So far as I know the only game with a promised update was the Hollow had a tiny one today and gets a bigger on Thursday. Here in Pirates, there was no exact date promised, like Bas said. When I caught a GM on Friday they mentioned the invasions moving in, "a week or two." But that's not an exact date. We'll just have to wait and see. For me, I'd rather see it bug free first.

Eliza Creststeel 12-01-2009 09:30 PM

Hey, sour faces... That's enough of groaning. You all whine and moan about content, you get some and get bored in a day of it. You can't program and build new stuff in a day.

There's already been new stuff on Test, which means they are trying to perfect the next update.

And after all this time, I'm starting to understand and enjoy the RP stuff more myself. You don't want to mess with it, then don't. Less folks on the servers during those events will cut down on the lag.

Captain Whale 12-01-2009 09:36 PM

Aye Hawke there still be some bugs over on Test mate. Looks like the major ones are fixed though so shouldn't be to much longer. Obviously after this weekend based on the events they have now scheduled.

I am looking forward to joining the GMs this weekend. Should be a lot of fun and who knows what will happen or who will show up. The Elite Thieves will be there in force and ready to whoop some Skellies.

I feel so... Enraged and Hungry. The week I decide to do a welcome back Raid, and Disney decides to use the same date..... Raids weren't really the Korsairs idea, I know that, but we were one of the first to make raids more often then weekly or monthly.
It just seems too unbalanced, most likely, there will be a sea of lag at the GM raids, and A only few Korsairs raiding elsewhere.

Cpt. Charlotte Doyle 12-01-2009 09:50 PM

and i plan on being one korsair that will be raiding with the GMs.

By Gms, you mean Me and James, right?

Cpt. Charlotte Doyle 12-01-2009 10:38 PM

no, I mean the Host GMs. there are times between the event where nothing is going on, if you want to do that, but this type of conversation would be better suited for the korsair thread.

I'm not saying i hate the new content and i get bored when it comes out. im simply saying the clock is ticking and pretty much all eyes are on disney when they decide to release it. Let me ask you this, If you had the same hat or the same ship for a year or two years wouldnt you be kind of tired of it and want a new ship? If so then you are almost on the same page as me. All in all, I love disney's "new content" i just would like things to move a little more quickly, and yes i do understand how long it takes to make/build/design things for the Game.

MacIronhawk 12-02-2009 12:07 AM

I've kept the same type of shirts on toontown since 2003 and I'm not bored.

However, it's taking them TOO long to come out with a second story quest. The longest it took toontown to release a cog HQ was two years, and that was bossbot HQ. I can understand that, because they were working on other things that would help affect gameplay.

POTCO may be doing the same right now, but I think we're all upset that they rushed to be out before POTBS.(burning sea online) They DIDN'T need to do that, but their logic was, "Oh, more money!" If they would have waited a year, we'd probably see the things we see now, and it would be more fun, but it's not because they rushed.

These redone islands, caves, etc... should have been here from the start, not a year and a half later. Toontown has redone nothing, and it's kept the game clean. I guess it's because they don't have to compete against another game as far as theme goes.

All I'm saying is, if POTCO doesn't release something gianormous within the next four months, they've shown us what they can do. And that's not much...

jason davy 12-02-2009 12:35 AM

I agree Mac. The content releases (timing and the content itself) have just not been up to par.

And Eliza, thanks for the friendly suggestion, however, I can assure you my frustration is just as legitimate as your contentment so I think I'll keep "groaning" until D shows they can put out some quality content.

Aye, i completely Agree with you Mac and that is pretty much my point for the past year, its basically been delete all the old stuff and bring redone stuff in there i don't see that as "new content" that "we" (the players) wanted now correct me if im wrong here but its just been get a broom and clean up for the past year with Disney nothing has come that we actually want besides seeing JR in game. like i said earlier the clock is ticking and all eyes are on Disney for making us something "cool" and worth playing for. Raising the caps and raising the weapons i see are fun yes, but what do you do when you get to level 50 wait another two years for them to release another level cap raise or what?:pirate2wn0:

CarribeanThunder 12-02-2009 01:03 AM

Well, James, as you might be aware, there is the broken cap, so you won't "technically" master your pirate. You will still be able to go beyond Lv50 ( Lv56, etc. ). Disney is obviously still at work on this, and polishing the Test updates ( they fixed the Boots and Crashes, but there's still more to fix ).

Anyway, this GM event sounds great. I'll be sure to check it out.

Aaron McEagle 12-02-2009 01:04 AM

Not that this goes with your topic or all but..
Port Royal invasion are back again...
Did they go away??:laughks2:

Tom Sharkwash 12-02-2009 02:57 AM

What servers are the GM's going to be on?

Captain Del 12-02-2009 02:59 AM

They haven't stated so, but its obvious they are going to hit Abassa AT LEAST once a day. Other than that, it might be a few other A servers, as well as the occassional other Ideal server.

