(thats a play-on-words from Tobias' post... aww forget it - young people these days just dont get it LOL :D )

Ok, for my current guess - on POTCO, probably 13-19 average age - on FOF here - I'm thinking 21-35 average age... I find older people will post more confidently and often.

Thats my guesses for today :)

Not all of the top posters are older people.

My guild is 20's -40's with a couple older teens playing with us older than dirt people. I started playing game to help my 9 yr old daughter. She can't get past a certain level without being able to communicate fast, so she just keeps starting new pirates. So I'd say lots of younger ages in lower levels. Once you get past level 15 or so, I bet the age of player goes to older teens & up.
I used to try to spell correctly but realized that is was faster to communicate with game shorthand & misspellings. I'm a teacher but no one would know that by the way I spell in game, lol.

I want to thank all who responded

Wow! I feel much better now. There are quite a few players here my age even though the majority is obviously below that. There were some really good responses to the question here. I love the game and I love my guild but I do believe there is only one other adult, two counting my wife, in my guild as far as I know, but it is a great guild so I hang in there.

In fact there are probably four or five characters that keep me in the guild including Savs, Andrew, Ben, and perhaps Alex. were it not for them I would probably seek a guild with people more my age but my four characters, three really since my wife uses one of them most of the time, they have been in four or five guilds and this one is the best by far just because of Savs, Andrew and Benjamin.

Then again, just my opinion and I might be a little biased. :dancetl6:

I'm sure there are many other great guilds out there.

Unlike the younger folks, older people do not aspire to be top posters.

It amazes me how people apply so much importance to post count.

I can tell you exactly what it means in a single word ZERO!

However, if one were to count the actual words/content, and subtract use of smilies and odd sized text, the older posters would sail past the younger set by a mile.

You mean there is not an award for highest post count?

You mean that a higher post count does not equate to a higher "status"?

You mean I don't get the gold Rolex for retiring with the highest post count?

OK.

:)

Hey im sure someone will point out the nifty little "ribbon/award" graphic next to my name that is something regarding post count/activity etc. (Not even sure how/why I got it)

I had people pointing it out to me generally before I even realized it was there. Bears no significance to me, other than perhaps I need to go outside more. LOL

However... its alright, I dont mind those working on posting counts if they aspire to be at the top O a list. (as long as they make thier posts worthwhile) ;)

Rackat 09-23-2008 06:39 PM

well, i guess there is an award for more posts. LOL. First time I have seen that.

icemage 09-23-2008 07:40 PM

Most of the people in front of me in the points is because they have all their or most of their points from that per day section. But I rarely do smiley faces. I know you are not talking to me in general though.

beserker69 09-23-2008 09:43 PM

Someone asked my age today in guild talk and my reply was "Older than Tortuga"

Tuefenhandel 09-23-2008 10:10 PM

Since there has already been a Methusala reference..............

...............I am older than my teeth, and as young as my tongue.

(Bonus points for whomever can name the movie).

Ok I want you to read that again s-l-o-w-l-y.... I didn't say older people are top posters (in fact the top posters are in most cases count runners - who I love to look for and delete their 'I agree LOL' and 'I think that too' posts...) - its Spam - and against POF Rules and Guidelines... :)

I've topped the count 100% several times to drop again a week later... simply put if there are several interesting discussions going on I'll post along with them - otherwise if its just a week of 'LOL got ya!' - 'hahaha got ya back' then I just review for infraction and move on... do I ever wonder about the ribbon? Will it get me lots of money? Fame? Maybe a cookie? The answer to all of these is... NOPE.

Like Zep said - if ya want to be the top poster - get there with some REAL information - not flooding every post with 'blah blah blah' :D

---

As my prediction - my count still stands - POTCO players are a bit younger age level then the posters of POF (In my .02 worth :) )

SaintSarah Mcbain 09-24-2008 01:29 AM

Most of the pirates I run with have children. My children play this game as well and they love it. Them being on POTC is what got me into the game.

Keep rockin' in yer chairs mateys.

Actually, that's "As old as my tongue and slightly older than my teeth"

Miracle on 34th street, good old Kris ;)

Captain NightWolf 09-24-2008 06:36 PM

Heh...I actually enjoy reading this thread...gives a fun insight on how people are and what they're thinking...

Now, if you'll excuse me...I'm going to go hop in my '79 Ford LTD and pop in an 8 track of Bob Segar and the Silver Bullet Band... :sign0011:

Mercedes Swan 09-28-2008 04:02 AM

8 track? What in the world is that?! I'll keep to my '94 Ford Mustang with the CD player! ;) (Yes, I am a wise.... heh) I know what they are... just to young to have ever used them... I remember asking my dad once when I was really young why he had an Atari game when we didn't have an Atari... heh That said (Atari) you can assume how oldish I am.

ANYWAY.... What's the problem with saying what your age is, when your profile will say it?
