DW 250 Membership Party

We hit 250 members early in July. I waited to make sure the membership was stable above that point before planning a party.

NEXT Wednesday, August 5, Guild Night, a blowout extravaganza!

I haven't finalized all the arrangements yet, but plans are in the works for a few different events. Check back here for updates.

Bug 07-29-2009 03:32 PM

Yay!!! Sounds great Boss! I will be there with bells on :) BTW We do have the greatest Guild in the Game!!!! I really feel at home here with my DW Family.

Richard Ironskull 07-29-2009 04:42 PM

Alright I'm ready to do this thing!!!

Sarah 07-29-2009 05:52 PM

I think I see the gears turning...Can't wait to see what you're cookin up ;)

Basil Dreadflint 07-29-2009 06:04 PM

YOU WILL NEVER GUESS!!!!

Not in a million years will any of you figure out my newest DW guild game creation! Hint: It is presented by the Dueces Wild no rep players!

Richard Ironskull 07-29-2009 06:12 PM

I bet we are...

You are right, I have no idea.

lostmymarbles 07-29-2009 10:35 PM

lol.. the no rep players.... what have you got planned for us lvl 40's?

I love this guild.

Amelia Heartburn 07-30-2009 06:11 AM

Will have to make sure I hit the sack as soon as I get home from work that morning.
Can't miss this one!!!

Richard Ironskull 07-30-2009 05:21 PM

I know last night I said I couldn't make it to the party but turns out I should be able to. Yay!

...or maybe not. Grrr silly girlfriend! I'll keep you all posted.

Basil Dreadflint 07-30-2009 05:41 PM

You go with the girfriend, send Pants ingame. (We all know that Pants does all the work and levelling and such, anyways.)

OK, since I already posted this for the officers. Can't have anyone say I played favorites. Here is 2 of the 3 new games for next weeks Guild night/ 250 Member Party.

Ocean TAG!

Draw an imaginary circle from PR, Devil's Anvil, Tort, Driftwood, and back to PR.
ALL SHIPS MUST STAY INSIDE THIS CIRCLE.
One person is "IT", all the rest are runners.
The runners sail in Galls and Frigates. The "IT" sails a sloop.
The goal is for the "IT" to tag a runner by ramming into them.
As each runner is tagged, they switch to an “IT”, but the original “IT” remains. The new “IT” HELPS the original one to chase the remaining ships. (Preferably, the new “ITs” change to Sloop class vessels in order to help.) This continues until there is only one runner remaining, who is then declared the winner.
If a runner is sunk by an enemy ship, they immediately become "IT".

Variation:
Once a runner is tagged, the person who was tagged becomes “IT”. They switch to a sloop and have to tag someone else.
The person who did the tag, changes to a runner and has to sail a gall or frigate.
The runners cannot port, they must always sail.
The "IT" can port at any time, and set sail from either of the 2 islands.

Little Pirates!

This game involves the little pirates doing big things!
2 pirates to a team. Any level pirates up to level 20 are fine, but the smaller, probably the better, to an extent.
Each team will have to defeat enemies much bigger than they are. The biggest difference wins.

Let's say a level 12 and a level 14 team up. Their average level is 12 + 14 = 26 / 2 = 13. They take on a level 24, and win.
24 enemy - 13 average pirate level = 11 difference points.

Next example, a level 6 and a level 9 take on a level 20 enemy and win. Their average level is 6 + 9 = 15 / 2 = 7.5
20 enemy - 7.5 average pirate level = 12.5 difference points.

The contest will run for 15 minutes. You get credit for every enemy you defeat.
Call out each enemy as you defeat them.
If either teammate goes to jail, that enemy doesn't count, even if the other teammate beats the enemy.
No screenies are required, but we do expect everyone to be honest.

No pirates above level 20 will be allowed to enter. (Level 20 is acceptable.) This prevents a level 40 and a level 2 from teaming up, averaging 21 and the level 40 goes and defeats all level 40's all by themself.

Richard Ironskull 07-30-2009 05:56 PM

Haha, these sound great.

I'm excited to do this. Hopefully I'll be able to make it.

I have a fast sloop, so maybe I'll volunteer to be the first IT.

Also, I think I might create another map for people to use as reference for the tag circle and publish it in this thread tonight. I'll let you look at it Basil to see if I have the circle about right.

