Anyways, the Abandon ship idea is one of the best I have heard so far.

ok i think they should put into the game where you can be able to go to the dingy and pick and island to take the dingy to that island but of course it is just a loading screen but you get the picture right

Countainer7b 01-17-2011 05:04 AM

good idea but... what if they basically added the dingy as a ship that can be launched as a ship with a cannon up front that can be used to ether attack another ship or escape as the ship is sinking which would take a minuet or two. also the dingy needs to have a max speed of at least 8 knots. (it would make the sotl viable in svs) but for the purpose balancing it's power make it sink after 5:00 if the sotl sinks witch is plenty of time to get back to a near by island or to another sotl. also when the ship is sinking (there would be a count down) and when on a dingy after the sotl sinks you can't tp of the ship/dingy.

From what I heard, the SOTL is coming soon, maybe as early as April or May. :ship:

I dont think the SOTL will own in svs (unless they raise it's LP). Being such a huge ship, it makes it an easier target to hit then even a War Galleon (which is pretty easy to hit already). And also many War Sloops have some mad gunners. My war frigate, with max LP and hull shield, was sunk in svs bar a war sloop in 3 seconds (didnt even have time to hit cover) If we extrapolate that, a SOTL have twice the LP, so should take some 6 seconds to sink.

I was wondering myself if they hacked, so I did some calculations (didnt have a piece of paper with me, so just going to type ot on here lol.
Average Fury hits around 500-600/hit (provided hull shield is down and that I remember correctly). A ram with fury boosts can boost that to around 700. 3 shots per load and 4 gunners. 700x3x4 = 8400 / around 2 seconds to fire. 20000/4200 = 4.7 seconds.
In other words, it takes 4.7 seconds for a War sloop with 4 max fury gunners to sink SOTL.. lol

I have a war galleon and every time I svs I get sunk but LIGHT sloops with fury gunners in like 5 seconds...

It wouldn't happen that way because a ship of the line has very powerful hull panels. In other words, it would take you quite a while just to wear down the shield.

Like Mason said, you very much underestimated the hull panel strength. If taking down a Ship of the Line in SVS were this easy, no one would have a problem with a Fleet Ship of the Line, which has the same amount of hull panel strength (or close to it). Not saying that the HP is the same, though....

My estimation, though, is that it would take a whole 125 Rank 5 Fury Shots and then some to take down a whole Ship of the Line panel. But I've never had the chance to test this. But knowing what a Fleet Ship of the Line's hull panels are like, I'd say that's a half-decent estimation... You can work along from there.

Mason 04-26-2011 01:57 PM

To give you an idea, to break through the hull panels, you'd have to go out of your way to only fire on one side of the ship. Otherwise, it would be very difficult to break through the panels before the ship sunk (which would still take a while).

When?

When is it coming out? And i think the abandon ship idea is splendid. :piratear: :SkullBullet1:

Tobias Daggercrash 04-27-2011 02:36 AM

The SOTL rules in svs, believe me. I have been on Outlaw's SOTl for about a hour or 2, and god the hp is nearly dead but the hull panels are nearly full. they should increase the hp.
