Find the rainbow, follow it till you get to the end. There you should find Seamus and the gold.

If your post was not intended as a St Pat's day joke, please ignore. :)

Nicholasfunstuff 03-17-2009 02:53 PM

I know I want to find him too!

ukebec 03-17-2009 04:00 PM

I've checked several servers, Tortuga and Port Royal, and haven't found him yet.

I'd be interested also to know if anyone can locate him.

sunebeaches 03-17-2009 04:05 PM

Is he only suppose to be in Port Royal? Or can he be found on any island?

StellaInTheSky 03-17-2009 04:35 PM

I woke up obscenely early today so I spent the morning running around looking for Shamus. Tried the first 3 'A' servers cause they seemed the most likely place, and tried PR, Cuba, Tortuga and Padres, in the shops and out-of-the-way places. Never saw the man. I'm assuming he'd be on one of the more popular servers but I don't know. =/

Nicholasfunstuff 03-17-2009 05:15 PM

How much money does he give you?

In both cases - no one really knows the answer (until someone finds him :D )

Now... logic would say that because Disney would want all players to be involved - chances are he'd be in PR or Tortuga (just like all the holiday quests - putting a guy on Padres - espically now with all the Big EITC in the way - havving a L2 pirate on a light sloop just wouldn't be fair ;) ). Also - in past contests, when GMs have handed out reward codes there have been numbers of 100, 500 or 1000 gold mentioned (does anyone from the GM Races in the past Toug Race have an answer?) - these might set a benchmark....

But if ya find him - be sure to post him! :D

Jacqueline 03-17-2009 05:26 PM

I checked every tavern on Abassa. No sign of Shamus.

Does anyone remember what to say when you find him? I forgot.

ukebec 03-17-2009 05:28 PM

This is just a random thought - but from 12-2 and 4-6 Pacific time the GMs are going to be in-game "celebrating in taverns and towns all over the Caribbean"...so would it be more likely that Shamus will wait until those times to make an appearance?

That is what im thinking too. From what I read this morn. on the POTCO site, he will double your gold when you say to him the following, "This is my lucky day Shamus."

Always a good idea to chek that out on the Pirates site.

:leprechaun:

Nicholasfunstuff 03-17-2009 06:58 PM

Could the party be at abassa? In kings arm?

ukebec 03-17-2009 07:49 PM

Thatch Roberts told a group on Port Royal that he was on the Barten server, Devil's Anvil.

BUT!!!

Only the 1st two who told him the phrase got gold!

He told us he was moving to Tortuga, same server. I found him in the tailor shop too late - he'd already heard the phrase from 2 there also.

He didn't give his next location, just said he'll be giving away gold all day.

swashbuckler II 03-17-2009 07:52 PM

Rofl 33 people viewing a thread.
Im guessing that he would be on a B server.
Edit: If some people do find him, Dont post the code he gives you until after saint pattys day if you do wanna share it

piratepeople9 03-17-2009 08:16 PM

Update : last seen on savada at about 4:20 eastern time.

Location is unknown.

GM said Savada , Port Royal roaming the town. He's there now in front of Tattoo Parlor. 3:05 CST

jason davy 03-17-2009 08:19 PM

What is the "secret phrase?" I forgot.....

Juliana Maria 03-17-2009 08:21 PM

"This be my lucky day Shamus!"

jason davy 03-17-2009 08:23 PM

Ahh that's it. Thank you very much. :)

swashbuckler II 03-17-2009 08:27 PM

Update: He was found on savada around 1:11 Pacific time PR near tattoo shop
Savada Tortuga 1:17 PM pacific

jason davy 03-17-2009 08:32 PM

Gotta be kidding me. If he's going to be switching not only locations, but servers too, then I have a thousand better ways to spend my afternoon.

Jack I 03-17-2009 08:36 PM

4:21 Port Royal Bridge - Santia

He's moving up the server list!

EDIT: Moved to Tortuga. Seems he's going up the oceans, stopping on both islands.

Sam Gunwreckee 03-17-2009 08:56 PM

Any updates?

I would rly appreciate it, ty :sthuh:

ukebec 03-17-2009 08:57 PM

I've lost him completely.

Jack I 03-17-2009 08:59 PM

As have I. Maybe I'll catch him during the next Tavern event.

NOTE: There do be a large mass of people on Sabona, Port Royal, but no leprechaun (besides me) to be found.

swashbuckler II 03-17-2009 09:00 PM

For short legs he runs fast, no offence jack

Well that stinks, I like Padres the way it is.

Anyway, I logged off the game for a bit. I can go sailing for 10 minutes and get 1k gold, so it's really not worth tirelessly searching for this guy.

I don't know if that's the amount he gives, but regardless... with the time I've already wasted searching, I guarantee I could plunder twice the gold I'd get from him.

I think it's more of the principle of finding him.

I think most pirates have an ample supply of gold, it always cool to meet a GM.

Aye, I do think it's more about the principle of finding him. But being a practical guy, and being low on gold, I'll just stick with plundering. :)

shamus is mean I found him, i said
Me: This be my lucky day!
Shamus: it be not
Shamus tps

Aaron McEagle 03-17-2009 09:20 PM

Well i found him 1st on port royal by the tatoo parlor. Though I was late he went again and i counted to ten like he said to and ran to find him. I found him in The grave digger pit first but forgot the lucky phrase so i didnt win.:stcry:

Better luck next time. And to all GOOD LUCK!