JM Ohara 07-30-2009 06:13 PM

Oh this sounds great!! I have 2 pirates at 12 and 11. By that time my 30 days will be up. (Four weeks to the day today in fact.) and I can bring in my really new baby, Doc Hardy, who is as yet only a 5. Can't wait to do the ships tag. Oh man I love being a DW!

Basil Dreadflint 07-31-2009 03:15 PM

As we get closer to the party, I would like to try to put some oragnization into it. (Just a little. Gotta be OCD, guild requirement.) This will be one of our biggest events since Scavenger Hunt 3, so it does need a little bit of timing.

First, we will try to start around 8 Eastern. Ya, I know, That's even early for me.

We can run one or two times through the Little Pirates game, since it is timed at 15 minutes. Start planning out your teams, 2 per team. (This is the only game of the evening where anyone will earn any rep!)

Then, I have a another new game, presented by the No Rep Players. Not telling anyone just yet, other than Sarah and Kelly, since they are judges. Trust me on this one, it will either be a total blast, or else a total bomb. We will start this one at 9PM, and it should be over about 9:45.

Then we can play Ocean Tag. (Another No Rep Players presentation.) Richard is making a map of the play zone, and should have it posted soon. (Thanks Richard!)

More info will be posted as we get nearer to Guild Night.

Bug 07-31-2009 08:24 PM

This sounds so fun! Hey even if the secret game bombs it will still be fun with a bunch of crazy rum soaked pirates playing!! Nothing but fun with my guildies!!

Insolent Mine Guild 07-31-2009 08:54 PM

Have fun and Grats Deuces!

TDSChristy 08-01-2009 12:31 AM

I can't wait. Hopefully I will get off work before the festivities end. .)

captain rainbow 08-01-2009 10:35 PM

will try my darnedest to be there. sounds like big fun!!

Bug 08-02-2009 07:18 PM

Wicked at Not 17 needs a partner or EK suggested I should be a moderator. I am up for whatever works Bas, just let me know. Pixies love to help you know lol!

Basil Dreadflint 08-02-2009 10:05 PM

For Baby Pirates game:

Post your teams up here, or just post your pirates name and level, and you can team up. If you are not sure if you will make it ingame in time, but you just show up, you can team up then.

JM Ohara 08-02-2009 10:59 PM

Doc Hardy and Tunderkiss D'Moon are teamed up. At the moment I think we are both 7s though that might change.

This really is gonna be fun, Doc's first in game with the DW's. Little dude never even got his dirt yet. LOL.

lostmymarbles 08-03-2009 03:48 AM

If I'm able I'll play my Lyta.

Aliese 08-03-2009 02:53 PM

I'll be on Cass who is, I think, level 12. :)

Jessica 08-03-2009 05:15 PM

I can be a mod. My wee pirates still have double rep on them.

Sarah 08-03-2009 06:12 PM

All my wee pirates do as well Jess, but I gotta break out one of them ;) We'll be killing something anyways. I'm going to offer up Jeanne. Level Five, only cutlas and pistol, hasn't even seen Jack yet ;)

Who's feeling Daring?

Basil Dreadflint 08-03-2009 06:16 PM

MAc still has some double rep time, too. But I plan to try to use that in order to get the doll and reach level with it for heal. Not going to be much help to a partner if I can't heal them.

Basil Dreadflint 08-04-2009 12:28 PM

I think some of you are confused about tomorrow night!

The only game where you need to play a low level pirate is the first one, "Baby Pirates". There, the pirates must be level 20 or less. This goes from about 8PM til 9PM. During this game, you will earn rep. Teams of 2, try to kill as many enemies as you can, but higher level than you are, and score points for doing so. No referees needed.

The other two games, the secret one at 9PM and the Ocean Tag game at about 9:45, you can use any pirate level you want. These are the "No Rep" games.

The secret game I have Sarah and Kelly as the referees, and me of course. Tag doesn't need a referee.

NOW, post your team for Baby Pirates, or post your pirate so someone can team up with you. This is the only game where these teams will work together. This will be for land based enemies only. Each time we play will be about 15 minutes.

I post Mac. He is level 11, Cutlass 4, Pistol 5, Doll 5 and can't TP anywhere, only has a light sloop. Available to team with anyone who wants him.

Sven Niscadae 08-04-2009 06:10 PM

I'm probably not going to make it to the first event as I won't be home with the kiddos until almost 9ish. I should be able to log in for the other 2 events.