I would hate to have seen invasions take place on the old Port Royal and Tortuga. It seems pretty obvious that they redid Port Royal, Tortuga and Del Fuego so that they could limit sight distances and turn off stuff you couldn't see like buildings, crates, and other things on the other sides of walls. You can see this easy by climbing up the repair shop steps in Port Royal, or by glitching through walls in a lot of places where half the world disappears. With the performance boost that those changes got us we now get cool stuff like the invasions. Yes, the invasions are crazy laggy and can sometimes chug, but that's because of all the people and undead there... imagine if the town itself was also adding to that lagg!!
The recent test notes seem to have a lot of changes with ships and sailing so I wonder if we're going to see more happening on the ocean soon? :piratewheelgo2:

Oh, and I can't wait for the cave raids, this looks like fun! I wonder if they're going to have skeleton GMs leading the undead? :psmiley27:

Rosa_ESG 12-02-2009 12:37 PM

Great news, I for one am trying to get to these events, I hope to see many friendly pirates there.:dancetl6:

Capt C Ray 12-02-2009 05:49 PM

You can count on seeing this friendly face at the Cave Raids with the GM's Rosa:dancetl6:
I for one have been playing for almost 2 years now and have not gotten bored yet. Might be because I still dont have a mastered pirate, but then I dont play 8 hrs a day or when i'm on do nothing but lvl.
I have seen plenty of new content and waiting for more to come. I feel everything that big D has done is for a reason. One thing for sure, game play has gotten better.:piratewheelgo2:

Jeanne Stormcutter 12-02-2009 09:19 PM

Wow, another GM event right after last week? This is amazing! Go Disney! :th1287fm4:

Ooh i can't wait, it is always so fun to interact with them :D You get to know all the juicy gossip, lol! And since i
have everything always screened i can just go back into the past moments and laugh about everything again,
some moments are just too funny to be forgotten! :dancetl6:

I'm hoping to see many excited pirates there as well, i'm sure something will come up.. Some nice clues perhaps?
News about Jolly Roger's movements? Hopefully something mysterious, it is always fun to guess what the Disney
has in store for us! :D

No server told...? Hmm, i guess it's time to hop again, haha! :)

Raven Night 12-03-2009 03:06 AM

I am personally not enthused, but I am sure there will be those that will enjoy it, which is a good thing.

I am just disappointed that such a great sea battle mechanic is wrapped in such a horrible game. Perhaps one day the ground game will catch up to the fun of the ship game, but looking at how things are now a year after I left im not holding out hope for any real meaningful change in the short term.

ex8404 12-03-2009 04:07 AM

What is the ratio of active players online to the number of people who actually get to participate in these GM events?

I think they're fine and all but I have never even had the chance to be close to one. And I have been playing for almost 2 years now...Oh well. I'll wait until someone posts some screen shots...

Raven Night 12-03-2009 08:31 AM

Well, this event looks more interesting then the last...though the last one did provide a really good "tonic" so to speak it was pretty limited. This one seems more involved.

Captain Whale 12-03-2009 01:35 PM

Ahoy ex8404, this one is scheduled mate. Should be able to find at least one by hopping across the A servers. The Elite Thieves will do a shotgun approach and hit several servers until we find one. We did the same thing with the bonfire ones and that worked pretty well. Once we find one we just call it out in guild chat. Those who are interested can come a runnin then.

Also these events do not occur on Test for those who don't know.

A question to those who will be attending, will you be bringing pirates of appropriate level for the location? What I mean is, are we going to be seeing notoriety 40+ pirates beating up on level 6-10 skeletons that will be killed within a split second of encountering?

Just wondering. Seeing how the skeletons in Thieves Den are concentrated in the center near the one waterfall, it seems this will mostly be a slaughter of Navy and EITC while making your way to 7 skeletons that inhabit this cave.

Granted this is the only cave Tortuga has, it seems that Rats Nest would have been a much better place to go to take out Jolly's skeleton army on Tortuga. At least there, the mobs range from 6-23 (with a boss included in the mix).

Eh, just some rum for thought.

Raven Night 12-04-2009 09:17 AM

I wonder if during the event they intend to boost the levels/difficulty of mobs.....

ninety3rd 12-04-2009 10:25 AM

This was exactly my first thought when I saw this "news".
It is bad enough on a beach in a very open area, what now in a confined cavern tunnel?
Good grief.

Eliza Creststeel 12-04-2009 05:33 PM

James,

I have had the SAME HAT, SAME SHIPS for OVER A YEAR! And I would LOVE new ones, believe me. And maybe thats part of the problem is that this team may be trying to something in all directions at once.

And none of us have any idea how hard doing this stuff could be.

Personally, I feel like new storyline wouldn't be as hard as new features. After all, quests can include going places and fighting enemies that are already there. Adding cinematic breaks may be the pain there - along with actually crafting where the story is going to go.

If Disney is having trouble with Bruckheimer's company trying to get the 4th into production, that might affect canon and where the story will eventually go.

ukebec 12-06-2009 06:13 PM

To anyone who has attended this event...are the GMs meeting at the Tortuga Graveyard entrance to the Thieves Den?

Thank you.

Sven Osymthe 12-06-2009 06:18 PM

Not sure, since the one I went to I arrived late by a tp, but they do begin in the northern part of the cave.

Captain Grizzly 12-06-2009 07:51 PM

They have turned up in various locations at the ones I've been to. Had them start off in Wildwoods at the entrance to Thieves Den a couple of times and the last one I went to last night, the GM took us through Misty Mire to the Rats Nest for the event and not into the caves at all. That makes more sense due to the small amount of skeletons in the caves on Tortuga.

Captain Rott and other members of the Casa de Muertos have been turning up at the events as well. Kinda fun watching the GMs knock each other out.