Excuse me swash. But did you find him first or was he even playing yet. And does any one know where to get hints from. Heard its in a bar but what server?

That's so mean lol.

Anyway, I think there are probably multiple Shamus O'Malleys online or it would be impossible.

Aaron McEagle 03-17-2009 09:30 PM

Got a screen shot but for got how to post it. Sorry mates.

I have concluded this. On every server in Port Royal he will be at the tatoo shop and then the through the tunnel by the gravediggers. Hope this helps!

Aaron McEagle 03-17-2009 10:19 PM

Oh nice plan Jack. Though.... What if he already visited your server?

Hmmm I took the screen shot at around 4 eastern.

Jack I 03-17-2009 10:31 PM

I've heard mention he's been on this server more than once, hoping I get lucky.

swashbuckler II 03-17-2009 10:39 PM

He was not an easy man to catch up with. I found him another server but he had tp'd before I had a chance to whisper, but I finally found him on the Fragilles server in PR, which I was able to obtain 1k in gold. :smiley57: He did only give gold to the first 2 that found him.

The purpose of finding Shamus was so we would get the code for his gold. If everyone had access to the code, then what was the point of chasing after him? The code for Shamus's gold is just that, Shamus's gold that he alone gave. Perhaps next year mate, you shall also earn your reward.

I don't believe it would matter anyway - all codes distributed up to this point have always been one-time-use codes... once the code is used it becomes marked in their database and that is it :)

swashbuckler II 03-19-2009 01:06 AM

That's what I was thinking.

I guess that's why he could only give out 2 or he would have to keep copying and pasting.

Nelly Darkpaine 03-19-2009 02:28 AM

Talk about a wild goose chase, and a serious let down for an event. Whats the point of GM events when there is no rhyme or reason to find appearances??

Its a nice thought, but personally, its downright silly. Theres just no point to it. You could waste an entire day seeking out a GM, or Shamus, but with no method to the appearances, its like finding a needle in a Haystack. I mean, multiply the number of servers times the two island spots they were making random appearances, and then try and find someone. Good luck.

I wish Disney would put the time into upgrades we can ALL enjoy, rather than an insane scavenger hunt with little benefits to the majority of players.

This was a serious let-down.

The Skirata Clan 03-19-2009 02:37 AM

wasn't the prize 1000 gold?

you could get that by plundering.

swashbuckler II 03-19-2009 02:42 AM

its 4k gold if you use it on all the characters. and how bout low levels?

I think you are missing the point - what makes it special is that not all pirates will get a chance to see Shamus - or get his gold. I agree that something we can all participate in is nice - but not everyone wins the lottery.

Its not about winning... its about an anticipated event that people can PARTICIPATE in. Im not worried about his gold - Im maxed - but it would be nice to know WHEN and WHERE the GM's will be, don't you think?

Rather than a silly advertised wild goose chase. Its not about winning, its about participating, and when you don't know where to find GMs, servers to search, or when/where to be INVOLVED, it makes it NOT fun for the majority of people in the game.

I could have cared less about the gold, but Id have liked to have seen some GM's or been able to know HOW to participate IF I wanted to.

I'll maintain - pretty bad event.

Disney was trying to do a find the Leprechaun kind of event - or so I think - and as many people that were looking for Shamus on St. Patricks day I would say that QUITE A FEW PARTICIPATED.

Telling us where Shamus was would take the fun out of it - to your comment of when and where - other GMs gave hints on where Shamus was, and lots of people found him pretty easily.

I don't think it was a great event but it wasn't as bad as stated- I saw tons of players talking about finding Shamus (I think there was only one - and a few Shamuses (or is it Shamus'?) could have better served the ton of players trying to find him). If I were Disney I would consider that mission accomplished.

Yes, this was a scavenger hunt which you are totally within your right not to enjoy - lots of other players including myself did.

But I do agree that I want to see more story quest and larger scales events that involve everyone - but I appreciate something unique like this every now and then too.

It appears that there are two seperate issues here: Where the GM's were for the general event, and where Shamus was.

In Nelly's point, the 'general' GMs should of indicated better locations on where to be found. It was not easy to locate them (they were not part of 'Shamus' and were supposed to provide general discussion). I agree with this as if it wasn't for several friends who located the occasional GM by random many would of missed them. Posting their location (such as the current event of sailing on "C" servers) should of been made more clear (or their timing be more accurate).

In Saltys point, Shams was the 'exception' GM, and his location was to be random. He obviously could not give away his location - for that was part of the adventure :D I was very unsucessful in locating him and maybe for future advice is limit the number of servers he is on during certain times (for example "B" servers between 2-3pm and "D" servers between 3-4pm

Nelly Darkpaine 03-23-2009 12:51 AM

I simply wanted to find ANY GM, not so much Shamus, but I think in BOTH cases, limiting or making designated server times would be helpful, and would certainly make things enjoyable.

Not all of us want to spend an entire holiday, or day even, online seeking out a needle in a haystack event, but WOULD like to participate. If a time, or place was set to see the host GM's, it would make it more 'user friendly'.

Ill still maintain that this was a poorly thought out event for many reasons - and I was certainly disappointed, as were many it seems. No gold or Shamus needed, but FINDING a GM would have been nice.

Ghostcannon 03-23-2009 12:51 PM

I didnt bother chasing Shamus...my banks are full.
