Juggernaut Hunting

Okay, so I think I've seen more than my share of Juggernauts. In just 2 weeks I've seen, and sank 6 of them. I think I know where it hangs out. First I ran into it off Avaricia on my way to Kinghead. It respawned there and I sank the sucker again. (It was a 44 the first time and I sank it solo in my regular gallon without a scratch. No joke.) The other day I ran into it off KH again. Last night I found it off Outcast. Today I found it in Dead Man's Trough. It was a 45 this time.

Now people seem to not believe me when I say I brought down a 44 in a regular gallon cause at the time my sailing was like 13. I did do it. Today, I present the Juggernaut hunt. Yes, I went looking for it in my same gallon even though now I have a war galleon.

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2236

I took the Black Dragon

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2234

Tagged it with the very first shot

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2233

Stripped the sails

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2232

Pounded on it for a few minutes

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2231

And sent 'em to Davy Jones!
It never got a single shot off.

And I learned something. It seems to spawn off KH and Avaricia. Then it heads all the way around the edge of the world I think. As far as I can tell there is only 1 per server, but I might be wrong. I think though that it's like the Colossus Flagship. Anyway, for anyone who wants to try it, and test my theory, go for it. The Juggernauts give almost exclusive royals to me anyway. Happy hunting!!!

well me and my guild were out doing a gold run went to sink the juggernaut of outcast and it gave us a crate of wheat then i was alone sailing to kingshead on my other pirate and saw a juggernaut again sunk it and it gave me a crate of grog so the exclusive royals must be very uncommon

Dr. Zeppers 08-01-2009 06:35 PM

Congratulations, the Jugg can be a challenge as one gets the handle on their sailing.
Also note that although you were only level 13 sailing, your level 21 cannons which did most of the work disabling the Jugg. ;)

Im really curious as to why the Juggernaut is thought to be so rare, or that difficult.
I see it all the time and often have to avoid it in attacking other ships, and have often had to sink it just to make it safe to battle the other ships around it.
Did it with a light sloop once to prove it could be done.
It has alot of firepower, avoid it, and its just another piece of driftwood in a big pond.

I guess its just my... been playing the game for a year and a half savvy. hehe

Also as far as the plunder, you cant count on it. I've received that 1 crate from the Juggernauts, Colossus's, Behemoth's, etc. And i've gotten royals off of Bulwarks.
Its all random, the higher levels are of course programmed to usually give the higher valued rewards though. Treasuresense skill has alot to do with this as well.

JM Ohara 08-02-2009 12:14 AM

Perhaps I should clarify. As of today both my sailing and cannon are 21. It was the first time that it was lower. With cannon the only thing I ever do is strip the sails. Then I broadside the monsters till they sink. As for the royals, perhaps the 5 points in treasure sense is the reason for this.

toanuju22 08-02-2009 02:24 AM

well i can honestly say treasure scene maxed helps none what so ever

i was sailing with a guy who had it and out of every ship we sank

3: dreadnoughts
2 colossus
1 warlord
1 behemoth
1 man-o-war
2 corsairs
2 predators

and from each one of them we got a crate of wheat

ended up with 60 gold from a war frigate cause each ship only gave out a crate

The Skirata Clan 08-02-2009 02:25 AM

So are we going on a hunting trip or what?

In my experiences with all my pirates, Treasuresense works. However, I do have some observations as to how to get it to work/get the most out of it. Being a sailing skill, the sailor MUST have the treasuresense, and the sailor must take at least one shot of broadsides at the target. A pirate with treasuresense at cannon will have no effect. If ships are sunk entirely by the crew firing cannons, even with a sailor at helm with treasuresense it will not work, the sailor has to take part in the battle. Also treasuresense increases the possibility of getting better plunder, it does not make it automatic.

The Skirata Clan 08-02-2009 03:13 AM

I have gotten royal chests from those annoying light sloops. Treasure Sense is at max. It helps a lot.

Chris 08-02-2009 04:38 AM

I used to have treasure sense back when I needed money. Lately I just rebuilt my skills and put it all in sailing faster and turning quicker :D.