Sarah 08-04-2009 07:33 PM

Still bringing Jeanne for the baby pirate challenge, but she got her doll...and level six I think. May try to work her up so she has heal, we shall see ;)

Bug, got your message, be glad to die...er...fight with ya ;)

Hey, maybe we can move up our stats on times to jail! LOL

Bug 08-04-2009 10:11 PM

Yay Sarah, Wicked will be there for our playdate :)

(stocking all jails with extra rum for tonight)

JM Ohara 08-04-2009 11:38 PM

Speaking of rum, tomorrow night is on Charlotte and me, we've been saving the, um.. gift from Carver for this. I did promise Blue his own so I think I'll be going to get another few barrels tonight.:buds:

Cheesethrower 08-05-2009 02:16 AM

Blue will try and be there by 2100 EST. I have rehearsal at 1300 HST/1900 EST. Can't wait for Big Blue to get to do something productive again!

Bug 08-05-2009 04:24 AM

I made a new baby Pirate!! Her name is Lady Bug :) Probably bring her tomorrow night to play with Jeanne!

Amelia Heartburn 08-05-2009 07:26 AM

I have brought Morgan Bartholomew to the Guild, he will try to be there at 8:00PM EST.

Thanks

Basil Dreadflint 08-05-2009 01:22 PM

Schedule of events for tonight:
(All times in Eastern, and approximate.)

8PM Baby Pirates game(s) Level 20 and less pirates/
Each game should take about 15 - 20 minutes, might get 2 or 3 sets in.
9PM Special new game. Any level pirate. I'll need everyone to pay attention for a few minutes while I explain and we get set up. Should take about 45 minutes total.
9:45 - 10PM Ocean Tag. Any level pirates. Prefer that each player has a sloop class AND a Frigate OR Galleon class ship. No idea how long it will take, I'm sure it will depend on how many of us there are.

For rules on Baby Pirates and Ocean Tag games, see the earlier posts in this thread. I'll explain the other game once we are ready to play it.

Teams for Baby Pirates Games.

Doc Hardy (Hawke) and Thunderkiss D'Moon (TK)
Jeanne (Sarah) and ?Wicked? ?Lady Bug?(Bug)
Lyta (Kelly ) and Mac (Basil)
Cass (Piper) and Corneo (Jess)

People who have posted, but not teamed up yet.

Anyone else?

Crazypirate 08-05-2009 01:48 PM

Start a basic and get him up a couple levels! LOL

Piper is using Cass, and she's a basic.

lostmymarbles 08-05-2009 03:11 PM

Bas...you want to team up?

Lyta is lvl 11-12 with weapons at lvl 4-6. She has heal on her doll.

Basil Dreadflint 08-05-2009 03:16 PM

Sounds like a good match , Kelly. They are about dead equal. I'll update the teams listings.

Jessica 08-05-2009 03:21 PM

I totally forgot about my basic pirates. Piper! I can always dust off Senor Corneo's castanets (castanets).

Basil Dreadflint 08-05-2009 03:23 PM

Ok, Cass and Corneo it is.

Bug 08-05-2009 03:31 PM

I am bringing a friend (Pixie) to hopefully join DW. We made baby pirates (Lady Bug) together last night so we could have one the same level. She has a Pixie Pirate at lvl 31 & is keeping her there but will start with her baby here. She is my bestest friend!! Can't wait to dirt her!!

Sarah 08-05-2009 03:54 PM

Bug is going with her new baby buddy tonight (and that's totally fine, sent you a pm bug), so that leaves Jeanne open again for pairing.

Bella 08-05-2009 05:23 PM

I might be dragging in late but I wouldn't miss something like this. Out of sight is not always out of mind....

I know this sounds bizarre, but D doesn't care how many IDs you have. :psmiley35: Member services has told me so on many occasions. In another life I was obsessed with Pixie Hollow, and in that obsession made an unheard of 14 IDs spread across 3 countries. Yes, I'm serious. :psmiley27: Those 14 IDs extend to all D games, including TT and Cars if I wanted, and also to Pirates.

My suggestion would be to go ahead and just make a basic ID. Then you can make your baby pirate, and still keep all the big guys. Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Little update, I'm taking Doc through one more doll level so he has double heal, that will put him at level 8. For the bigger games I'll switch out to Kat who has a regular sloop and 2 gallons.

