Custom Pirate Signature
 

Happy Easter everyone,

I have developed a dynamic signature that everyone can use on this site, on other sites, use it everywhere :)

You may think, what is dynamic?
Basically it is using the information that is stored in your details on this site to generate your signature. It uses your name, guild, levels and avatar from this site to generate itself.

To use it you need to find out your id and place it at the end of the following link:

Replace the 1 at the end of that with your user id to get access to your signature. eg. if your user id was 1234 then you would have a image link like:

How to get your user ID:

• Click on "Your Profile" in the User Control Panel or Quick Links dropdown
• Then look up at your address bar and taking the number after the bit that says &u=

Adding Image to signature:

• Select the image http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...nsertimage.gif button at the top of your edit Signature box and paste the link to your newly found custom signature :)

*NOTE if you don't use a custom avatar it doesn't show your avatar. Why not make a new avatar of your pirate and place it as your avatar :)

Well anyone can see it, but yes only people who have purchased the signature donation can have it SHOW in their signature.

After all you only get a place for your signature if you have purchased it ;)

You do not have to pay for the Dynamic Signature itself - but if you want it to appear automatically each time at the bottom of your posts that space is called the Signature Space and that you do have to pay for. :)

how do you make a costom avatar and could you do it step by step

Dynamic Avatars?
Awefully small image for any useful information to be conveyed ;) <shrug>


Create the image however you want to create the image, using your favorite image/screen/clipart. (it can only be 65x65 pixels and the overall filesize cannot exceed 87.9kb)

Go to your UserCp (user control panel)
Click "Edit Avatar" on left side.
Scroll down to option "Use Custom Avatar"
Put a dot in that option, and use option #2 "Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer " using the browse button to locate the image on your computer, and think click "Save Changes"

Walla! Custom avatar!

I think I may have a workaround so you can have your POF avatar (like mine) on ur sig. Save your avatar to your computer, Then reupload it again to POF and that should do it (I dont see why it wouldnt)

Since you don't have a signature subscription, you can't put it in your posts the way Nick shows. To add it though:

• Get your user ID (number at the end of link to your profile), yours is 17724

• Copy the code provided by Nick

• Replace the number with your user ID number, and place in an [img][/img] code

Then look up at your address bar, your user ID will be the number that says u=

You need to donate to the site to obtain the rights for a signature. It's how we generate money to keep the site online. We do offer a variety of subscriptions for donations which you can view by going to Paid Subscriptions

I still thinks its a stupid idea to pay for a signiture ugh is the anyway i can pay with a Ultimate Game Card or if there will be a new option for that i really think it would be a good idea. How else would you suggest that we generate donations to keep the site online? Frankly this way, we get donations to help pay for the large cost to keep the site online and you get something in return.

Sorry, we only go through paypal payments. You don't have to have a paypal account to obtain a subscription. Just a checking account or credit card.

Oooh, I like these siggies. Simple, but nice. I'm considering getting a signature subscription in the future. Although, for the picture on my signature, is there a way that I can make it different from my avatar? And yes, I do know how old this thread is. Here is what mine would look like:

There's currently no way to show any other image but your avatar in the custom signature, it's just the most convenient image to use on them as it is small, and the coding is set in place.

Yes, these signatures themselves are free; All you have to do is replace the number on the end of the link in the first post with your UserID, which can be found at the end of the link to your profile. This is what yours would look like:

To actually have the signature post itself to your posts, though, you will need to buy a signature subscription. They start at $1.66 a month, and all proceeds go to keeping PiratesOnlineForums.com and its sister sites up and running. Without help from our subscribers Nick would have a hard time paying the bills for maintaining all 7 of these sites and their domains. Depending on which subscription you took to apply your signature, you would also receive one of these awards.

You are also allowed to have a "fake signature", where you post the signature to the end of your posts yourself, but you have to maintain it and it still must follow our rules and policies.

Anything is a fake signature as long as it falls under our policies. You're welcome to use the signature from this thread or your example as a fake signature, no difference between what is and isn't allowed in a fake signature to a real one. However by purchasing a signature you're making it easier on yourself, the moderation staff, and helping to fund the site. :mickeypiratezd4:

That is one of our dynamic signatures, but it's only the direct link to it. To make it show as an image, you will need to wrap it in [IMG] tags. This can be done manually, or you can click this button on your post editor (http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...nsertimage.gif) and insert the link into the pop-up.

Well THAT is certainly interesting. I don't get why it didn't show.

I'm seeing the issue now. The link to visit your profile and the link to the actual dynamic signature are completely different. Not sure you meant to purposely do this, but you tried to use the link to your profile in the IMG tags in your previous post. The only part of your profile URL that you need for the signature to work is the number at the end of it. For example, the link to my profile is:

In this case, I would need to take the number 2653 and replace the 1 in the link on the first post. (Repeated here)

I've included the link to your actual dynamic signature in the code above. If you copy that and place it into the [IMG] tags, it should work properly. :xsmiley:

All you need to do to get this one is to take your user ID number (found at the end of the link to your profile) and add it to the end of this link:

Then all you need to do is place the new link you made in [IMG] tags. However, if you want a signature that is not our custom dynamic signature designed for POF, I would recommend a thread in Creative Coffers asking for some help. :xwink:

You do have to donate.

There are also some free ones though, like the ones up there that Pirate Guy and I have on our posts.

That Sig is free, however you do have to donate to properly display the sig in all posts.
