Very interesting, any speculation that they could re-add this quest for the next chapter?
Certainly seems interesting, and thanks for sharing the photos. |
Nice, I remember seeing the old old old thread about this, thank you for reposting :)
|
Also to note, there is the full cutscene (audio) in the phase files
|
Wow Iron, been a long time since I've seen those - somehow - I'm feeling older now :D
|
well based on what i've heard and seen it appears they MAY add the quest back
|
Thanks for posting these Iron. I was BB ready the day it went down for six months of "maintenence" so I never got to see that scene. Very Cool ;)
|
So THATS where Gibbs must say 'rough place Padres...' in that video on DXD. Always wondered about that.
|
Id heard of that scene a few times, thanks for posting Iron.
I do think its quite possible they put this back into the game, I think they have got alot of stuff back in now, that they originally ripped out in the race to opening to public. Hard to say, I know the "Kraken" has been a big thing in POTCO, everyone wants to see it in the game. This may have changed their direction some. |
I remember that from the first time I completed the Pearl quest so it had to stay in after Dec 07 not sure when it came out but was gone by the time I finished it on my second pirate in the summer of 08.
|
Why does that last image reads Chapter 4?
|
At the time I think it was planned on being "Chapter 4".
Here are the chapters of "Lore". Chapter I: Who is Jolly Roger? Chapter II: A Tale of Two Islands Chapter III: Rise of the Privateer Chapter IV: Curse of the Muertos Moon Chapter V: From the Ashes - The New Port Royal Rises Chapter VI: EITC - Plots & Rumors Chapter VII: From the Ashes - A New Tortuga Chapter VIII: Fiery Winds of Change Assuming they would not have to redesign things at some point to get back to their original plans (or stall with certain events), the next story chapter would have been IV which is where the redesigns started taking place. |
You can HEAR parts of this scene...
Watch the videos on the XD site, the interview with the actor who plays Mr. Gibbs has a clip from that scene! |
It's very bad that they aren't put this chapter in the game... :(
Wait & see :) |
huh? were you not able to talk to Val?
|
Yes I did talk to Valentina got the reward but then no further quest. It just stopped there.

Some of these we have seen already. We have a new Tortuga and Port Royal. We had that time before the island were remade when all we heard were EITC rumors of The Black Guard. We had the Curse thing for while. Unless they build on the role events and these items this sounded like a great plan. It shows they had stuff planed. It brings hope to me. It makes me feel like they weren't winging it or making it up as they went. |

What I was trying to say is that the first 3 chapters were likely planned stages, with the next story quest to be chapter 4. Instead because they had to strip the game to get it online quickly, we ended up with events, which may have been planned for chapter 5 for example... Curse of the Muertos Moon, and then chapters representing the rebuild of the Caribbean getting them back on track to the original plan (like putting everything back in they had to strip out at the start). Will be interesting to see what number they assign the next story quest chapter in the game, chapter 2? 10? 11? (I suspect Chapter 9 will be the new caves... and/or the Casa Muertos Guild) |
Great screen shots...Shame the quest was deleted before a pirate could finish it...but ya never know what the future may have in store...
|
Aye, was a shame indeed they took it out, would have been nice to let us play it. However if I remember correctly you couldn't get past talking to Valentina, that was where the quest ended.
Also, I though I'd share the audio file for the cutscene. |
This certainly does look interesting. Thx for posting this Ironhawk. I can't wait for the new content.
|
if this comes back to us then even if the Kraken Bb comes the new story could be bout every side fighting for the artifact including Davy Jones and end with you ultimately getting it and kraken unleashed
|
Too bad it didnt make it back into the game then my friends would start playing again.

I've got, SO much money on the fact this is quest is going to come back as the next Story Chapter. With all the Invasions, the reason Roger is invading the islands keeps changing. With Port Royal, it was the Mansion. With Tortuga, it was with Jack. Now, I wonder what will be on Padres? I don't know, maybe.... the Headstone! Remember a really really long time ago, Disney said that Roger was searching for a "jewel" of some sort? *points frantically to the OP* That jewel has to be the HeadSTONE (get it? Jewel = Precious Stone = "Precious" Stone = Headstone!) And now, back to the Invasions; WHY is Roger trying to destroy the defenses of Padres? Is he trying to get to somebody on Padres? Jack, maybe? Or maybe the person who knows where the Headstone is, Valentina. Lets face it, in the direction the story line is going, the next story quest will NOT be about the Kraken, as it is focusing on Roger. I don't know, it still remains a puzzle. But if you apply the pieces to the Headstone, the pieces fit pretty darn well!

Innocent John Mopses said there were weapon caches on PDF and that is what Jolly was going after. I figured that would lead into the new weapon quests. I guess we will have to wait and see. PDF invasions should be coming to Live soon.
Also Captain Rott stole the gold cutlass that John Moses found on his farm. This was all revealed in the "Reunion" GM events. Be interesting to see how this turns out as Captain Rott now works for Jolly Roger, but was he working on his own back then or did the weapon go to Jolly. Rott had also mentioned that Jolly was working on a magical Cannon - could the new Powder Keg Runners be that cannon? These guys are sappers meant to take down the barricade and probably the Walls of PDF's town. That is the target of the PDF invasions. Captain Whale |
Well, there is an interesting idea that Rott worked for Davy Jones.I for one am going with that.

The cutlass may return, and be linked to the Headstone, coming with the new weapons we saw in the mentioned thread. DTP, I think this is where that idea originated. |
Yes ,Seafury. You have a thing for digging up posts lately, good one.I myself aren't so sure the new weapons are with the Headstone though,I think that was presumed to be coming with the new Loot and Inventory.
|
I'm glad they had actually planned it a long time ago. I wonder if this will be the next one?

Again - keep in mind that we are between films 1 and 2 and there is a gap in time there. I would even argue that as Barbossa is still alive but his status of being cursed or brought back to life is in question. William Turner and Elizabeth are still in thier starting places in Film one but Elizabeth's father is missing.
So I would say after the first Film and before the wedding at the start of film 2. Jack is around but Commodor Norington is not. He may have been discraced by now due to his failure to catch Jack Sparrow and the loss of his ship. Jack and Gibbs are on Tortuga. This could account for our first storyline to fetch back the Black Pearl. Perhaps it was seized at some point after he escaped Norrington. All conjecture of couse but the game doesn't have to follow the Movies exactly it just takes place within the POTCO world. Aye Roger, several things were mentioned out of those meetings and I have to say the Shore battery defenses sounded really cool. Whether they would be used against invasions as we have them or against an invasion of ships or somthing else entirely willl have to be seen. Captain Whale |
I'll call the following conjecture: Remember the blocked cave entrance (to nowhere) on the old Padres? The Headstone Quest used that. You see, Jack Sp... err, Captain Jack Sparrow knew that the powerful stone was buried someplace on PDF. Actually, many had heard rumors that the mythical Headstone was located on the volcano island. Though no one had any idea exactly where on the island it might be. Beckett has his quarry, but savvy pirates know that would be like trying to find a single drop of water in an ocean. But with the right information, a large cache of explosives, and a little luck, maybe a pirate could locate the Headstone. Oh, to control the wind and sail the fastest ship on the water, The Black Pearl - that me hearties is freedom!
Will the Headstone Quest ever make an appearance in the game? The question is, where on the new Padres Del Fuego would the Overseers of the Caribbean hide the Headstone...? Quote:
