Sorry if this has already been posted. I'm used to digging through the phase files in Disney games, and since they all share the same speedchat system, they also have each other's speedchat phrases in them. I happened to find some of the Pirates Online speedchat phrases that has to do with their currently unreleased fishing system:

There's also speedchat phrases for Cannon Defense:

I didn't know whether this was already known, since I don't go to this site that often. These were found in the recent Toontown Online update, which also share the same speedchat system as Pirates (technically, Pirates practically ripped from Toontown), and also has the Pirates phrases stored in them as well, which most likely had to do with the whole DXD thing.

Kind of gone off topic there for a moment. What do you think?

fishing like in toon town?

Maybe I'll have better luck catching fish in Pirates than for real!!! ROFL!!

The fact that you sag this is pretty much ripped from toontown kind of disheartens me. There's a reason I play pirates, not toontown. *sigh* but hey, I'm willing to give it a try before I rip on it. Hopefully thats soon.

You don't have to rip it out yourself. That's why I'm doing it.

Actually, it's nearly complete different from toontowns fishing. If you haven't played toontown, it goes like this. You hold a fishing rod, and you click and hold the mouse, pull back, and the darker the color on the bottom is(goes from green to yellow to red) that farther it will go. All you need to do is drop the fishing rod in the right spot and hit a black cirlce(fish) and that's it.

If you have played toontown, you'll already know by the sea area that it's way different. And even if this was similar to toontowns fishing, it's not a rip off. It's new content which thousands of players have never even experienced before.

But since it's a new way of fishing, I think it's going to be really fun and enjoyable. It's new content. It's something that'll keep most of us busy. Especially since fishing will be a "weapon" to level up. And still, there may be rewards.

Undead fish? Maybe you can throw it at Jolly Roger and cause a million damage hitting him in the face.

I actually liked toon town fishing and I loved riding the trolley, sometimes I went to a quite server and got onto the trolley alone so I could have all the beans and keep going over and over, alone :D

Hey, look on the bright side - a new minigame is coming out :D

Also, that fish doesn't look much like Nessie, but you never know - it could even be said Legendary Fish.

Well, now that there's pictures, I am heartened again! I'm liking the big fishies, haha. I'm personally not seeing the Kraken in all of this, but that big sea monster is a good replacement! (And yes, I have played Toontown fishing, and toontown itself.)

I wonder if the "legendary fish" will be the Kraken, lol.

....any ideas if we get rep...or can we sell fish.....or can we make a potion with em...or can we eat em...lol?

Curious if fishing is just a mini-game, like ship repair or if it will have a skill - like potions. If its a skill though, likely there would be abilities or items to catch big and better fish.

I can see it just being a mini-game for gold. Set up a fishing stand near the markets or Butcher Brown and they pay you for catching fish for them to sell.

When the potions minigame was released on test, fishing was shown to have a reputation system on the reputation page of your sea chest, along with able to have different rods. It was taken out shortly that day.

:cat-ani:Disney has a tradition of recycling ... toontown has fishing, I expect the fishing to be similar in potco minus the toon stuff and add a pirate flair.

You know, the Sea Serpent bit reminded me of that one old quest from Johnny McVane that sent you to go kill Sea Serpents. Maybe if this fish IS a Sea Serpent, said quest may come back...

Can the kraken only be defeated once in the game or does it keep responding

Sure. I'll take some pictures of them now. They really creep me out IMO (then again, everything in this game does).

Edit: This will only take a few minutes..... Both the lava fish (actually, it's named Fire, but looks more lavaish to me) and that ET looking fish (named Fogbell). Actual names may vary. Oh, and they will be animated like the previous, but I'll make it more simpler.

So it seems that fishing will actually be a bigger update than potions. Fishing is a WHOLE NEW expansion and will call for probably 3-4 weeks of testing.

The next fish is so ridiculously small compared to the other fishes I posted that I wonder how we even view them at all. By the way, there's some fishing health bar along with this minigame. Apparently the fishes try to avoid being caught by fighting against your lure.

I don't exactly see how the stories connect with this thread, since they're spoilers, and stories are usually for immagination and entertainment.

Maybe you're right, but it's still fun to use in-game possibilities to add to stories. The sea serpent was worked in, and that's what's important. It was a joke, and something of an advertisement for my stories, so sorry if you got confused.

I have a question here. It may be a little random or off topic but I think it goes with this forum. I know alot of us, (myself included) have been waiting for this stuff to come to test and it hasn't for about a month or so. (and by the way I am not complaining here this is part of my question.) So do you guys think that Disney will put Fishing, The Cannon Defenses and the Shrouded Islands together or separately or put Fishing and Cannon Defenses together or? I think they will put fishing and cannon defense together like they did with potions and ship repair, then in a much later update, they will put out Raven's Cove .

i think all at once but i haven't updated my phase files recently so i wouldn't know

James, like others have said, it's probably going end up being cannon defense and fishing together, while shrouded islands only get a few hints now and then.

Then, probably near the middle of summer, we may see new islands during the middle of summer.(it could be possible that they've already made some of the caves/swamp areas)

Anyways, eight new islands means a lot of work for the developers.

Have any of you found any new things in the Phase files? Whether it be new fish, phrases, or any new cave areas? I can't seem to figure out how to work the PF's for some reason (even with that guide).

Oh. Fishing. More stuff that nobody asked for.

Something HAS to come this summer. Not keeping kids entertained over their summer break will REALLY mess up D's client base. Still, I hope, with all my heart, they all come out at that same time. (A guy can hope, right?)

I still think that serpent is the long lost Sea Serpent from that accursed Johnny McVane quest. But we'll find out soon..... I suppose......
