Where is my Chain Shot?
 

I'm at a loss here, I'm lvl 6 (iirc) in cannon, and I have my grape shot, I have Chain Shot showing in my weapons, highlighted like it would work, but when I get on my cannon I only have cannonballs and grape shot showing. Big blank space in #2 where the chain shot should be.

If it unlocks at another lvl I would think it would show in the line AFTER the grape shot?? I'll keep shooting and check back in a bit, hope you can help! :h-ghost:

Ok first its regular cannon balls then its chain then grape....did you use a cannon point to activate it? Do you have the ammo in your inventory or do you need to go buy some? Other than that I would be talking to the programmers.

Yeah I think I'll have to contact them. In my treasure chest weapons page it shows cannonball, chain, grape...chain and grape both show active and have full ammo. When I get on the cannon the circles go: cannonball, blank (showing chain should be second but it's empty) then grape with full ammo. Weirdness.

BTW I just upgraded to lvl 7 and it's still not working.

Well guess what! I got an email back from them telling me to update my graphics drivers!!! HAHAHAA it's gonna be just like Toontown...anything goes wrong, it's your drivers!!! If it were my drivers, I would think I'd have issues with more than one weapon, don'tcha think?!?!

I'm now up to lvl 8 cannon and it's still not working. Also got a message to train a new shot which I can't get to work, even though I bought the ammo. Is anyone else at this lvl having this issue? Or anyone higher who can tell me when it WILL unlock?

I was wondering if you know how to unlock the ammo? I was able to buy chain and grape ammo but I can't use it. I am at level 5 cannon and would think that by now I would be able to use ammo other than round shot and grapple. On the K tab under cannons it shows that I own 100 of each of grape and chain ammo and has a link (or so it seems to be) that say's click to learn skill but each time i try to click it the popup box goes away. I am thinking level 5 should be able to use these skills as the next one on the list is firebrand and when you hover the mouse over it the popup says available atg level 8.

SP has given me OK to add this question to her thread since it is similar in content to her problem and she has also given me her take on my problem and I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas?

Just had to give them a skill point.

I am embarassed to say I do not know what you mean here? Under the K tab it says I have 2 skill points, do I use these some how to unlock the grape and chain shot?

Yup lol as with all weapons, when you get a skill point you can allocate it to one of your skills by clicking on that skill :)

It's the same with all your weapons, so go check your skills for those too :)

interesting, I dont hve those skill points anymore but I was clicking all over the place so I probably allocated them to something like, oh let's see, hmmmmmm allowing king kong into the cargo bay for transport to new york.

Seriously, I will see if I can figure out what you mean here since this is the first I have learned about "skill points", thanks.

edit: I just went to the K tab and notice that I had now progressed in sailing far enough to use the "come about" manuveur and I had one skill point there and I clicked the icon for come about and went out to sea and lo and behold I was able to use the "come about " function. This however has not been the case for me with skill points under the cannon tab or the sword tab or the gun tab. Really strange!!! to this point anyway and like I said I was clicking like a madman so I probably used the skill point to beam to mars or something, from now on I'll be more careful. Thanks for your help!

i have the same problem, for some reason i cant get a skill point to stick with chain or the next one - i do have fireball though, so who knows i figure its just a glitch.

Oh thanks! I was starting to think I was going nuts (...or more so LOL) anyway, it's weird having grape shot and that silly space where my chain should be...maybe it'll just pop in later if all goes well. Although I sent a bug report they replied about my drivers, so idk if they're even bothering to looking into the possibility of a bug or not.

BTW, I have an unusable fireball too, here I sit with all this ammo I bought and can't use.

seems to be for most any skill, I have two sword skills that I can't use either. Have them under the K tab but not when I am actually fighting.

Hmm that's kinda weird that it only happens to some and not all people.

Add me to the list of not being able to unlock grape shot. For some reason at the beginning of the game I was able to buy grape shot ammo without having the skill unlocked. And since I didn't know what I was doing I bought it. I'm wondering if that messed it up for me. I was able to unlock Firebrand no problem.
Of course Disney tells me that they recommend a min. of 512 ram and I may need to add more RAM. Hmmm I have 2 gigs of RAM LOL This is a brand new mobile workstation that is more then powerful enough to handle this game.