Anyway sweet! I remember when there used to be one Juggernaut out behind padres and when Warlords were all the rage.

lostmymarbles 08-02-2009 05:43 AM

I didn't really consider the Juggernauts rare. It's like any of the bigger ships, just need to know where to look for them. I do miss the massive amount of additional ones that we had prior to the island makeovers.

Eliza Creststeel 08-02-2009 06:30 AM

:bookishfj7:
Juggers weren't always rare... in fact when they had they EITC blockade around PDF during the island makeovers - there were several.

Its like they move them around, bring'em back, lose'em again. THEY ARE TOYING with us!!

:laughks2:

Stephen O'Malley 08-02-2009 09:53 AM

Before the updates, I was able to find a few Juggernaut around various places. If you ask me, the Juggernaut is way overrated and its the Behemoth that's to be concerned about. Although I will admit, you are incredibly lucky to find one of those beasts, I got no luck at all!

JM Ohara 08-02-2009 04:27 PM

Hehe, I'm not worried about any of the big ships. I've sank every big ship there is, with shocking regularity. It's how I got to sailing 15, by taking on the monsters in my Black Dragon Gallon. Behemoths aren't any big deal to me. I don't care for the Dreads, the little stinkers sometimes turn on you even after you strip the sails. And I abhor the skellies. It takes too many shots to strip their stronger masts and being frigate class the little pains nearly always turn on me. I'd rather take down the Behemoths and Colossus any day of the week than do the big skellies.

I dont think they are toying with us as much as they are making an attempt to change the ebb and flow of the NPC ship traffic I think. Along with their attempts to make this NPC ship traffic fit in with their lore/rpgs.

Your too close, or not doing enough damage before they get to close. :)

Before they changed the various shipping lanes, etc. The hinterseas, used to be full of phantoms. They were my favorite to level cannons on, because I could park and lure in phantom after phantom and at least until i hit the upper teens of cannon levels could get my 100 pts each. They always turn to their left :) I position my ship heading to my right, so I can sail the direction they turn. They start to turn, I run to helm, and finish them off :)

Amelia Heartburn 08-03-2009 08:23 AM

Kat, I wittnessed your cannon skills the other night and i personally AM a believer

It occurs to me that I didn't tell you guys how I sail. The day I became a DW I went sailing with Jess... I'd never seen anything like it! The very next day I set out to teach myself how it was done.

I get my ship absolutely no closer than the very edge of my compass. (When sailing alone. With a crew it's different, but I'm referring to alone.) When my target is at the very edge of my compass I tag it with Thunderbolt. The instant it's turned I hammer on it's sails till they are fully stripped. The skellies reinforced masts make this harder. Yet I do manage. With the sails fully stripped I go back to the wheel, turn my ship to a perfect T with my target, and broadside it to Davy Jones. Even with skellies I have to move in close to broadside range. It's not the distance Zep, it's the ship. I've had other DW's tell me the same thing, skellies are just prone to turning even if you do fully strip the sails before they turn. I find almost every time this happens, it's a Death Omen ship. Sometimes, only sometimes, other skellies do it. So I try to avoid Death Omens.

It occurs to me that you and I have never sailed together. I'm putting this out now, come watch me in action and you'll see what I mean. My ships are always open to friends, guild, and crew. Just come see Kat O'hara. I don't say this as a matter of bragging but a statement of fact. I am absolutly one of the best sailors I've seen. Once I learned my technique, I made it a high art. With the exceptions of spawning, I have been known to sink a full hold worth of ships with not one scratch on me. In case you wonder where I sail I always ply the waters between PDF, and Kingshead. Sailing alone I hunt 35+ exclusively. Sailing with crew 30+. My prime targets are Behemoths, Colossus, and Dreadnaughts. If I can see them Juggernauts. Nothing else is worth my time. Why bother with a Warlord? I can sink them too easy. I want a challenge. I'm waiting patiently for D to put out level 50 monster big ships. Great big huge suckers like the guy in the BB. I'll tear that to shreds too.

