Who is looking forward to what could be the best game of 2010. Also if anyone hasn't heard yet the beta will start on May 3rd, 2010.

Judging by what Bungie has been releasing on the Halo: Reach project page the graphics could be better than MW2 and the with them making this a Sandbox game I can't wait!

Have you seen the ViDoc Trailer for Reach?? It is... awesome. Stupid beta comes out during finals, not good.

It does last 2 weeks so your only missing out on half, but it does stink that you have finals during the beta.

So far I've seen a lot of great new features for Reach, like the DMR and the Grenade Launcher, but I like the redone version of the Assault Rifle and how they're adding Armor Abbilities like Jetpacks and Armor Lock.

Now that the beta is over, it's gonna be a long wait till Reach comes out.
Here's a few of my thoughts:

BR > DMR. Especially for swat. The BR fires in bursts but the DMR is just a single shot, which makes swat a lot harder (their headshot calculation error didn't help either). I also like the new needle rifle better than the DMR.

I played a lot of invasion and I really like the game type, but Spartans have an unfair advantage, even without the DMR loadout at the beginning. Spartans have better weapons, better spawns, better vehicles, etc. For those of us who care about our KD spread, being an Elite no good. Invasion slayer seems pretty balanced though.

The loadouts are awesome. I mostly use sprint but armor lock is growing on me. I'd argue it is the best loadout if you know how to use it. Jetpack screams "SHOOT ME" and invisible is just annoying.

At first I HATED how the grenades are way more powerful than in H3. But now I think they're alright. It's still annoying when you are at full health and shields and get killed by a grenade, but it's an easy kill when you do the same thing to someone else. I don't care if they keep them powerful or nerf 'em.

I've kept myself from judging the game too much because there will probably be some significant differences when the actual game is released, but the beta definitely gets 2 thumbs up from me. But for now... back to H3.

Now that the beta is over here are my thougths:
I think the grenades should be nerfed so that we can't get killed by them immediately after getting shot once with the DMR.

I think Armor Locks blast radius for when it ends should be larger and more powerful.

I really think the pistol should have more bullets in the clips so that a clip of pistol ammo can kill a person instead of it taking a clip and a half.

The Assault Rifle should be made more powerful as it is extremely underpowered.

I think that Elites in Generator Defense should get better spawns on the map.

Well those are my thoughts on Reach

Dude I agree. The AR was already bad but they made it garbage.

The AR in Halo 3 couldn't kill an enemy without you having to reload, but with the AR in Reach I'd have an easier time killing an enemy with a plasma pistol.

Who hear is now really excited for Forge World and Custom firefight gametypes. Also judging by the new trailers, Halo Reach is going to have very epic which lots of AI. Also just wondering what editions of the game anyone is getting, I am getting the Legendary Edition because of the content and the fact that this is Bungies last Halo game which is sad because they make really good games and could expand the Halo universe for decades and still keep their fanbase.

I enjoyed the other Halo games, and the graphics, so whether the graphics are better than MW2, I don't care. You're never wearing anything cloth like, and that's the only thing about graphics that erks me.

I've yet to see a game where clothing looks like actual clothing. Yet they can make games where cars look flawless, such as Gran Turismo 5.

I'm looking forward to the game, although it's going to be a really hard pick for me, since four new games are coming out that I'd really like.

Either infamous 2, NFS hot pursuit, the Sly Cooper collection, or Halo Reach. Out of those four games, I'll only have enough for three, so one has got to go.

If anyone hasn't heard yet IGN is releasing new videos of Halo Reach gameplay every day. They're only a minute long, but cool nonetheless. Also did anyone go to GameStop for the Halo Reach event? I would've gone if I had known about the Legendary Edition giveaway so I could save $150, but didn't because I knew the video would just be on the internet an hour later.

I'm personally not buying the legendary edition just for the statue, and armor. I don't need armor to play well. (well, that is, when I get used to the weapons again.) I personally used the AR alot in Halo 3. Hearing that it was nerfed saddens me. (I missed beta). However, I like the edition of sprint, because sometimes regular walkspeed isn't fast enough.

Only 7 more days until it gets released and it feels like an eternity. So what mode are you guys going to play first when you get your hands on Reach? I'm going to play Campaign so I don't get the ending spoiled for me like Halo 3.

I never got the big deal about Halo actually... its a great game and everything, but I think its reputation is a lot better than the game really is. Dont think I hate Halo though, I think its just overrated. But I still look forward to trying it out.

So in essence, If I was planning on buying a 360 this is the game to buy? This game will be better than CoD? I ask because I have been toying around with the possibility of getting one.

The game can be better than CoD, but it's all up to what the player prefers to play. Personally I like CoD's single player better, as for multi-player, that's the biggest part of both games, and both are good.

If you do buy an Xbox though, it certainly is the game to buy (depending on what you like). It is over-rated at times (mostly due to people making it out to be the greatest game of all time), but it's still a fun game. Plus, it's the main reason a lot of people buy an Xbox (true or not, you have to admit a lot less people would buy the system had Halo never been made).

If you are definitely getting a 360 then you will definitely want to get this game. Not going to start a COD vs Halo debate because I think both games are great, but in truth there is more to do in Halo and more customization. In COD it's just Campaign and then Multiplayer, while in Halo there is Campaign, Multiplayer, Firefight which is a survival mode type thing, and then Forge mode which has now been upgraded through the roof so you can make essentially anything, then their is Theater to watch your recent games. Overall it depends on what interests you, if you like more modern games then COD is for you, but if you like more Sci-fi games then Halo is for you.

I'm excited for campaign but im also excited to bust some heads with my DMR. Not sure yet which will win out.

Alright 6 days left and as you can see I'm starting the countdown until total awesomeness consumes us. And Skirata if you do end up getting an Xbox I recommend the new slimmer one as you'll end up saving money in the long run because the older models encounter more problems than the new one. Also I recommend getting live but it isn't necessary, but a lot of Reach's features are exclusive to Live subscribers such as Matchmaking, Custom games ( doesn't require live, but it's easier to play custom games if you do have live, Firefight matchmaking, and Campaign Matchmaking.

I saw it before it was deleted and I Rofl'd so hard, but the page was vandalized so much that the mods of Wikipedia had to close down the page to outside editing.

I already have the best game of 2010 xD.

One... more day... and then a few shots, and then i get the game! Woot! xD Hopefully i can finally be able to use forge... forge in halo 3 was just BAD... so many glitches i had to memorize how to do for my map to be good... ex: interlocking, budget glitch, etc etc. Now i can do all that with the menu! xD

Now that Reach has been out for a week, what are your thoughts?

I was VERY happy with the campaign. Unlike H3 and ODST, it's actually a challenge. Not that H3 and ODST weren't fun, but if I don't get frustrated even once during a game, I think it's probably too easy. Solo campaign is definitely a lot tougher. I had some pretty high death counts on a couple missions before it clicked that I wouldn't be able to breeze through like the previous 2 games. I'm really excited that the solo campaign is so tough.

Bungie said in co-op campaign (and firefight?), the enemies were upgraded to account for extra players, but my buddy and I have been able to go through co-op pretty quickly and easily. I haven't finished solo or co-op yet but I'll probably sit down and knock it out sometime this week.

I've only played 5 matchmaking games but so far it's about like I expected after playing the beta back in May. I did terrible on Boardwalk in my only team slayer game (I need to learn the new maps) but won all 4 invasion games I've played (pretty easy if you have a competent team).

The achievements for this game are pretty easy I think. I have completed 34 of 49 with only 5 matchmaking games played and campaign not finished, so I wish they were a little more challenging.

Other than that, my only other observation from my limited play time is that fully customizable firefight is hilarious and totally exploitable.

What do you guys think so far?

I will buy my set tomorrow. Hopefully I will see some of you around.

I'm still trying to get used to that stupid frustrating DMR reticle bloom. I miss my BR.... and H3 in general. I kind of like the H3 multiplayer better... :/ Although the Reach campaign and firefight is definitely better.

This is a very fun game i love it :)

Now that the game is out here are my thoughts. I'll be updating this post every once in a while because I don't have time to post it all right now.
*SPOILERS AHEAD*





Campaign:
Pros-
1. I liked each and every level and thought that this was probably the best Halo campaign.
2. I especially liked the Target Locator
3. Firing the Mass Driver was one of my favorite parts.
4. Jorges Death was probably the most epic. He takes down a Covenant Supercarrier for
5. Noble 6 comes right behind. He just wouldn't die.
6. Carter comes third. Took down a Scarab and allowed the team to pass on Cortana to Cpt. Keyes.
7. Emile's death was fitting. He took down 2 Elite Zealots before dying.

Cons-
1. Legendary Solo. Need I say more.
2. Hunters are overpowered and need a huge nerfing.
3. Phantoms need to have their main gun removed or replaced with the Halo 3 style turret.
4. Kats death was horrible. After taking down so many Covenant, a stray needle form a needle rifle hits her in the head.

Adding on to this post later with more thoughts.

Bumping this thread. Also what rank is everyone? I'm a Commander currently and I think Skirata is almost a Colonel. Also who has beaten, or is currently trying to beat Reach on Legendary Solo. It's the hardest thing I have ever tried to do.

Haven't been on in about a month with end of the semester chaos but over Christmas I'll get my game back up. I'm a Major Grade 1, the lowest out of most of the people I play with lol. The multiplayer has grown on me a lot, it took a long time to get used to the new game and after that I spent a pretty good amount of time trying to dig my k/d out of the hole. Since then I've been working on my sniping since that's what I wasn't so good at in H3. It's coming along nicely to say the least. I'll have to party up with you guys some over break.

I've played the first half of the solo campaign on legendary and wow.... I partnered up with a buddy and took out co-op no problem but I haven't touched solo since. Very challenging, but I like it that way.

I'm not a huge fan of Sniping, mostly because I miss too often, and I can't usually find a good spot to snipe. On legendary I'm on the mission "Long Night of Solace" and I'm at the part where I have to disable it's Comms. It feels like it's impossible.

Agh you're making me want to (attempt to) finish solo campaign. That may be my project to start on tonight. If you get the urge to play some matchmaking, hit me up Swash.

Lol, I finally completed "Long Night of Solace" and am going to start on "Exodus". Just completed it on Easy to get 2 challenges and now going in for real. Also your not on right now Davy, but If you don't see me online it's because I have my status set to "Appear Offline", but I'll send you an invite if those pesky Covenant start to irritate me. Also a tip when dealing with Elites: Hit them with a Plasma Pistol Overcharge and then put a DMR shot to the head, it's an Instant Kill.

YES. Just finished campaign solo on legendary.

Solo legendary is fun in the sense that I love a good challenge, but now that I've got that accomplishment under my belt, I just want to play through on normal or heroic to have REAL fun without having to worry about dying constantly.

Yes, I'm the infamous Metzelda, Conqueror of games :D. But yeah Reach is addicting once you start playing again, and the only cure is a healthy dose of Black Ops.

Thread died pretty quick.
Just played a few hours of Firefight Arcade yesterday and killed a few thousand Covenant Soldiers before getting the weekly Challenge, "Ride the Wave". Also got 3 commendations, Get Loud Onyx, Numbers Game Gold, and Riflin Through Bronze.

I need to play more.

Favorite playlist for practicing is big team, it's usually pretty easy and it's great for working on dmr and sniping. Favorites to play for fun are swat and snipers. Nick, you can add my GT JDxWhatever but it'll be at least a couple weeks till I make it on for any length of time.

Sadly I don't have this game because I only have PS3. :(