Just like the "drivers" standard response...they seem to tell us these things when they don't know what else to say, and don't seem to want to admit there could be a problem with the game.

Re: my issue: I got up to lvl 9 on the cannons so I got another point to use...used it on Chain shot AGAIN and it finally gives me the rings around it with lvl 1 showing, but STILL as soon as I get on the cannon I still have the blank space where it should go. Next point I get will go to the fireball or whatever that is, we'll see if that one works.

Oh Dizzy...I bought chain shot before I could use it too, so maybe that does have something to do with it; although when I used Contact Us to report it they breezed right over that and said it's my drivers.

Funny, all the skills that I have attained access to I can use. Strange.

I'm really thinking it has to do with the fact that we bought it before being able to use that skill. Mine does the same as yours. Sometimes it seems to take the skill point and shows as activated but as soon as I go on cannon or tp somewhere I have a skill point available again. Was so bad that it didn' teven let me use that skill point at all until I unlocked my next item by reaching level 8. Weird stuff. Good luck to you Princess. You play TT as well I think I read? Are you on test?

Just wanted to add that I asked Disney if there was any way I could clear my inventory and get rid of the grape shot ammo I bought and they didn't respond to that for me either. I think that would fix the problem. Hmmmm Well I love my Firebrand now and will probably work on upgrading that and my reloading time anyhow :)

Dizzy - yep I'm on TT and test, but I haven't been on since I started Pirates! LOL

Now I'm bummed again, I logged out and when I went back on my circle around the Chain shot is gone, just like before...so I've wasted ANOTHER point trying to get this thing to work. GRRRR!!!!

Devs, if you happen to read this maybe you can look into it and fix this issue. I've started another character who's on lvl 5 cannons and got the chain shot with no issue; if this character is bugged I'll just continue with the new one and dump this, although I hate to lose the lvl 17 Notoriety and all the weapons; took a while to work up that high.

Email them back and let them know your drivers are updated already, I've had to do that. I'd check to make sure they were updated if it's been awhile just in case but yeah they have issues with that. This computer is a gaming computer and has run multiple online games on it that have way more than this one but they still think it's my computer at times. No one else seems to be having this problem that I know of and it is weird that it is only that one ammo for cannon having issues, I'd submit a new report.

I am having the same issue as some of the others regarding adding a point to chain and grape. I bought the ammo before I put a point into those skills and now it will not allow the skill point to set. It keeps kicking it out to the remain when you log back in. Big problem for sure.

Sounds like we have a trend now. If you buy ammo before achieving the skill, you can't use that skill. Hopefully they can fix this in the next update.

The problem is the game gives you ammo (50/100 maybe) when you purchase the first point in the skill. Since you maxed out the ammo before buying the skill it can't give the ammo that the skill comes with, so it bugs out and doesn't complete the action.

It seems like an easy fix for them, though there's no telling how long it'll take.
Not all of the ammo based skills give free ammo, but I imagine all the ones that do can be bugged by this.

So, keep those drivers up to date...or something :rolleyes:

I still don't have the darn chain shot, and I'm like a lvl 9 cannoner. How sad. My little pirate who's only lvl 7 or so Notoriety has chain now. I'm being VERY careful of what I buy and how I click when I get a skill point now.

I may have learned something about this today and maybe I just got lucky.

I, like SP, have been trying in vain to get my chain shot to work. I bought the ammo some time back and have had the skill points to activate the ammo but every time I tried nothing happened and I wasted a skill point.

Today, just for giggles, I tried to activate the skill shot skill while out to sea on my boat. I had never done this in the past as I had always been on land trying to activate the skill.

Guess what, the skill was activated and now I have chain shot.

I also need to activate grape shot and as of yet I have not tried to do that while out to sea. I will try later as soon as I get another skill point and let you know here if it worked.

Having said all that it maight be that the game updates have just fixed a problem and it will woek on land but just the same I am not going to waste a skill point trying it out on land, lol.