Please note, yes, I really am that good. There are guildmates I sail with regularly who will confirm this if you think I'm just exaggerating. I am a monster sinker. It's my specialty. Why else would I be a 30 with just 2 1/2 levels to mastering both cannon and sail but my other weapons aren't but inching 15? (Secpt grenades, them things are fun!) I dunno how this turned into a can I do it, but I hope by reading my technique, those of you who have never seen it done try it. I hope you too get out there monster ship hunting. Till then I'll be out in the Hinterseas, sinking the monsters...
:piratewheelgo2:

Sarah 08-03-2009 03:19 PM

No one is doubting you sailing ability Kat. I see nothing but positive replys here...

Glad to see another fearless sailor out there. The technique you described has woked for a lot of us since day one ;) Once you get it down, those monster ships really are fish in a barrel :piratewheelgo2:

Loot Hard!

Scoopahdoopah 10-03-2009 06:38 AM

Juggernaut LOL

I've sunk 6 so far within a week. They aren't very hard if you dodge the explosives, and they are usually found behind padres, behind isla perdida, or between kingshead and avarcia. and with 28 sailing and max treasure sense i usually get 2 -3 royals for sinking it

Buck Seahawk 10-03-2009 12:53 PM

When I sail near Padres, I see many Juggernauts. Not rare to me. Sometimes I don't see them, but I see them a lot when I sail and I sail rarely. Pretty much all the ships in the game aren't rare. Including the Dreadnaught and Death Omen.

JM Ohara 10-03-2009 05:33 PM

Yes, I've noticed that too. Since the last update I can almost always find the Juggernaut out in the little triangle between Padres, Kingshead and Avaricia. Usually more toward the KH Avaricia end of it. They tend to be nice big 44s and 45s. Not so rare now but still really fun to sink!

kageroumaru 10-27-2009 09:58 PM

Whats the point of a Sea Viper? The game needs a variety of ships, and thier abilities to defend themselves to keep it interesting.

Also, they reward good reps, and a challenge. Pirates are into the biggest profits, with the least amount of effort. hmmm Juggernaut here, or a collussus on other side of ocean.... Ill sink the Juggernaut. There was a day that the ships you also just referred to did not exist in the game, and the Juggy became quite popular. It still is to many of us old pirates.

And also a time they took the good ole Jugger out of the game, I, for one, am glad it's back ;)

Robmac7777 10-28-2009 04:06 PM

I love hunting for the Juggernaut. As far as sinking them, I've done distance successfully, as well as alongside at pistol shot range. And I did end up sinking to get this screenie, but thought it was so cool to see both of them so close together.

Captain Whale 10-28-2009 06:58 PM

Dr. Zepper's has the truth of it. Tis yer cannon skill that makes taking the big boys down easy. Get thier attention with a Thunder shot and strip the sails as they come in. Sittin ducks after that. Not so easy to take them with sailing alone though but can be done. The timing is crucial.

Thanks for the information on the Treasure Sense skill. That explains why it didn't always seem to work fer me. I was gettin off the wheel and using me cannon.

Captain Whale

kageroumaru 10-30-2009 07:05 PM

Juggernaughts are really hard to find.... I cannot for the life of me see one.. I've seen only one and that was about five months ago... i suck i guess

Captain Whale 10-30-2009 08:12 PM

We found one last night off of PDF and it respawned a few times. So you might try looking off PDF - turn left when you leave the dock and head that way. Good luck.

Aye, Captain Whale knows the in's and out's of the ocean better than any Swabby I've sailed with.

After you turn left out of PDF he's pretty far our there so don't get discouraged if you don't see him right away.

As you can see from my Avatar, I love Juggernauts, and know a lot about 'em.

Your theory is partly true. They do not sail in a complete circle, though, and there can sometimes be more than 1 Juggernaut in a server. Mostly, they're in quiet servers. You can occasionally find them in Ideal servers, but rarely in places like Abassa.

Also, they do respawn, occasionally, in the Uncharted Warers of where Behemoths, Death Omen, and other ships, appear. They will continue for a few moments, but eventually stop respawning.

