean, IMO. But no one should expect to be saved if they do something reckless just because someone else happens to be standing there.

Jack Sunskull 08-20-2009 06:48 PM

That's OK Disney just announced an addition to the Revive system, it is called the Run out of Gold option. It will allow pirates to ask for gold when they run out of tonics after being revived one too many times.

Look for the Grog Blog update that states have you run out of gold because you have wasted money on the new revive. Beware of pirates saying they will give you gold to help obtain new tonics, but then turn their backs on you. If you have ever experienced this, tell us about.

The Skirata Clan 08-20-2009 07:16 PM

Maybe if by saving you get some Rep. This may encourage other higher level pirates to help the reckless younglings. Or gold as a repayment for the help. Regardless of crew/guild/friend status.

Jack Sunskull 08-20-2009 07:21 PM

I ban TSC for.... oh wait wrong thread. That would be cool you help revive them and if they defeat their enemy/enemies you get some gold for reviving them.

Will Turner: "You didn't beat me. You ignored the rules of engagement. In a fair fight, I'd kill you."
Jack Sparrow: "That's not much incentive for me to fight fair, then, is it?"

POTCO needs to review the movies on which they are based!
:laughks2:

I COULD play other games, but I don't. Pirates has tons of potential. Its Disney thats at fault - and your attitude of 'play other games' is EXACTLY whats happening!

Geez... some people just don't get it. They need to worry about long term playability OVER new members. Or, they will leave as well.

Crim 08-20-2009 08:38 PM

I've been playing Pirates for almost two years now, and I began only a few months after its release. Personally, I'd rather play with new members who are ecstatic and looking for adventure than old ones complaining about how terrible the game is. I was only pointing out if you don't want to waste your money playing a game that isn't worth it, you don't have to play it.

All players have an affect on Disney, and to say that Disney is to blame is selfish. Members who violated their terms of use by swearing and cursing introduced the Auto-ban feature; members who used linked accounts to get out of suspensions got them disabled. Disney has to ensure the welfare of all players, believe it or not - regardless of age. You KNOW new content is coming and on the way, then why demand more? As Nelly said this game does have potential and I see it, for example Roxanna beginning the Brethren Court and equal opportunity for all guilds who participate. Black Bart's Krewe retaining a true piracy mood within their guild. It's things like this that prove to me there's potential within the game, but the "wasted potential" I see is when newcomers join to insult and bash people for new reason using today's slang.

PvPing and Privateering have changed dramatically. People now jump with the usual Blades Only, No Tonics. Privateering is now using clever tricks to sink the enemies quicker. Pirates Online, in a way, had gone down hill, but it's the job of the players who began the game off to its start to retain that Pirate Mood.
