You see, it is not our fault the lag in the game ruins PvP even now. Jumping would have been fine for everybody if the PvP lag weren't so horribly.

Broadsword is a good weapon and all, but I feel as if in PvP it should be bumped down due to insta hit. If any enemy is around you you're going to hit them.

Dolls are complete maggots, you just run and press buttons. While with jumping you have to adjust your mouse and move around which takes a grand amount of skill.

From your post, it seems you only justify jumping around an enemy and hacking at them.

You don't like dolls, using a broadsword, or silver freeze to stop an enemy. Silver freeze is something you earn, so not using it in PVP seems... silly. If it took me two days worth of gameplay to earn, I'm going to use it on you.

Really, if all there is to PVP is jumping around an enemy and hacking at them, knowing very well they can't use a mouse to turn fast like you... then you shouldn't be surprised when they pull out a broadsword or blunder buss to own you.

Now don't get me wrong, I like that people can enjoy the Silver freeze and all, but it still seems cheap, and feel sort of like breaking a code. I dunno if you guys are like me, but I enjoy matches with good clean fighting and very little dolls and weapons like broadswords. i will admit I do use a doll, but I do not use the abilities such as life drain and grave shackles to get away from my enemies. I have friendly matches and keep my word.

Back before these weapons and the legendary skills I thought PvP had hope for this system. I had an idea where we could choose from a list of matches that were set up by other players based on whether they wanted Tonics. As well as what weapons could be used. I thought this up, and realized it would never happen so Mad V and myself made up our own PvP guild and decided to rank up based on pure rules without dolls and items such as tonics. We had a good time and enjoyed the clean fun. Sure I wanted to use the doll more than I did, but I knew it wouldn't be smiled upon, and thus I guess this is why I don't like dolls now.

Silver Freeze just seems like a cheap version of Grave shackles to me. You can't do anything, but I noticed that we pirates can reduce how long shrapnel keeps us stunned and how much damage it is. I just thought certain skills such as that could be added into the game to give us PvPer's more ways to fight and more of an upper hand in some area.

As for the jumping thing, I can justify that lag is the only true problem because I have played myself in PvP, and by monitoring both character multiple times at multiple angle I can easy tell the game is off by 3 seconds. For certain computers I also noticed a 5 second delay, so it is not at all good for PvP.

I guess what I really want will not be happening soon. What I vision are more and more types of PvP. I want to see a Classic PvP where you can only use up to the level 25 weapon quest weapons. I would love to choose which type of weapons were available(maybe choose certain skills to ban to keep things fair to where both people can enjoy their fight), or if we could use tonics. But I'm probably asking this just like I would be asking to allow my pirate to be drunk on rum and able to fall on my face every 5 feet I walked.

I love how "this is the players game" seeing as how all I have seen that I requested were a few islands, 2 were the SvS islands, which I love SvS, but islands were practically useless. Then you have the Raven's cove filled with Ghosts.... Which aren't exactly my favorite enemy, seeing as ghosts were sort of a 50's thing that everybody thought was cool back then. Then it is time for the Badge system, a decent addition, sadly i have yet to test it more because POTCO is having their Christmas party or something. Then the weapons system, which really, I don't mind not having the legendaries, I just feel like their should be accomplishment weapons. Sure there aren't many thing to accomplish, or are there?

It would be easy to give weapon and XP rewards based on how man ships you sunk in a single outting, how many ships sunk total, what kind of ship sunk and how many you have sunk overall from that type of ship. How many times you went to jail, how many brigands you killed, how many skelly's you kill, how many overall enemies you have killed. How many time you have stunned an enemy, or maybe even how many kills you have earned with a doll. Hope you get my point. But I do wish there were more weapons with skills like Silver Freeze or captain's resolve. Maybe even an application gem. A single use gem that can add a certain skill based on what skill you earned through completing that trial(the skill would be a Rank 1 version of the skill if earned in an easy type or trial).

A system like this would take a bit of time to make, but let me be honest. it would definitely keep me in game, and it would give many founders/older players reason to come back and finally reach level 50.

God when will they open test

It's fine when people want to use blades only in PvP, but again, it's fair to use other weapons. That's just like using a different strategy in PvP, like you probably use jumping, maybe I want to get a shot off with my blunder, then attack up close with my dagger when they have reduced health.

Tiberius Fireskull 02-11-2011 03:11 AM

My comment for those who think something is "unfair" in PvP. Nothing is truly unfair. If you are so skilled and I am able to beat you because you can't counter it, then you are not skilled. If you are just that skilled, you should be able to beat me anyway. Honestly, I bet I could find a way to beat someone using a powerful broadsword if I practiced enough... although there is a point where something will become cowardly, mainly doll. That requires almost no skill to do, and is just irritating and cowardly.

SEAKING23 02-11-2011 03:30 AM

Its not cowardly when you have a way to counter it though.

Tiberius Fireskull 02-11-2011 04:23 AM

Its cowardly because they are too scared to get near you, and resort to hitting you from a distance. Its different with guns because they can get closer to you. With dolls, its almost impossible. If you have a jumper, you can beat them with a broadsword, but with doll cowards, you need to try to break their attunement, which isn't always too easy.

Roger Sharkshot 02-11-2011 10:56 PM

God still closed now it looks like they wont open until Monday or late tonight because Dev's don't work weekends man I wish they would just open it.

Captain Del 02-11-2011 11:07 PM

In my personal opinion is that Jumping is a strategy, more than anything.

Jumpers jump to prevent themselves from being hit by the enemy, while they are still able to damage their enemies. Sure, it may look ridiculous, but it does work - and it certainly can't be considered "cowardly." I mean, would you call avoiding a sword slash to the face cowardly? Unless you're Robocop, you would more than likely say "No, it isn't."

The general view towards jumpers by pirates is that all they do is gloat, cause drama, and sit around on Abassa, which is completely stereotypical. Jumping is simply a way to fight in PvP, not a lifestyle. I'm a jumper, after all, but would you consider me the type to run around on Abassa with the PvP glitch? I think not ;)

I'd also like to point out PvP requires no skill at all, period. Yes, you need coordination to know when to hit the right buttons, but thats it, really. I honestly don't consider anything that you might accomplish in a video game to require skill, but thats on a relative level. In the video game realm, however, what ever you can accomplish, you can accomplish with VIDEO GAME skill. It's still "skill," but it can't hold a candle to running a marathon, solving advanced math problems, or any of those real life challenges.

Now, let's all sit back, relax, and indulge our drinks with the little umbrellas as we wait