Also, the treasure you get from them depends on the rank of Treasure Sense you have. I've gotten Royal Chests quite a lot from them, because my Treasure Sense is Rank 5.

So, Juggernauts are pretty good, and are fun to fight.

Edit: Fixed some of the things I said. Originally, I said them in a way I didn't mean to say it in.

kageroumaru 11-12-2009 07:11 PM

ooh oooh ooh... i jus remembered that when i was off isla perdida i saw 3 juggernauts at one time... can you explain how is this possible or why it happened?

Applegrl757 02-13-2010 03:51 AM

Found one by Cuba and Isla Perdida, it was very close to the islands... usually its farther out. Gave me too royal chests :) I have screen shots but I don't know how to post them to this thread... so go to my profile and search for my Juggernaut Hunting album :)

Occasionally, the Juggernauts, as well as any Death Omen and Behemoths that can be in that spot, will get a bit close to Cuba/Perdida. That's just natural, I guess...

Well Ever since the Padres Del Fuego EITC thing Juggys have been few in number. And its crazzy but Death O'mens have become more Populer xD. But Best Chance for finding them is Behind Padres All the way to Cuba. ( More comen In Uncharted waters ) Thats where I find them the most. If you guys need help with Finding ships I have a General Idea where they most ships are located so feel free to PM me. :Happy Hunting mates =D:

i cant seem to find the juggernaut anywhere

Matthew Sternrage 08-16-2010 03:49 AM

Its been a while since I heard the name Juggernaut. I remember my first sighting. When I was returning to Padres Del Fuego, I spotted an EITC War Frigate off the coast of PDF near Los Pulgas. I went and attacked it, with the help of two War Galleons when I was in a Regular Galleon. It was a great rush of sinking my first Juggernaut. Then before I knew it, I sunk tons and tons more. my first sighting was in Abassa, the rest in Quiet Servers.

Turns out:
In Ideal/Full Servers, the count of Juggernauts is slim to none as more undead are in invasions.
In Quiet Servers, they are greater in numbers to about two to 5, as less undead are in invasions.
Seems the Juggernaut is somehow linked to the Type of server, and enemy count. To increase your chances, go to a Quiet server.

Found this one near Tormenta. At Vachira ocean.

CarribeanThunder 08-16-2010 04:21 AM

The reason why they're so rare in more populated servers is because people sink them, simple as that :D

I found 7 in one night on Test - and you all know how quiet Test can be at night...

Tiberius Fireskull 08-16-2010 05:29 AM

Hard to find them, I went months without finding any, then found some recently. Both of them were in the Hinterseas. Thats where I find most of my high level ships. Behemoths and DO's are very common there. I think that Juggies spawn randomly at certain spots... probably the areas near the Hinterseas and Dead Man's Trough, as well as near Avaricia. I really wish they would make them a little more common... as they are the strongest ships in the game, going up to level 45.

The Skirata Clan 08-16-2010 06:01 AM

I see them very often too. I play at Quiet servers and see quite a few.

CaptainMonkeys 08-17-2010 01:02 PM

Dog Firestack 08-17-2010 01:03 PM

there's another way to to sink any kind of ship without taking any damage and not ever leaving the wheel, and so far i don't know any other pirate that knows how lol.i also think there are such things as boss ships too, because most of the time they just sail in a straight line toward you but in some cases they turn when they're not in range fire a broadside and within one second they've turned completely around and fire another i only encounter ships like that maybe 1/10 and it's any ship.for example i sink a behemoth that sailed right toward me never changing directions and i try to sink a different one and does as i explained before, doesn't matter how far or close it is.

Yesterday my crew and I traveled on my war sloop and non-stop juggers. AND you will not believe that I took out 16 in one ocean cause i had help from my friends telling me the best places!!!!

So cogratulations to me and i be there scared of me. Well i guess my job is done.

Wait you want he ocean in one ocean that i sank 1 is called Galaana, the other ocean is Navona.

You also want the placesi seached. 1 place where I sunk 6 is be hind padres, another in the charted waters area beyond outcast and tormenta, another place isarond in the back of cuba (which reminds me that juggernut i saw there was guarding a sea viper), another is beyond perdida, and the last place i found is in the charted waters, near the end.