Aliese 08-05-2009 06:21 PM

I'll be a little bit late for the first part (around 8:15 is my best guess), but as soon as I'm on, Jess and I are going to rock. Awesomely. :D

ETA: Yeah Trav - just get a basic going!

TDSChristy 08-05-2009 07:16 PM

So of course I get off work Monday and Tuesday super early... 11AM Hawaii time. Wouldn't you know that today I have to work until around 4 my time. Everybody cross your fingers that the bosses let those guys do their field day earlier, or I won't be on to 10 pm ish EST. Have fun. Can't wait to find out what the mystery game is. I am intrigued.

Basil Dreadflint 08-05-2009 07:22 PM

This job of your's is intefering with us getting our daily dose of Tandyland. What good is a season pass if the place isn't open? LOL.

JM Ohara 08-05-2009 11:13 PM

Okay, it's late to be asking but I am sooo confused. On the Little Pirates game is the idea to cause wanton wholesale destruction of everything in sight, or to pick a target considerably bigger than you and go for that? If you get credit for every kill where you don't land in jail, how does that work against a team who takes on something twice their level and wins?

Example

Team A takes say 8 enemies, but most are only 4 to 5 levels higher than them.

Team B takes on just two guys, both of which are double their level.

Assuming both teams are level 8 average, how does that go?

Amelia Heartburn 08-05-2009 11:58 PM

Morgan is awake and at Lv 6, he dies easily tho.

Richard Ironskull 08-06-2009 04:39 AM

I should apologize. I had agreed to make maps for the ship tag, but I got caught up in what I was doing, and forgot to finish them. Sorry about that.

I didn't make it to the party either, so sorry for that one too. Girlfriend was in and I wanted to spend time with her.

Anyways, I am sure everything was great. I won't be online until at least Friday evening.

Bug 08-06-2009 04:43 AM

Do we put our scores here for baby Pirates?
Lady Bug / 10 & Rachel / 8 = 18 = *9*
Round 1: 10, 12, 13, 13, 12, 14, 9, 14, 14, 10 / Total 33 pts, 10 kills. ( I count 31. Basil.)
Round 2: 11, 11, 12, 13, 10, 13, 9, 11, 10, 10, 14, 14, 14, 12, 11, 12, 9, 14 /Total 48 pts, 18 kills. ( agree with 48. Basil.)
Lots of fun!! Thanks Bas for a great 250 DW Party!!

Total = 79, by my count. Basil.) Edit!! I will go by your count Bas!!

Sven Niscadae 08-06-2009 11:23 AM

I missed the Baby Pirates event but was there for the Bumperboats! Nevermind what Sarah said in the screenie. It was supposed to be the other way around. LOL

http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/q...5_22-29-50.jpg

Thanks for the fun night, Basil! Can't wait to try the other SvS ship games you were talking about last night!

Basil Dreadflint 08-06-2009 12:49 PM

For those of you who STILL haven't figured out the scoring for the Baby Pirates game:
Lyta was level 12, Mac was level 11, which made their average 11.5.
The first round, we went to a BAD place and both ended up in jail, TWICE each. LOL. As such, we didn't get many kills. What we did get was 11, 13, 13, 13, 13, 14, 15, 15, 15. The 11 didn't count because it was less than our average. The 13's each gave us 1 1/2 points, the 14 2 1/2 points and the 15's 3 1/2 points each. 4 @ 1 1/2, 1 @ 2 1/2, and 3 @ 3 1/2. Total for first round = 19 points.
The second round, we did MUCH better, and got 3 level 18's, 2 level 17's and a bunch in the 13 to 15 range. (Better spot and no groggy's.) The second round, we got 61 points. So, our total was 80 points for the 2 rounds.

Does it make sense now?

Also, for Bumper Boats, here is the write up I made about it and how to play.

Bumper Boats!

When we were doing sailing lessons the other week, toward the end of the evening everyone got a little 'Duecy', and started sailing into each other and pushing each others ships around. That gave me an idea, how about combining DW favorite pasttime, AFK pushing, with sailing and SvS? And so, another DW original game: Bumper Boats!

