wouldn't those Pirates that hit level 50 on test be Pirate masters too?
they did the same work too, just asking.
it seems they were actually the first to hit that mark imo.

The orginal List of Pirate Masters is defined as a Level 40 Pirate on Open (since not everyone gets access to test). This also means that Pirate Master is not All Wapons Mastered - Just that the target of Highest Noriety is reached (which would now be 50).

Swash, I wish ya the best of luck in keeping up the list :) At least for the first while it shouldn't be too bad :D

And the fact the leaderboard does not apply to test, so it would be unfair to those that have no access to POF at all

since you are doing your statistics based only on POF results, your input or conclusions may be limited, i understand what our saying now.
It seemed many Pirates here play test and gave testimoney of ther levels?
and since Test is the precurser it seems, they did the same results. imo :)
but, that said, i do understand that POF may only look to the open servers as their rule.

ok, Due to the leaderboards not working, and might not be working for a while, Then If you know of someone, or is someone that is level 50, Take a screenie of them and send it to me, (Or post it here) The list probably wont be in order though cause I wont know the exact date of when they achieved it.

I think the list should be alphabetized. I heard a few hit 50 already -_-

The official leaderboard always has posted Notoriety increases in alphabetical order. The "order" never has been of any significant meaning.

The prior level 40 pirate master list, was just that, a list, not numbered. Numbering the list only makes it more difficult to manage.

Please, let's keep this thread on topic. Post your level 50's when they happen!

Actually - thats a bit incorrect. The list was done by number, pirate and date (Orginal List By Ironhawk) for the first 6 months... then as more pirates hit the mark on April st of 2008 the list was just added by day and not numbered.

The difference this time tough is that a) we have two years of knowledge and b) the statement is correct about two years of glitchers. It will not take nearly as long as 6 months to see the number of 50's as it did last time, so the suggestion of just going by date (and skip the numbers) may be best :)

Will the list have glitchers? Sure - even the last list did (after time, people did learn things and get on the list). It does not mean not to run a list, but it does mean that you are posting NOT for everyone else but just for own sense of accomplishment :)

Or as Sarah just Ninja'ed me with the best point - just post when you get to 50 :D

Yes that is true of Ironhawks unofficial list here on POF, however I was referring to POTCOs official notoriety leaderboard on their website, which has always been alphabetical (at least since Feb 08).
I recommend the new pirate masters be posted simply in the order they are identified/verified.

That has been a good question from the very start! Many believe that there had to be glitching involved, or that there was no way possible to go from level 40 to level 50 in such a short time without the use of speed, or other forms of cheating.

I for one am not going to debate that any further.

Suffice it to say that it is possible to take a level 40 fully mastered pirate, under the old rules, and do one of three things with them.

1) Level all weapons to level 30 from level 25, and earn no other rep from quests or from invasions, and you will have all weapons maxed and be around high level 46 on Notoriety.

2) Pick one or two weapons/skills, go to Outcast, Tormenta, or sailing, and do nothing BUT work those, earn rep from any quests you may not have done before, and from invasions, and you can get a pirate to level 50 without fully mastering your weapons.

3) Work everything fairly evenly, earn rep wherever you can, and get Notoriety to 50, and get all weapons and skills to 30, to reach FULL MASTERING of your pirate.

I had 4 fully mastered pirates under the old standards. Each of them still had quests available when the new limits came out. 2 of them had never done the level 5 weapons quests, or the clothing quests, since they had reached 40/25 prior to those quests ever being released. One other is only 3% along on the Pearl quest. I played him that way specifically to see if a pirate could reach full Master without any of the Pearl quest rep, and back then, you could.

If you "Saved" quests or some other form of earning gratis rep from the old ways, you can progress thru the new levels fairly quickly.

OBTW: My first pirate to hit level 50 and all weapons mastered again was only 2 weeks ago. My next highest is still only level 42. I'm in no rush to put them all back at the full mastered status, then sit and complain that there is nothing left to do.