Um. It doesn't take a genius to hit a ship with a lucky shot and repeatedly shoot the sails until they all fall off. I've sunk plenty of omens and the likethat way.

16 juggers! You and your friends sure do have the sea legs! :psmiley27:

Jibby 08-22-2010 02:43 AM

I got sunk by a juggy one time, it broadsided me with explosive. Ouch.

But another time I hit an EITC Marauder and got 3 royals from it, resulting in 200 gold from a single ship. :)

Dragoniteiscool 08-29-2010 05:56 AM

I find corsairs to be annoying because they always seem to appear right where I go. No matter how far away I get, they find me

Lady Violet 09-04-2010 06:58 PM

Im on the hunt for this big ship, and I have yet to see one. I will not give up though!

Sith kinght pirate 10-02-2010 10:33 PM

i finnally found 2 they other day 1 of them was near raven cove

melodizing 10-02-2010 11:03 PM

I tend to see a lot of Juggernauts behind and around Padres Del Fuego. I see them around Raven's Cove now that it's on Live as well, and in just the two days that it has been out I have seen 3.

Chimera Doll 10-02-2010 11:06 PM

Aye, I have seem them around the higher level islands such as Padres, Tormenta, and Outcast. Also, Raven's Cove.

Good luck finding them mates!

JM Ohara 10-02-2010 11:33 PM

There seem to be more lately than there used to be. Not sure why, but ok.

Not to brag, but i am to. ii am a monster with a war sloop. one of me favorite strategics is to pull along side the back, broad side, then i would turn so me other side faces them. they almost always keep going forward, so me and my gunners keep pounding it. this works the best with galleons, as they have a hard time turning:laugh:. i did this will that navy flagship that sails around out cast and tormenta. i sunk it with out a scratch to me ship. what i do with me war galleon is circle my victim at a long range, and hit them with broadsides. with the war frigate, i just stop in front of them and shoot. if I'm to close for that, i will circle them, try to get a good angle for me gunners and send them to Davy's locker.my tip: always make use of your enemy's blind spots, and they cant touch you.

I took the Black Dragon

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2234

Tagged it with the very first shot

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2233

Stripped the sails

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2232

Pounded on it for a few minutes

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2231

And sent 'em to Davy Jones!
It never got a single shot off.

And I learned something. It seems to spawn off KH and Avaricia. Then it heads all the way around the edge of the world I think. As far as I can tell there is only 1 per server, but I might be wrong. I think though that it's like the Colossus Flagship. Anyway, for anyone who wants to try it, and test my theory, go for it. The Juggernauts give almost exclusive royals to me anyway. Happy hunting!!!

Cool me and my brother did the same thing with a regular Frigate, we disabled it's sails then destroyed it. When it's health was real low I used a ramming speed towards is so my brother could use an explosive, the Juggernaut was defeated seconds after I used the Ramming Speed, but after the Ramming Speed it had a clear shot at us with it's broadsides, and in those seconds, it brought our health into the red.

JM Ohara 11-02-2010 02:36 PM

Ya, all those monsters pack a major punch. ;)

I know how ye did it mate assuming ye did not use a cheat or glitch of any kind. Why do I know? Because I have done it myself.

Here is how I did it:
I was sailing a War Galleon
I had max broadside skill set.
On cannon skills I had max round, barrage, and shrapnel.
and now the Ace in the hole!
I had the Famed Steel Ram active.

As luck would have it when I fired my broadside the hits were all critical for 1175 damage a piece. that x 18 = 21150 and that ship went down!

Now I feel there is no need to PM the way ye did it unless it involves a glitch or cheat. Please tell me I am wrong.

Sith kinght pirate 01-01-2011 03:03 AM

i did it that way using a war frigate

Try Doing An Open Fire With That On A Treasure Fleet. Pretty Good Damage

Captain Jason 01-01-2011 07:58 AM

Aye, use open fire too.

21150 divided by 2. Add that to 21150 and it equals 31725. Not to bad either mate!