How to play:

The guild is divided into 2 teams/crews.
Each crew is assigned to one of the SvS islands.
Each crew member sets sail in her/his own ship, any type, any size. (I changed this so that there had to be at least 2 sloop class ships on each team, and that once they were in position, they weren't allowed to sail. I figured it gave the teams 'targets' for which ships to push.)
Once you set sail, no going back to change your ship!
Everyone sails their ship to the starting zone. All French ships on one side, all Spanish ships on the other.
The two Judges will be set up alongsides two of the islands.
The starting zone is in the middle between the islands.
The first crew to PUSH an opposing team’s ship, any one of them, past the imaginary line between a judge and their island wins!
You CANNOT shoot each other! No sinking or damaging an opposing teams ships.

For the first try at this game, and since I have no idea how long it will take, we will use KingsHead and Cutthroat. The French island is Cut, the Spanish island is KH.
The starting zone will be halfway between the islands. The French will try to push a Spanish ship between the judge and KH. The Spanish will try to push a French ship between the judge and Cut.
If it goes fast, we can try a second time using the actual SvS islands. If it goes slow, we will call the game after 20 minutes, and whoever has an enemy ship closest to the finish line wins.

SO, it was a little hard to get everyone organized the first time, and in place, and to understand the rules, and a whole bunch of other problems, BUT, I think once it got started, everyone seemed to have a good time.

For both games.

Overall, another great guild night. But I would like some feedback. Do we keep these two games? Either or both. (And yes, I still have a couple of others, or variations of these two, in reserve.)

Don't sweat it Richard. We got a late start, and never even got to play Ocean Tag.
We'll save that for another time.

Thanks Basil, that was a riot! EDIT: HA we posted at the same time Basil. YES I vote keep the games! I'd like to be a pusher in the next one ;)

Post your baby pirate fight numbers here when you can.

Bumperboats was a BLAST! Sorry for the confusion at first...

From My View:

And no one thought all that ramming would actually sink someone...OOPS!

I loved the Bumper Boats it should definately be added to the rotation!

Basil Dreadflint 08-06-2009 01:22 PM

Forgot to add this earlier:

Congratulations to all of you for reaching and PASSING the 250 membership mark!

Last night was a lot of fun! Just wait to see what I have in mind for the 300 party!

Aliese 08-06-2009 03:05 PM

Here are Jess and my scores:

Round 1: 16, 18

Round 2: 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 19, 15, 16, 16

For the scores, do we use what we started at, or what we were at the time we were killing? For the first round, we were 6 and 11. For the first three enemies of the second round, we were 6 and 12, and for the final enemies we were 7 and 12...

If it's the former, then the first round would be 17, and the second round would be...68.5?

If it's by the levels we were at the start of the enemy, it'd be 17 and...61? Meh, it's too early for math. :tongue8:

Bug 08-06-2009 03:15 PM

I just want to say Thank you Bas!!!! You come up with some awesome games, we provide the hilarious results!! I have a blast whether it is Guild night or just a bunch of us terrorizing the inhabitants of the Carribean!! It takes a lot of effort, imagination & teamwork to make a Guild run smoothly & have so darn much fun to boot! A big Huzzah for our leader & our Officers in Crime too!! Thats what you get for letting Pixies in the Guild :)

JM Ohara 08-06-2009 03:25 PM

Due to annoying in laws, I lost my internet connection during the Baby Pirates game. I still don't know what happened with TK. I do know she managed, the first time I dropped, to kill the rest of a crab by herself. How does that count for her, since through no fault of her own her partner wasn't even there?

Basil Dreadflint 08-06-2009 03:28 PM

It's a game!!!! (Use the levels you started at. If you glowed, that's just a bonus!) And how the heck were a 6 and an 11 taking out level 19's? GOOD JOB!!

Going to jail meant that you weren't using team work, so the enemy didn't count. Losing your internet was beyond your control, so any enemy the remaining partner was able to solo on, still counts.

We like to live dangerously. :biggrin8:

It actually wasn't that bad, though. Between the two of us (and our dollies), the grunts were pretty overwhelmed.

Okay, so our total total is 85.5. I think.

JM Ohara 08-06-2009 04:48 PM

Bumper Boats, from the little sloop that got sunk.:laughks2: Still think that was hilarious. I totally forgot I was on a PvP ship and could repair.:mybadki6:

By my count, they only had you out gunned by about 15 cannons to 1. Fair odds for ANY Duece!

Looks like you all had a great time! Unfortunately real life reared its ugly head last night and I was busy most of the evening, so missed the games!

Love the screenies you all took though!
